"Lay Hands on'em!" Gen Video Thread

It’s really noticable how fast he builds meter now. In the vid against Claw he lost that first round and in the second round he got super in no time even though he didn’t hit much, awesome.

Also, in the same vid against Claw, in the last round Vega was stunned in 7 hits (2 were trades), I don’t know stun values that much but that seems rather fast for a character like Gen?

Yeah I’m looking for everything these days

how in the hell do some gen players play so loose and still get so many wins? im dumbfounded. oh well. whatever works i guess

i think gen is a tricky character with those jump arcs (and ogas have deceptive recovery), and this is his debut in the japanese arcade scene

once people get it, each bad jump-in, bad oga, neutral jump gimmick… are all going to get owned pretty bad

oh, dammit. i forgot the japanese arcade exclusive crowd hasnt seen gen until now

even so, there are quite a few gen players winning a ton online.(grain of salt)

i play solid all day and get my shit pushed in. granted that its harder to play solid online than it is to just do whatever you want and hope the other guy cant stop it

They’re just unfamiliar, but in the end they will catch up to our shenanigans and tricks when exposed enough. That’s ok, it will force Gen players to become more solid I assume. I play solid too, but online the better player doesn’t nearly always win as much as he should. Gen, fuerte and viper online are the hardest street fighter challenges you could give to yourself imo.

true, most of the players had problems because they were super clueless in the matchup, a lot of japanese player play on console too but still a good gen is kinda rare. though i have to say, when gen’s owning people with fancy combos and that quick meter build(makin people scared of combo into super), it looks kinda awesome lol

i have nothin but respect for gen users hehe

Ty for uploading them. I laughed at some of the quotes in the VS screen.

In the beginning of claw vs gen video, he hit Oga and followed up with crane s.HK, which gained a bit more than half a meter bar. This case is the same in SSF4, so I’ll guess meter gain for Oga and crane s.HK haven’t changed.

If you add up stun values of all the attacks he did in the 4th round, it’ll be slightly more than 900, and claw has 900 stun.

Looks like he gains more super meter from roll, as you can see in the beginning of VS boxer video. I’m going to try this myself in the training mode when I have time.
At the 2:02-2:05 during boxer video, he hits with full LK gekiro after his meter becomes empty. Did meter gain change? Not sure.

Yea, I’m just looking at these since I can’t play it yet =[

yeah nothing against the videos you recorded eh
thank you for posting them, more gen footage in the future is obviously appreciated

thanks

sure thing, im sure theres gonna be more footage of the gen player since he’s based from around here.

then again i cant promise to have the camera on me all the time lol (though i live only 2mins away haha)

The Gen in Shoryuken - Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition Footage Digest - 12/25/10 is pretty amazing. One of the better Gens I have seen in a long time.

Care to tell us which of the 30 videos he is shown in?

EDIT: it’s the first one, around 16’17

aw man he was doing so good the first 2 matches but i think he kind of panic against the abel.

Took forever to render smh

just found this video on youtube

this gen (with 24000+ BP) is currently n.1 in the japanese AE leaderboards, with insane win/loss ratio… probably the guy hoigek was talking about

hes making pretty good use of the HP-MK target combo… with the cLK>cLP>HP-MK xx LK Gek

and sweet new combos with TC and FADC (HP-MK xx Hands, FADC, sMP, HP-MK xx Gek)

 • goood damage considering makoto has 1000 stamina in AE, and dmg scaling for her life bar being half empty
 • it built almost a whole EX bar back :L

no use of crLK-crMK though

Nice find! At some point he did cr.lk, cr. lp, cr.lk, cr.mp xx hands. It’s clear that cr.mp does not link from cr.lk, but that’s probably a nifty frame trap with the faster cr.mp.

His name reads Amiyu if that helps at finding out who he is =o

It’s Amiyu88 probably.

Loving the new cr mp. Also cool to see someone use walkup oga crossup in a match successfully…

I use it all the time, that cross-up is godlike and is pretty much guaranteed unless they do a reversal that beats out Oga.

The way he used those TCs were lovely lol, I would AE Gen now! I never heard of this JPN Gen player…anymore footage of him?
