Let Me Know When the Fight Starts!: The MvC3 X-23 Video Thread

Luis has been swagging out lately.

Edit - Those are some mean Hulk setups :3

The last combo was what i was referring too. Im pretty sure I’ve never seen it but whoops on me if it was already known and the first combo was how i accidentally did it.

also for the second combo, the maximum of H’s one can mirage faint cancel into is 7 but with that combo, the maximum goes way over that. I managed 12 but im pretty sure you can do more.

Also warning to those that want to try it, your hands will not thank you. After i was done, i could no longer do it anymore and my hands would just press random buttons so sorry if its not polished or refined.

Hah, nice. I had been messing around with dashing under after the command grab and had never bothered to looking into other strings. I think it’s funny that most of my labwork tends to be on her aerial options and yours seems to be mostly on her ground options.

Also, not that I had high hopes for it. But I finally got around to checking if that wierd Wolverine guard break glitch where it would wall bounce after the throw animation worked for X-23 and sadly it doesn’t work for her. Bit of a bummer since it would have been nice to have more ground throw options.

Wolverine guard break glitch? link to a vid?

For those that didn’t watch…Dapvip’s Dante/X-23/Iron Man won the STL regional Mass Appeal. Always makes me wanna go back and mess with that team whenever I see him play. Look forward to getting some more games in with him at Final Round.

Iron Man and Dante always BFF’s for 23.

Log’s durability is pretty great. There aren’t many projectiles in the game with more durability as an assist than log trap. It has 10 points which means it will eat up most typical 5 point projectiles like disruptah pretty free. Even Iron Man or Doom beam only has like 8 total points if you count each hit. With multi hitting beams you might get tagged by 2 or 3 hits of the beam but then the log trap will absorb the rest of the beam and bop the assist character.

The only big issue is that X-23 literally has no projectile game so she can’t really do much to enforce the durability of the assist. She just has to zip around and hope it catches something without getting out flooded.

Totally disagree about Dante/X23 BFF status (unless you want to say the synergy is that he’s a great point and X23 is a deadly 2nd), and X23/IM(RB) is one of the best pairings in the game but X23/IM(UB) is a ton of wasted potential that is only made up by the fact that Dante w/ UB is great (Dapvip has a terrible habit of get IM HBD though). Dante and IM don’t get a whole lot from X23, either aside from a basic extender and basic hi/low stuff that isn’t ever as airtight as you’d like.

DapVips team is a Dante team with a shot of X23. You will almost never see him put X23 on the field unless Dante is already dead which negates the lousy Dante/X23 synergy, anyways. He still does work with it though, you just shouldn’t really watch it for the X23 action.

@Log Durability:

It def. doesn’t feel like 10 points. Lol.

It might just be him getting clipped by a faster assist/bad call on my part so log comes out but has no hitbox on it (or a mix of the 2.)

Either way, I love log to death and RR is so much more fun than Akuma (though he’s still a better anchor at current tech levels). Until there’s some new game breaking glitch/tech found that’s better than infinites I’m running X23/IM/RR. I was actually able to take a few rounds off FR_Roachking in casuals at a recent tourney with the team (final score was something like 3-5?)

Realistically it’s not BFF, but they provide decent help and it’s fun to reminisce on old teams. LOL. X-23 is so hard to build a good team around that it’s hard to say who really is the best. Though Rocket is looking pretty up there though. X-23 doesn’t really give anyone a whole lot of anything, but Dante is good enough to not need much more than a beam assist in the majority of matchups. He does use a lot 23’s basics well enough especially with the wall jumps to keep her moving and harder to footsie.

Iron Man providing TAC infinites and repulsor blast assist for dirt nap and relaunches is definitely looking pretty BFF at this point.

The funny thing about log trap is that it only has 5 pts. durability on point but gets raised to 10 as an assist. A few other assists have that property also and with a more projectile heavy character, can get pretty oppressive to deal with in a projectile war.

Def. agree with X23/IM(RB) BFF status. I still wish X23 had better lockdown setups, the only one that feels practical to me is the dash over dH. Otherwise it gives everything that X23 could want.

I think running CS on a team that lets her double relaunch is amazing. Get out of jail free and 1mil+ damage (assuming a decent DHC) for -1 net meter is really broken and lets you play teams in any any order as long as your other 2 characters have synergy. Makes up for characters that don’t have great point blank defensive options (like IM and RR, lol.)

Make sure to watch Apex

Are you still running teams with Cold Star? And if so, do you have any good/new lockdown assist tech? My lockdown game is so weak.

I only use Doom/Ammy against Magneto/Sent. I am still running Trauma’s team with Dorm second.

As for the lockdown game; I had to get back to basics and learn how to perfectly wave dash toward and backwards. This solidifies your pressure game. With Ammy I would do a hard knockdown, call Ammy then do M MF. That almost never worked. I found doing two wave dashes, calling Ammy then either keep wave dashing or doing a spaced out cr. C.

I really like Dark Hole over Cold Star. It’s just hard to get in.

I made a video today. It was a slow afternoon. Just some pressure stuff, nothing fancy, thought I’d put it here.

Yup.

Oddly enough, most of that blockstring looked like it was TOO tight, lol. Make sure they’re not stuck in blockstun so you can still hit left/rights. The crossup talon and the command grab were the only things that looked like the blockstring dropped and there weren’t any overheads so they only had to block 1 left/right during all of that.

PW makes a nice training dummy for that, though, since he has such a dumb looking blockstun pose.

They all should be crossups when I do them right, I checked a while back, but today I sorta recorded them quickly without checking things. Thanks for the notice, I may throw a smoother version on there later today.

And yeah, PW was intentional for that reason, lol.

Fixed it, they’re all left/rights now. Even the first one with the crossup M teleport, it’s just incredibly tight. And added another string, by which I mean the same string plus Dirt Nap.

rough day at tourney today, I’m too weak. I wish I was on the level of you other X23 players out there

here’s the results, and I have some footage too. To be fair, I lost to both players that made GF. So, I guess it can’t be so bad. Back to the lab!

Be careful doing solo left-rights by yourself, the opponent can mash inbetween. I don’t know if H>Mirage Feint M+Arrows and the command grab set-up are tight too, the opponent might be able to either jump out or do something else. If it was a quicker assist, H>Mirage Feint M+assist would definitely be tight.

Footage up

So, yeah. Just a sloppy day. Not respecting bolts forced me into guessing high/lows, and Nova gets so much bullshit/leverage from it. I whiffed that random super because I thought he would zipline down into it, plus I needed to get X23 out. But, it costed me Dorm sadly. Dropped combos, talon abuse, yeah just sloppy as I mentioned. I recall saying there were no Nova’s here but I guess I was wrong x_<

Anybody else wanna critique let me have it. I suck, so don’t hold back. I’m still trying to get good at this game and understand things.

Biggest issue I saw in that match is that you were punishing bolts enough. There’s enough time to dash in and cr.M on him between the bolts or on reaction to the call. If you’re too far back to punish then try to stay up at wall jump (also, try to wall jump more rather than TA M/Hs it’s much safer and less predictable) so you can have some options to punish from longer range. Also, try to throw Spencer zips when they aren’t using an assist that hits meaty or before they get to you.

Don’t waste the little time you gain by throwing out SFs with Dorm doing dark matterxxPillar. The time would be much better spent getting some charges. Also, I feel like you could abuse RB > charge spells a bit more as long as you have meter on deck to reversal DD or Flames if someone tries to super you. Also, Dorm’s cr.M is one of the greatest AA normals in the game

I feel like your spacing on your assist calls are a little wide, there were a few assist calls with X23 you did after jumping back out of range that didn’t nothing for pressure and just got your assists hit buy a stray bolt.

Your IM is still looking a little green (understandable), learn the Krispy Kreme asap because it makes you have better poking habits and don’t bother with his fly stuff. If you go directly into launch, just do sj.MHdHS, land dash, OTG SB L cr.MS sj.MHdHS OTG Super. Much easier for practically the same damage. Don’t be afraid to use his RB more, as long as you don’t flinch and spread wrong it’s practically safe and you can go straight into PC if you catch an assist or level 3 if you caught their point. Also, jump S fly H unfly H walls are amazing for neutral, learn those asap too.

Even though you didn’t get the W, it was still a pretty solid match, I wouldn’t feel bad about it.

not sure if this was discovered yet but i was in the lab today trying to figure an way to guard break, maybe i got something =)
