Leaderboard Fail

So Apparently if your opponent gets mad and DC’s or leaves the match then you both lose ranking points. Case in point I was 78th this moring, played couple games won them all got up to 52. Played like 5 more, won 3 in a row then fought same guy who dc’d both times as I was about to win. Now I’m ranked like 140. Watch your leader board, it counts DC’s against both players not just one that leaves, kind of BS.

Please. I was like 70 something, won 7 in a row right after (and I play pure rushdown, so it’s not like it’s taking a while) and whent down almost 80 spots.

Don’t even pay attention to rankings. It’s online.

“I’m going to make a new thread instead of using the bugs and glitches thread stickied at the top of the forum to report problems!”

Who would have guessed to who had authored that thread?

This has been happening since 2003. We know this.

yeah i went down from somebody ragequitting

but there was one time I went from like, 80th place on the leaderboards up to 13th because of a ragequit. now that’s how it SHOULD work

Still can’t get past HonzoGonzo on XBL.

Considering the game uses an ELO-like system, take the leaderboards with a grain of salt. Those systems are meant for you to constantly be fluctuating in level. It’s not like BP where you can sit down and go up by 1000 points in an hour. It’s going to be a long grind if you want to see your number go up.

On the other hand it’s going to make matchmaking loads better than anything we’ve seen before.

No, it’s horrid. Elo systems are designed to keep bad players from ever getting good. It’s going to kill the tournament scene, if people think their shit strats work, and then they go and get bodied irl. DUMB.

What’s horrid about it? TrueSkill (the ACTUAL system SG uses, based on ELO) matches you with players who you have the highest chance of stalemating with. It allows players to improve without having to rise through the ranked and fight their way to 10000 BP.

In my time with the SF matchmaking system, I’ve found that I either body or get bodied and it’s not very fun. So far with SG everything’s been pretty fantastic – but only time will tell if it works in the long run, as rising through the ranks will be more work than SF.

Because wins at low Elo are against players who also have no idea how to properly play. Your forced to learn bad habits and bad control. It’s stupid. It’s the same reason 99% of league players never get passed 1499. Elo systems make you play bad people in order to play good people. While it’s a good idea on paper, you still wind up making shit habits part of your game. not a good system at all.

That’s the player’s fault for developing bad habits, not the system used to match players.

It’s not suppose to or going to replace going on forums and setting up matches with good players to play offline or online.

This is why top level play is so limited. Because top players only get to play top players. Look at the offline scene for any game. Top players don’t train with randoms.

It’s really weird, one minute I’m #2 and the next I’m like #7, then #2 again. And a friend of mine who got the #2 spot got shot down to #66 in the span of an hour.

I think at the very least, xbox live is pretty whack with the leaderboard thing.

You live in NJ, you can see it at the Break, Jaxel Dome and Local Battles people of all skills entering and playing in weeklies and casuals.

I’m dmbrandon. I commentate and play at the Break and Salty Battles a lot.

I’m not saying this is going to have an effect on ME. I play top players and I’m hoping to WIN Skullgirls tomorrow. (Though I see Josh Wong practicing on xbl, and he beats me in everything llololo)

I’m saying this is giong to affect the randoms who never seem to get better.

omfg you’re stone nguyen!!? I haven’t played you since Evo! I was wondering who that was, I knew I saw that name before.

You got a lock on that top 10 spot bro. How long do you play everyday?
I’m still fluctuating at the top 400~500 mark.

In other news HonzoGonzo went down to top 20

It means that while you were winning, 80 people were winning a lot more. #Kappa

Check my post in the glitches/other leaderboard bug thread (yes, there are OTHER leaderboard threads) . I got to 50 again by dumb luck. I repeated what I did last time I made it to 50. Didn’t play any ranked at all for the rest of the day. checked after a day, Dropped 7 ranks only, the MOMENT I played 1 game (and won) I drop rapidly. (I checked a few times before playing another ranked game)

Are you telling me that people are ONLY winning and playing and moving up the leaderboards ONLY and EXACTLY when I decide to play matches?

Go a head, try what I did yourself. you’ll find you’ll find similar results if you’re high enough on the ranking board and are on xbl. It doesn’t happen to me once I drop below the 400 mark. So you do have to be pretty high on the board.

I’m not going to bother making a video, Since it’s not that important to me. (Important enough to mention and let people understand that there is a problem, but not important enough for me make a video/take action to get it fixed other than what i’m doing now) but if people would like me to I can.

In the quotes on that link will link to the salt thread (where other people will mention similar problems after my post), I also have a link in that post to the OTHER leaderboard thread… Now Pick one, keep all the complaints in there. and let the other one die.

Wow you don’t get sarcasm…
