c.LP -> s.HP is much harder to me than s.LP -> s.HP link is in super (same goes with LP -> s.MK link). I think I got the correct timing memory for links after s.LP, but not c.LP just yet. I thought I was going to see at least one person who wanted that extra 5 damage and went for the s.LP link.
Now all we have to do is wait for someone who would test c.LP -> LP Roll, or CH c.LP -> c.MK.
But wait, we just might have a 4f s.HP.
I would like to apologize for posting too much non-video stuff on a video thread, I just couldn’t help it after watching them.
Good to know there’s a community out there somewhere in Nigeria
Here’s just some of my notes on your match against the Sagat and Ryu
Vs Sagat: 1st round:
You did a good job with pressuring him non stop
Stop jumping in the corner; not only is jumping dangerous, but when you jump in the corner, you put yourself at a disadvantage.
Please do NOT do [Crane] J.mk > C.lk; you can if you are able to hit confirm, but if he blocked that C.lk, you would’ve been screwed with a DP > Ultra. 2nd round:
Again stop jumping in
Try and use your anti air more, whether it be [Mantis] C.hp, Gekiro, or [Crane] C.hk; he got to jump in for free too many times.
Not sure what that full screen ultra was for. It doesn’t have that much invincibility frames so personally I wouldn’t try to go through fireballs. 3rd round:
That first Oga did you did in the 3rd round, you should keep note of that. He’s dp’ing when he see’s you start your Oga, so next time when you have ultra, whiff the Oga, if you see him DP then ultra, if not then no harm done.
One more time, do not jump in the corner. If you hadn’t jumped in the corner and waited for him to make a mistake, you would’ve won. Not to mention you had super and ultra.
Summary: In my opinion when playing against Sagats, if they are able to AA (Anti-air) you every time you jump in, this will be somewhat of a slow match for you. Be careful of the distance where you jump in, change up the jump arc with the two different styles. When you have him in the corner, he really can’t do anything to get out. Gen’s [Mantis] c.hp beats ALL of his jump ins. And when Gen has super, his [Crane] super is probably the best super AA there is in the game. Be patient against Sagats. Absorb fireballs to gain ultra meter but not too many.
Vs Ryu: 1st round:
Pretty much the only problem was that you let him jump one too many times. The first time he jumped in, you did a FA and not sure why. Second time he jumped in you did [Mantis] S.hk, not sure why. Third time he jumped in you did ultra, I’m not sure if [Mantis] U1 can ever be used for an AA so don’t try it next time. 2nd round:
See how you did [Crane] J.mk > whiffed C.lk? That [Crane] C.lk has so much recovery, so I’m saying it again, unless you can hit confirm, do NOT do it. If you want, you can do what I do; [Crane] J.mk > S.lp > C.lk. There are different alternatives, so find one that suits you.
Summary: Please get down your AA’s. [Mantis] C.hp, or Gekiro will be fine. If they’re in too deep and you’re forced to do a last minute AA, then I would prefer to use [Crane] C.hk
Bottom line, the main things you need to work on:
Learn to use your AA’s
Stop jumping (or jump less especially if they keep AA’ing you)
Stop jumping into the corner
Once you get those things down, you’ll have a good foundation
thanks man, really appreciate, I kind of brain froze in those matches lol. and that jumping in the corner is a bad habit I picked up lol. anyway how about the Ibuki match? I am also going to upload some matches that I lost like crazy lol. Gen is freaking awesome. was able to pull of Gens Touch of death combo today for the first time, it was soo cool to watch
For the Ibuki matchup, pretty much the same thing. Thing is her jump in is a little weird so I would do [Crane] C.hk for anti air. This Ibuki was okay, the player kept doing jump back kunai, which is your opportunity to do [Mantis] U1 if you see it!
It’s not really an increased range, it’s a reduced hittable box, I guess making it look like it reaches farther. But what I think this would help with is situations as a quick AA. Have you ever noticed people using a jab to get out of a cross up or neutral jump? I’ve seen rogs, and justin wong do it all the time. I’ve tried that with Gen and get stuffed or trade, I think it had to do with the HUGE hittable box. This maybe helpful for very close jump ins like vs Adon who has a very short jump.
EDIT: If you look closely at the range it almost looks like it’s shorter now. The red hitbox doesn’t go as far down his finger as in the Super Screen Shot. But this maybe a different frame in the s.LP animation and only demonstrating the reduced hittable box only. I guess we will have to wait until we can gather all pieces of information.
Recently been playing Gen again (no pun) and uploaded some videos as a roadmap of where I’m at.
I’m trying to get up to speed for AE and having to relearn my hands inputs so I can take advantage of hp xx mk xx hands.
Please cast a critique-ing eye over them.
I already know
need to stop sweeping as much, s.mp buffering hands will eventually be swapped in
I suck
please don’t mention either of those things as I’m working on them.
IMO I don’t think s.mp, hands would be swapped in, as I’ve seen in a bunch of clips where c.mp hands missed the last 2 hits of the hands. I think s.MK, c.MK, c.MP Hands should all be used.
