Just a random match at UCLA. SSFIV AE. Crappy american stick/gate/button layout.
Don’t know why I uploaded this. Except maybe to note that I just default to s.hp->s.mk TC after a cross up now, since throwing s.mp after a cross-up often puts you too far for it to link into the TC. There’s little more heartbreaking than whiffing the first hit of s.hp.
If you hit confirm either the j.mk or the s.hp, then you can do Gekiro/Hands->Super. If you get a block, it’s a true block-string that you can end in hands and puts projectile characters at the danger area (where if they throw a projectile or dash forward, you can crane u2 or hit them with a jump-in). It’ll also push Yun’s and Yangs out so that they can’t dive-kick for free without having to get through Gen’s AAs… and resets the footsies game with them that Gen wins out.
It’s exactly the same. No new movies. I was hoping for ANY sort of interaction with the twins either by Rival scenario or by win quotes (since, you know, he trained them?). However they pretty much act like they don’t even know each other.
i know that he trained the Twins, but i was hoping for his fight to the death with the 3 Evils Gouki/Oni/E.Ryu (for Info: he already Defeated Gouki in Alpha series)
Capcom still got something secret with Gen
That actually disappoints me a little. I would assume that they would interact in some way.
I’m still waiting for two people to be in the series. One would be harder than the other. I would love to see them work Dan’s father to be a playable character, but it may be really hard to do that. But I would love to see Lee, who is the Twins uncle and Gen’s friend. He would be a good idea for a new playable character. He’s been in end montages in previous games.
Vanesco’s Gen is always awesome… Anyway Gen has a lot of ties with many characters: the twins, Chun-Li, Akuma… it’s a pity Street Fighter IV didn’t add anything to this story…
i didnt say that , if you want a proove play SFZ3 pick Gen to story mode then you will face Gouki as the 2nd Boss after you defeat Gouki , Gen says :"…,It would be a great honor to die in battle with a worthy foe,But now that I’ve defeated you, my wish can’t be granted.
0ffcast productions uploaded the UCR vs UCLA matches onto youtube. I’m blown away by how incredible and solid players on both 5s teams were. I had such a good time. Our 5s team was Rose, Gen, Guy, Dhalsim, and Fei Long. Anyway, thought I’d relink and tell ya when my matches were:
I started doing the Daigo technique of sandbagging the first round. It’s helpful to figure out if someone is a turtle balrog, spams DP, or is a run-away or rush down Akuma.
I caught people all night (about 5 times) with AA Mantis U1. If you learn the height to throw it at, U1’s hitbox is inside his body… but U1’s invincibility frames will allow them to fall into its hitbox before hitting the ground. In the case of most divekicks, you can react to both the height and to the sight of a dive-kick/non-safe jumped normal. You should be able to recognize safe jumps with time.
In Supa’s case, I just saw that he was jumping in way too high… figured he’d alter his trajectory with CS, inputted the motion, reacted to dive kick with ultra. You can do this to catch people AA, catch people during landing frames, and its especially good for when people try to cross you up on the left corner of the screen. Because it’s very difficult to cross up in the left corner (because of poor programming), their intended cross-ups will typically land right inside of you if you U1. Just don’t do this against low dives (instant tk, Rufus, Yun/Yang) or those who can ex Tatsu to float out.
Anyhow. Keep an eye open for NegroMat too. He’s probably one of the top Guy players in the US. He and Valle played mirrors all night after the tournament.
tha messiah i just want to say how great your videos are for the gen community and i can’t wait for the collection of gen videos. hopefully i can learn better spacing and footsies by watching the videos. also cant wait for part 2 of the interview with nubb.
still i don’t think i will work on my gen until ae changes come out for consoles. so i been getting my ass kick in hdr with my scrub ryu.
thanks man. I’m having a lot of fun doing them. It’s been years since I’ve used After Effects so it’s bringing back old memories. I used to make old Counter-Strike videos.
Vanesco, in that Cammy game: I love seeing the roll used as a chipping maneuver, its so slow, so unsafe, and when it wins its the most insulting thing ever.
Some people have no reversals for it (Cammy) and so they have to time their 3 frame normal perfectly which is incredibly difficult so it’s not a HUGE risk
I threw it because I had already mind-fucked him most of the match with a near perfect, and roll builds good meter. Was pretty confident he wouldn’t reversal it and that the chip would kill.
Yeah, both standing and crouching jab for Cammy is 3 frames. He coulda punished if it didn’t kill him
