You obviously havnt watched any of yebs videos then, he is a beast compared to Rahshaan. Edit: I also think Jibbo could take him too.
I dont agree. Watch Rahshaans videos against Abel, he DESTROYS him. He seems to pull shit off alot more consistently than both Yeb and Jibbo IMO
Hmm, you mean the Abel that didnāt know that matchup? Thatāll happen. (link the video of the abel, only one Abel match comes to my mind)
Oh and you mean the match where Rahsaan couldnāt finish one set of Gekiro?
I have a lot of respect for Rahsaan as a player and a fellow Gen player. But truly, heās not a Gen player. He spreads himself amongst a bunch of other characters. And while heās still good with Gen, heās definitely not as consistent as Jibbo or Yeb.
What exactly does Rahsaan do consistently as Gen? I know he doesnāt do MK~hands consistently and like I just mentioned, especially in that Abel video, he doesnāt do Gekiro consistently.
JiBboās button of the week! In an effort to balance my neutrality in SF4 with a bit of productiveness, and since I donāt update my own thread anymore, Iāll be writing about a normal every week.
:lovin: Low Forward
Stats (according to srk wiki): 7 startup. 3 active frames. 17 recovery. 26 total frames. +1 on block. +3 on hit. Low profile. Low hitting.
As anti-air: Itās an option here because of low profile. I havenāt really used it in this manner, because I feel Iām covered with all the spots with other things but I can imagine where it could come in useful. To me itās one of those things where if I feel to hesitant Iād rather be defensive about the jump in then get hit by randy-savage elbow into tiger upper > ultra.
As mid range poke: Pretty good. Itās slower than stand forward and has less range, so itās not the button you wanna whiff punish with, or whiff without it contacting the other person. However, this is genās longest poke that has + frames on block and it hits low, so itās actually pretty good for setting up the next normal on block or hit from a distance. It is also interesting to note that on counter hit, it becomes +5 on hit, and you can counter hit confirm into standing mk > super/hands.
As a wake-up option: Timed meaty, it serves as a good low hitting normal plus on block and hit, and you can actually hit confirm standing jab > hands. If blocked youāre +1 or better (up to +4 with 3 active hit frames) so you still have offensive options from there, like low jab or grab. If it hits, you still have the same options if you donāt choose to hit confirm into stand jab. Maybe in range for close strong if blocked? Or walk-up?
Itās a good button! Try it.
Edit: Gen player vs Gen player talk = :bluu:
Iām an extremely scrubby Gen player and mostly play online but Iāll probably be uploading some vids just for fun of matches between me and my friends. So far I havenāt uploaded any matches but I made a quick video showing some regular basic stuff just to test out how the recording works, so nothing new really.

A friend of mine has recently started up a YouTube Channel maining Gen exclusively :o i play on a few of the vids [as Ken lolololol my bad ^_^] but yeah, he didnt wanna link it on here for fear of getting flamed caus he thinks heās just an average player. Im sure heād appreciate it if you Gen veterans could check out a few of his vids and drop him some advice etc
Dude, didnt Rahshaan beat you pretty bad? He would kick my ass badly i know that. Mk~hands is meh, and I dont think anyone could pull off a perfect Gekiro everytime. I think Gen is more than just MK hands myself. Yea its a good combo but alot of people know it now and its pretty easy to just block it.
So what he doesnt just play Gen exclusively. Im pretty sure Jibbo plays Chun Li too. I think its better to play more than one character, you will learn matchups alot better IMO. I play a decent Honda and I been trying to learn Gouken too, altho I suck at him.
What does Rahsaan beating me ābadlyā have anything to do with the conversation?
Plus, if you read my post I asked āWhat exactly does Rahsaan do consistently as Gen?ā I brought up MK~Hands and Gekiro up as examples. You still have yet to tell me what he does consistently.
Iām beginning to grow really tired of conversing with you lol. I see now that Iāve been baited and why you have much neg rep.
Rashaan is good, but itās easier to pull off moves against people that arent familiar with gen. This is because you dont feel as much pressure so the chances of you dropping links are alot lower than against others. But even so, iāve seen more consistency in jibboās gen than others. And why do you even mention how badly rashaan beat tom? Itās irrevelant. That tournament was likeā¦ what? 4 months ago? People do get better you know.
Lets all be friends here. lol
Hey,lets see more Gen vids ppl!!!
Tournament last weekend. Execution was very terrible.
asiantom vs tubsy (gief)
asiantom vs CP (ken)
asiantom vs Weak Sauc3 (SA/Boxer)
asiantom vs Damdai (VI/KE)
Yeah I seen your stuff on FADC live, even though you missed alot of combos you did awesome tom,I was cheering you on from the start bud.
Thank you friend :]
Just watched all of your matches. First off, good shit right there. You did very well, dropped combos and all. Second, a question. I donāt think I saw you use wtf kick as an anti air once. Why is that? I know cr.hp in Mantis is good as AA, and cr.rh in crane is too, but the wtf kick does good damage and builds good meter? Why do you avoid it?
Iām just looking for info, Iām still pretty lame skill wise, and am trying to get better. Should I be dropping or at least reducing Gekiro from my game?
When you say WTF kick do you mean Gekiro or Oga? I dont remember Oga being an anti air.
gekiro. The what the fuck/waterfall kick. itās just easier to type sometimes
EDIT: although I wish EX Oga was an anti air. What if it hit on the way up like Vegaās did? Especially if it juggled into the kick, which still juggled into whateverā¦
Too broken tho?
Heh,I always thought his Oga was the waterfall kick.
I use it differently during different matches ups.
Shotos and Sagat I stay away from it because I find I do it too late or something and it gets stuffed by HPs or HKs.
I use it a lot during my matches with Rufus and I guess other characters who have sort of a floaty jump (chun, bison)
Also, Iām pretty bad at DPing haha. My AA has been pretty weak until recently. But I still think itās pretty bad.
I see. I know what you mean about the Shotos, I get my Gekiro stuffed fucking constantly by their jump in HKs.
Iāve been trying to incorporate mantis cr.HP more into my game, but it seems pretty strict in terms of spacing.
I want to start looking into adding crane cr.HK into my game but it seems really strict in terms of timing.
So I still Gekiro as AA pretty often, but it just seems fairly lacking for an AA because of (Iām assuming) the gap from invincible frames and attack frames
Check out my gen
SO IM DEF. NOT THE BEST OF COURSE NOTHING LIKE JIBBO OR YEBā¦BUT
I WOULD LIKE FOR YOU GUYS TO LET ME NO HOW I DOā¦
ALWAYS UP FOR GOOD CRITISIM THAT WILL HELP IMPROVE MY GAMEā¦
THEY HAVE TOURNAMENTS HERE IN FREDERICKSBURG EVERY FRIDAY AND I TRY MY BEST TO REPRESENT GEN TO THE FULLESTā¦LOL
SO CHECK OUT THE VIDS AND LET ME KNOWā¦
