Learning to Kick @$$ (Literally)! - The Chun-Li Combo Thread

Just a quick 1-2-3 (or 4) hits on M after the OTG. You’ll get the timing from that to the S pretty quickly. As for the heavy LL at the end, those you can just mash. Or skip entirely.

Okay, I’m *almost *to the point where I can kill Strider off an air :h: without using assists. Any tips for that last 3,700?

You’d probably have to jump loop your way there. That combo makes some compromises on damage for the low execution barrier.

What’s one of Chun’s longest combos involving Kikoanken? Preferably without Assists? I want a Crumple close to the end the combo.

Not sure if you can do it at the end of a combo unless you use a Tats assist or something similar to do multiple Kikoankens…idunno

The only way you can crumple after making the opponent airborne is with the Spencer slant shot assist. Even the longest ground chains aren’t that long. What do you have in mind?

Wanted to come up with a legit tag combo, but I realized it would take a Spencer Assist

RyanBlood posted this combo before I think. His variant had an extra j.H>Fierce Hyakuretsu, but I couldn’t get that to land, maybe Chun needs to skip the jump in. Sorry for the unclear notations.

j.:h:, :d:+:m:, st.:h:>:hcf:+:h:~:h:(crumple), st.:h:,:d:+:h:>(jump cancel) Yosokyaku(air stomp)>airdash into j.:h:, land, st.:m::h: :d:+:h:>(jump cancel)j.:m::m::h:>Fierce Hyakuretsu(you can begin charging for air EX SBK here or you can do it during MMH) Kyaku, airdash into Yosokyaku>j.:h:>Fierce Hyakuretsu Kyaku, j.:s:>EX SBK, land, :d:+:h::s:, super jump, j.:h:, double jump, j.:h:>Fierce Hyakuretsu Kyaku, j.:s:, land and insert assist ender.

I ended it with: call Tatsu, air stomp, airdash, land into qcf+:atk::atk: which did 810 damage and gave me 1.95 bars. Maybe I could come up with a different ending.

Do you guys have any good resets with her? I know if I can hit the hitstun decay I can get a stomp into an air throw. Are there any others?

Also, what’s a good combo to hit the hitstun so I can OTG w/ stomp so I can get the throw? I’ve tried some with jump loops and lightning legs during the launch part at the end, but it’s not consistent.

Actually, playing around with this more, I’ve been able to get her reset to work almost every time with the combo Brian does. The question now is, what’s a good otg combo after an air throw? I’ve tried air dash -> stomp > legs, but sometimes the stomp makes me bounce too high. Is there any way to make this more consistent?

Use the M legs. Im pretty sure you’re not using it, since I never ever had that kind of trouble.
I got a lot of resets, but the only worthy ones require assists.
I have one that is really cool, and includes Akuma’s tatsu.

I have been using M legs. If they’re in the corner it’s easier, but out of the corner where I have to airdash is the problem. I can’t seem to get the stomp -> legs from an air dash like that. Would you airdash using L+M > then hold down > MMMM for legs?

Would you say it’s worth it to reset with her? I mean she doesn’t have many options outside of calling an assist and maybe air dashing to the other side, or air throwing someone. Although with a lock down assist, she’s got a triple overhead I assume. She doesn’t deal THAT much damage to begin with, right? It’ll be hard for my team to really reset someone since I’m not playing with Tatsu assist or Jam Session or something of the sort. Although I do have a 2 hit block string into a jump cancel > airdash > assist and that’s kind of guaranteed unless of course they push block me instantly.

Stomp kick will always make them recover in the air, and if your combo get close to the max stun scale, your opponent will have a really hard time breaking away from your air grab.
You should reset if you know you cant kill them with DHCs, or if you want to keep your bars.

i looking to pick up chun li. whats the 1st combo i should learn , what her airgrab combos, her jump hit comfirms? theres so much combos here i dont know where to start. i been watching brain kasugan chun li vids. looks so fun thats why i wanna try and learn her i think have the patient to make a team with her.

If I get a happy birthday off of a s.M s.H -> kikoanken combo, what’s the best thing to do out of it? So far I’ve only done another s.H, c.H super since stomps don’t work.

I think I might be able to get a j.LMMHS in there before the super, but I’m not sure if the scaling is even worth it. What do you guys use?

I really need something better too for these situations, though if you manage to get a kikoanken, you probably can get at least a TK SBK in after cr.H? The best I have isn’t great at all, but I just go right into Kikosho, DHC, and XF combo with that character for the KOs.

This is something I really should’ve asked a while ago. What are some of the combos you guys do off of mid-screen TACs with Chun-Li?

I’ve got corner air combos pretty much down, but all I can really think of off of side TACs or any-direction-mid-screen TACs are j. M, M, H, j. M, M, H, LL, j. M, M, H, LL, S…

I’m having trouble doing Tenshoyaku L > S > H.SBK after doing st.M > St.H > Kikoanken > st.M > st.H. Any tips on how to do it consistently?

I’m not sure exactly where you’re having the trouble, but this is how I do it:

When you input the DP motion, hold the stick in the down-forward direction (this gives you charge), the tenshoyaku to S is a link, so you’ll just have to time it. After that, just mash :u::h: and you should be good to go.

Where exactly is the trouble?

I would generally miss my S after Tenshoyaku and then mess up the rest of the combo :X

So I finally got my PS3 back from my friend after several months of lending it to him. Was itching to play marvel anf hit the lab with chun again. Exeperimenting with the team of chun + frank. The synergy between the two is very damn good. Being able to hit level 4 frank off of one ariel exchange, for one bar ,and 850-900k damage is pretty sweet. His assist is awesome for chun also. Has anyone been experimenting with this team…and if so, any tips to share? Currently trying to decide on an anchor also. I was thinking Akuma as he is useful for all the cast. Any other recommendations? (I was thinking felicia or strider but I really don’t wanna use them as they are on my other team of chris/felicia/ strider).
