You should follow Crane j.mk, cr.lk with mantis cr.hk or at the very least crane cr.mp when you don’t have super. You should probably use gekiro less on wakeup, it’s easily punishable. Go for ex Oga instead.
Just watched the “Specialists” matches on youtube. Gen got his ass handed to him by this balrog player (Keno), Any analysis guys? Or is balrog that bad a match up. I see yeb tends to poke too much even when he lands a cross-up mk. Why didn’t he just use hands for maximum damage? doesn’t have to do mk-hands everytime. Seems he wasted a lot of chances to score more damage even when he lands a cross-up.
Awesome, I’ve been wanting to watch that set, I didn’t realize it had finally been uploaded.
Crazy long set vs. Keno:

This was my first time playing a real set against Keno, and he’s the first Balrog to ever give me that much trouble. Too many Balrogs waste meter on EX moves, but the big game changer that I had trouble adjusting to was the way he started to use his super so effectively. Keno has amazing reactions, and he’s ridiculously consistent at hit confirming the jab straight into super. There were so many games that were competitive until I whiffed a sweep or c.HP or something, and then he takes off half my life. I think I kept throwing out those pokes because I was in disbelief. I need to play him some more and learn to take a more cautious approach, I think.
Still, it was a practice session, so I was experimenting a bit. I kept trying to see if I could bait the super to hit me while I was airborne during a focus backdash, because I wanted to see if he would drop me during the juggle. It never worked out very well. We also had a couple matches before that off the stream and I gave him advice on Balrog’s best answer for the crossup wall dive, since I wanted practice responding to it myself.
I don’t consider it a bad matchup, I think I just took the wrong approach.
Your comments don’t make sense though. I poked too much after crossups? Do you mean my jabs, when I was looking for tick throws? Because I just wanted to stay close once I got in, and sometimes I wasn’t sure my jump in would hit. I can’t even begin to understand your comment about MK hands. It IS the maximum damage combo, and it works fine after crossups when you go straight for the medium kick. MK hands to sweep is particularly good against Balrog, since he’s easy to safe jump.
EDIT:
Oh, I should mention that another Specialists event is coming up tomorrow. A big 5v5 round robin featuring a bunch of socal teams.

Scheduled to start at 9:00pm Pacific on Friday. If you’re on the east coast… well, imagine the evo 5v5 done with a 6 team round robin, you can probably catch some of it on Saturday morning still.
Ariez posting: Yeb 1st off, stop anticipating and REACT!!! 2nd thing is… BLOCK PLEASE!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GEN BLOCK NIGGA!
FRAAAAAY!!!
JiBbo: Lol, double teamz. If you get lvl3 crumple off of their jump, dash up jump rh x2. :wgrin: Also, I believe you were much too obvious when playing footsies. You were playing as if you were always at balrog’s mercy – anticipating his movements rather than spacing and reaction to his options.
Jibbo: Yeah, hitting an airborne opponent with a FA is always a total surprise to me for some reason, I never manage to react properly.
And yes, I was throwing out a lot of random pokes. Primarily because I wanted to see just how much he could punish, and how consistently it could be done. Some of the times where it looked like I wasn’t blocking at all though, I was probably trying to see if I could do an ultra on reaction to a jab straight. It’s possible around the tip of its range, but too difficult to be worthwhile.
PS. Good luck vs. Marn, when do you play him?
I played Marn, he kicked the shit out of me. Really tough Sagat and great reaction time. Beware his Viper too.

At :16 :wow: that standing strong to Crane Crouching short in the iddle of that string of combos was awesome. I know its part of the Challenge mode - tough to time and is quite effective. neat trick
Edit after seeing this, it may look great but the damage is so bad.
Jibbo is going to get scraped by me, no need to ask him when he plays me =]
You post everywhere whenever someone mentions your name, do you just search the forum somehow for all new posts with “marn” in them?
I see, didn’t know u were experimenting. Have watched a lot of your fights and never saw u whiff so many ultras and supers. And also saw u whiff mk-hands continuation more than your usual style. Hence i was thinking u must be getting tired or losing your tempo, so i thought why not just cross-up the mp/hp-hands. Seems to do good damage for me as personally i was never good at mk-hands being a pad-user and all.
BTW how do u think u’ll do against daigo? Jibbo had a great run until daigo stuck to his cool and jibbo seem to have made some mistakes if i recall. Saw u against marn though and he seems to give u a hard time with viper.
I’ve been thinking about switching my avatar to a picture of asiantom, with the costume user title “AsianTom Fan”.
Yeb: I didn’t play marn. I could have on friday, but I turned him down. At the moment, I didn’t want to humor him.
It’s a no win situation. Money doesn’t mean shit to me. Losing sucks especially against someone like marn and winning isn’t rewarding to me in SF4. This will sound cocky as shit, but I know I can beat anybody in the US. I just have zero ambition/hunger for the game.
SF4 really means nothing to me these days.
Oh, I did play Flash and Sanford’s Viper in casuals though. They pretty much beat me much more than I beat them. I think against Sanford it was like 5-2 and Flash it was like 4-2 or something, with one of those wins being against his blanka. Oh and then Team NC got wrecked by Flash. That was fun.
As far as the tournament, I lost to WeakSauce and Dr. Chaos pretty early. The brackets were tough. After Chaos beat me, he had to play Andre and PR Balrog and I think aquasilk in between those two, or maybe aquasilk put him in losers…
lol,that does sound pretty cool.
rofl jibbo
good shit
