Thinking back to when SSF4 was just announced, a rumor list came out ( http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2009/sep/24/rumors-more-street-fighter-4-upgrade-notes/ ), and shockingly enough, most of the information was correct. At the time i thought it was a fake, but as time has unfolded the truth, I stand corrected. But all this information released with such accuracy… I certainly can’t help but wonder if Capcom plants theses rumors, takes down post on purpose ( http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2009/sep/17/rumor-street-fighter-iv-dash-characters/) just to dangle the truth in front of us like fish to a hooked worm so it keeps us interested or even to create excitement for the “mysterious” game to come?
Does Capcom release info into the internet, or is it from some other source?..
This isn’t just for SSF4, anything Capcom has done in the past similar to this.
wrong section. But I always believed that leaked info ever since Juri and T.Hawk were announced. Most of that link is most likely true. Someone has inside info super early apparently.
Just saying, as soon as SSFIV was announced it was pretty obvious DeeJay and THawk were gonna get thrown in. Why throw in Cam and Fei and leave out the other SSF2 characters?
Yeah, wrong place. And it wasn’t leaked, the damn original game had unused content which gave people the hint that characters such as THawk and Dee Jay were around.
The list has been wrong in some ways though such as there being an arcade release months before a console release and major changes to focus attacks…but for the most part, it has been right, everyone knew T. Hawk and Dee Jay were going to be in it, but when it picked up Juri and possibly Hakan, I was impressed.
I think Seth Killian might be responsible for the leak…or Mr. Wizard.
I remember Ono or somebody saying they(Dee-Jay and T-Hawk) were already partially (sound files, incomplete models) in the first sf4 disc code (cuz every sf game since Alpha 3 is trying to be a re-make of Super Turbo for some annoying reason), but whoever is in charge of making sure release dates are kept on-schedule were rushing the team, so they didn’t have time to implement.
we should just dedicate this thread to all the times shit is leaked on big projects and you just think “did they do that themselves and if not, how did the other guy get the information and is not killed by the company.”
“leaks” cause hype. then the hype gets people curious and start making their own assumptions of whats to be expected. then expectations get too high and the producers cant meet those expectations anymore, thus disappointing the consumers.
This leak was a big deal and wasn’t intended by Capcom. It was a huge shame for Capcom Japan who worked hard on developing new content for the game, but of course it was all blabbed out by Capcom USA employee(s). If the follow-up rumors are right, multiple people were fired as a result.
So yes, some companies do have “leaks” intentionally, but this certainly wasn’t one of them. Yes, the rumor list is completely right and yes, the last four characters are Dudley/Ibuki/Makoto/Hakan. It was already finalized and developed months ago; nothing else is going to change.
Wouldn’t be the first time things have mysteriously “leaked” in order to generate interest. Paris Hilton sex tape anyone? Yeah, I also thought the green hue sucked.
Actually the focus attack changes were true. They’ve been sped up a lot watching recent videos.
But, there’s the possibility this was leaked on purpose and the last 4 characters are going to completely blow our minds. Maybe it was all to throw us for a loop.
