For best results, you should jump neutral j.M for the instant overhead. Works on MODOK as well (if you can ever get him to touch the ground, lol).
Thanks, I forgot about j M … I never use it outside of combos so I guess I just forgot about it. I was using j L to instant overhead before … but the damage on that sucks and the hit stun is pretty crappy too.
Okay, so my PS3 finally got fixed and I could spend some time in the lab again.
Found some pretty nifty stuff with my Laura/Danny/Ami team, but sadly my bad execution is holding me back from seeing how practical that stuff is and how much damage it would do.
Guess I’ll just share, if someone has time/is bored I guess they can try it out if they want.
Iron Fist with Rising Fang and Amaterasu with Cold Star, X-23 on point.
Spoiler
Start:
:l:, (call Iron Fist somewhere around here) :h:,:s:
now you need to make up the distance, i usually just wavedash a couple of times. You can also leave out the S and cancel the H into a MFC M so you just need to walk forward a little after.
Then do the regular combo starting with H:
:h:,:s:,j.:h:xx:dp:+:h:xx:qcf:+:l:, land,Cold Star,:qcf:+:m:(fully charged),:s:, j.
:h:xx:dp:+:h:xx:qcf:+:l::qcf:+:m:(fully charged)xx:qcf:+:atk:+:atk:, can DHC into Iron Fist(Volcanic Roar) and Ami(Okami Shuffle) afterwards.
I think this will almost always corner carry, but i don’t know if it works all the way from one corner to another.
May seem impractical at first but if you have both assist available I think it’s a pretty good option because Cold Star only relaunched in the corner. Will continue to work on it and maybe upload a video if people are interested. I really need to step up my execution but just doing the start is annoying on a pad
Also, im pretty sure you can do the same thing off a regular Mirage Feint starter and call IF after the MFC into j.MM. Havent done that yet tho
for the team I’m currently toying with (X23/Lei Lei/Kitty)
L, M, D+M, H, Feint H, M, H, CS L, Talon L, M, H, S(Launch), H, CS H, Talon L, (land), Sand Splash>Charged Ankle Slicer, S(relaunch), H, CS H, Talon L, (land), Charged Ankle Slicer>Senpu-pu>WXP - Around 740k+ and builds 1.5 meter, sets up gold armor assist pretty good. Not online friendly.
L, M, H, Neck Slicer>Senpu Bu>Charged Neck Slicer, S(Launch), H, CS H, Talon L, (land), Sand Splash>Charged Neck SlicerxxxWXP - This one is funny, sometime around H and Neck Slicer you have to call Senpu bu, but I’ve gotten something like this to work before. I do need to check if you can get off feint mixups even if the opponent is push guarding Senpu Bu out.
Talon DivexxxTalon L, M, D+M, H, Feint H, M, M, CS L, Talon L, M, H, S(Launch), H, CS H, Talon L, (land), Charged Ankle Slicer>Senpu-pu, S(relaunch), H, CS H, Talon L, (land), Sand Splash>Charged Neck Slicer, S, H, CS H, Talon L, (land again), Charged Ankle SlicerxxxRT - Variation of the first one, but a bit more dmg (800k+ I think). Major HSD, inputs need to be fast especially near the second CS H or they will just pop out randomly.
Seems like one of the best things to do with Senpu Bu would be to get a combo where the HSD is a high as possible without using it, then end with senpu bu + ankle slice. My thinking is that if you can push the HSD high enough you might be able to get an air tech directly into blockstun (a la wesker+haggar) which should set you up for some ridiculous resets. Even if not, using powered up senpu like I run my cart reset would be so fantastically broken.
Soo… was this known yet? I don’t remember seeing it anywhere.

Don’t mind me spamming the buttons, i was having fun (hence the fuckup at the end) =P
Almost all of the relaunch assists allow you combo into silent kill, actually. I’m always on the fence on whether our not it’s worth it since you’re normally able to do close to 300 k by just doing the relaunch into RT. What I think might be the better option for using it in combos is add it as early as possible so the rest of the combo has a chance to gain you a meter for another rt at the end.
For the normal otgs you have time to land call assist activate silent kill connect.
For the lockdown assists I think it would be best to do lmh + assist uncharged neck slicer, xfactor, silent kill. If the Hsd is lower enough you should be able to relaunch even in level 1 xf.
I wonder hire viable it would be to land, otg assist, charged NS xx Silent kill, s.L to force a low air tech then dirt nap to reset into a full combo…

X23 can combo off her ground back throw in XF3 (haven’t tried it in XF2 yet).
Works mid screen, and even works if you XF after the back throw (timing is tight for this).
Also, is X23 still able to combo off of dirtnap midscreen? I knew she could in vanilla, but I’ve been trying in ultimate and can’t reach them with ankle slice.
Didn’t know she could combo off her backthrow in XF3, thanks for that.
Ummm, good question. I don’t know myself, I need to test it out, but generally, if you find yourself too far away for an OTG Ankle Slice, you have to dash first, then Ankle Slice.
Well I meant that even with dash->ankle slice I’m still not reaching them in time. It looks like it covers the right distance, it’s just too slow.
In the corner she has some neat stuff post dirtnap. You can dash->LMH->H mirage feint->MH->Talon Attack L->MHS->MMH2H->Crescent Scythe H xxTalon Attack Lxx->Ankle Slice->super. It builds a bar post dirt nap which is nice to have when you’re out of X factor.
That’s strange, do you remember the character you tried to OTG on?
Various characters. Tried it on Wesker, Doom, Tron, Shehulk, and Nova.
Mind you these where in actual matches off a meaty M talon attack while they were coming in (so they were at about normal jump height). It may be that the timing is just a lot tighter than vanilla or something. I’ll drill it more in training mode when I get home today.
I was kinda hoping that somebody had already pulled it off at some point in ultimate so I’d at least know it’s possible before grinding it out.
Tried it out now, can’t get it to work assistless either, from Talon M, or S, anything. Somebody else know?
its definitely possible, you’re basically cancelling the dash into the Slicer, you go A+B~d (to cancel the dash) and use that down as the first input of the qcf then just hold M.
you’ll only reach with the very last hit of the OTG, bu5 if you cancel to rage trigger/XF it’ll still combo.
I’ve been playing X-23/Hsien-Ko/Firebrand a lot lately, these are the best combos I’ve come up with so far.
Using Hsien-Ko (assist ‘a’) and Firebrand (assist ‘a’)
Neck Slice, Talon L, Crescent Scythe L, Talon L, Crescent Scythe L, Talon L, S, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 2, Ankle Slice, S, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 1, Ankle Slice, Weapon X Prime, Chireitou (QCF atk atk), tag in Firebrand, ~
Builds 1,4 meter
~ 1.046.300 damage when ending with Demon Missile M or L (f.d.df M/L)
~ 1.066.800 damage when ending with dash, Bon Voyage (QCF S), S
Talon L, Crescent Scythe L, Talon L, Crescent Scythe L, Talon L, S, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 2, Ankle Slice, S, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 1, Ankle Slice, Weapon X Prime, Chireitou, tag in Firebrand, ~
Builds 1,3 meter
~ 1.068.500 damage when ending with Demon Missile M or L
~ 1.089.000 damage when ending with dash, Bon Voyage, S
Neck Slice, Talon L, H, S, j.H j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 2, Ankle Slice, S, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 1, Ankle Slice, Weapon X Prime, Chireitou, tag in Firebrand, ~
Builds 1,2 meter
~ 953.100 damage when ending with Demon Missile M or L
~ 973.600 damage when ending with dash, Bon Voyage, S
Decapitating Slice, H, S, j.H, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 2, Ankle Slice, S, j.Crescent Scythe H, Talon L, assist 1, Ankle Slice, Weapon X Prime, Chireitou, tag in Firebrand, ~
Builds 1,1 meter
~ 826.300 damage when ending with Demon Missile M or L
~ 846.800 damage when ending with dash, Bon Voyage, S
note: use L attack in-between Decapitating Slice, H for smallest characters.
*DHC into Hsien-Ko’s hyper before X-23 finishes the X mark, otherwise you end up on the other side doing Tenrai Ha.
Haven’t tried these on all characters, but this seems to be the damage for most of the cast. There might be some that take more or less damage, like Wolverine takes extra damage overall and Nemesis takes less damage in combos ending with Bon Voyage, S
Meter build isn’t a 100% accurate, just based on what it looks like.
Some options for follow ups after these combos:
After Demon Missile M you can go for normal attacks or Hell’s Elevator (QCB atk).
After Demon Missile L you can use Hell Spitfire (QCF) M or Hell Dive (QCB) M, H
After Bon Voyage, S you can try to go for an air throw.
I play X-23/Doom/Nova and I’ve been in the lab hopelessly trying to find more damaging combos for X-23, it’s pretty hard and I feel like her hit stun decay is way to aggressive compared to other characters where it seems like there’s no hit stun decay at all. Sorry in advance if these have been posted before, I just discovered them myself and I didn’t feel like going through 15 pages of this thread.
Combo 1: Does about 650-700K depending on character assist and/or letting s.M do full 2 hits each time, 1 meter, 1 assist
s.M, s.H xx Mirage Feint H, air M, air M, air H, land/jump, air M, air M, air H, air S xx Talon Attack L, s.M, s.H, s.S, air M, air M, air H, air Crescent Scythe H xx Talon Attack L, land/call assist, Ankle Slice xx Rage Trigger.
Notes: The land/jump after the first air H is basically holding up/forward to jump as soon as you land, similar to mission mode mirage feint combos. After you land the first Talon Attack, don’t do s.M too early otherwise the air combo will whiff because the opponent is too high. Also basic; don’t cancel Crescent Scythe xx Talon Attack L too early otherwise you’ll whiff the Talon Attack. For the assist, I use Doctor Doom’s Beam assist (Type A) as it did the most damage compared to Nova’s assist. You can experiment with other character’s assist to see what works the best for you. Lastly you can add a Falling Claw (air down H) after do your air H in the last part of the air combo and immediately cancel into Crescent Scythe H if you can do it fast enough, if you’re too slow, the Talon Attack L will whiff.
**Combo 2: **This is very tricky to do and requires much more strict timing compared to vanilla. Does about the 680-710K damage depending on character assist, 1 meter, 1 assist.
s.L, s.M, s.H xx Mirage Feint H, air M, air M, air H xx Falling Claw (air down H) xx Talon Attack L, land, s.M, s.H xx Mirage Feint H, air M, air M, air H xx Falling Claw xx Talon Attack L, land, s.M, s.H, s.S, air M, air M, air H, air Crescent Scythe H xx Talon Attack L, land/call assist, Ankle Slice xx Rage Trigger.
Notes: This combo will net you more damage but it’s very strict on its timing compared to when you did it in vanilla. You can add s.L at the beginning of the combo, and after the first Mirage Feint loop (land, s.L, s.M, s.H etc) but the timing MAY be more strict due to hit stun decay. Damage will scale using light attacks but it will net more damage. This combo is much easier to do in the corner but it’s possible mid-screen. For assists see Combo 1 above.
This was definitely an unlisted nerf in ultimate - I think they added some knockback on the opponent after dirt nap. Which means any time you’re in the corner, ankle slice will reach, but otherwise probably not.
It should still work if you hit the lvl3 while they’re grounded or close the the ground, though, since they’ll hit the ground before getting knocked back too far.
Might still work on big bodies, haven’t really tested…
Certain long hitting OTGs can still get you a relaunch midscreen on occasion. Wesker/Felix come to mind. Not consistently though. For newer players, don’t forget that if you get a kill on the ground you can dash into them when they’re crumpling to the ground to push them towards the corner. Dirt nap midscreen has always been an iffy proposition tho. I don’t think that’s new to ultimate, tho. Both X-23 and your opponent get pushed back so if either of them get stopped by the corner you have a better chance of following up.
@Lesiothain: I would love to see some vids of a few of your matches. I’ve been wanting to run some kind of X23/Firebrand team forever. I just never got around to labbing one up.
Well, dirt nap midscreen still gets you good guaranteed damage and a strong mixup situation, so it’s still worth it, IMO.
Depending on the height of where you dirtnapped you can wave dash and otg. I don’t know if its possible none xfactored, but i know in lvl 2/3 you can wave dash in and ankle slice.
