Let the Spirits Guide You - The AE v.2012 Rose Matchup Guide

I use that to win against Blockbuster Jon at WNF this week hahahahhaa.

I use crhp.

Though this may not really be practical, I was playing a friend of mine (he plays Makoto) and I found that MP Soul Reflect beat most, if not all, his Hayate attempts. Even EX Hayate. Maybe this should be tested a little more but it seems interesting.

Also, after that happened, I have been trying to find ways to make her Soul Reflects a more viable offensive option other than the standard stuff we’ve seen (Fireball control, HP Reflect in the corner xx Soul Throw, etc.). Has anyone found anything interesting or is this a bit pointless?

I appreciate the attempt to innovate and discover new technology but I think your efforts would be better spent on looking into some other special. I think it’s incredibly difficult to find an offensive application for Reflect given the move’s small hitbox, disadvantage on block, and the startup and recovery on it. Combo into it? Difficult to do outside of point-blank range and not worth the damage. Maybe it’s worth the spacing but keep in mind you’re giving up at least 50 points of damage by comboing into a Reflect instead of Spiral. Frame trap? Startup is too slow and it’s too unsafe on block. Even if it were better in *both *aspects, Rose still has safer options.

I just don’t like reflect outside of combos and actually reflecting lol.

Yeah, I kind of knew I probably didn’t stumble into anything great; just wanted a more informed opinion on the matter. Thanks!

Two guides I’d like to see are Ken and Akuma.

I would like to see how to deal with Akuma as well. Apparently it is not as tough as it appears on paper, but I’ve been getting wrecked by Akuma for the most part.

I think he might of been too far away by the time the drill came out so that’s why it whiffed regardless. The LK drill is the only one of the three that can be used as an actual block string (albeit an unsafe one) so I think if he had spaced that better, Akuma wouldn’t of made it whiff with the s.LK. If he did Medium or Heavy drill, it probably would not of whiffed? Not like that would of mattered much because any Shoto could uppercut Rose out of Medium and Heavy drill if my memory serves me correctly.

unless after a heavy, no drill is ever a true blockstring.

Ok guys I stated this before but i am nearly done with my Rose “Bad Match Up” Analysis. A draft should be complete mid august and I will share with you guys. its gonna be PDF. I been doing this for a good while, and I can say by doing this I have become a better Rose Player in both online and offline sessions.

Good to know. Thanks!

does anyone have any match-up tips for Rose vs Gen? i was reading the forum but i didn’t see any.

i am having trouble with defending his cross-ups. to get more into detail, i have a hard time with defending against his crane stance. any tips?

I blocked all of his “cross ups” with holding back. I believe his crane stance is littered with fake cross ups that only are cross ups if they are timed right(aka like yang’s j.mk) I even went into arcade mode to cross up the cpu with crane stance and only did it on knock down followed by jump over.

Can someone explain the Honda matchup? I’ve not played in a while, but I’m sucking so badly vs any remotely decent Honda.

jchensor unblockable vs ryu was really easy to do.

Back throw, walk(step), jump mk.

Is it correct in me saying that when barely in crmp range, you can get crossup jump hp, or is that just against Ryu.

Anything using backthrow is usually inconsistent, considering that it throws you back depending on where you are on the screen.

Quick question: is dudleys shk or any normal xx duck into throw or another normal interruptible with crjab ect? I feel stupid teching the throw since it gets me no where really.

I use ultra 1 on chun-li all the time because i can be easily poked out of u2 by a confident chun-li. It also keeps them grounded and they have to pay really close attention to hazanshu’s or they’ll get whipped in the face by the scarf.
