"Lay Hands on'em!" Gen Video Thread

lol why is this posted? this is like a year old. okay maybe not a year. but a damn long time ago.

We should do a rematch.

Here. You can see me use the new TC and my Gen in action. Also, you can see Joe Dubbs’ godlike execution and Gen’s horrible health/stun. You can also see me testing if Mantis U2 will AA with cinematic. (Spoiler Alert: It doesn’t). Sorry for the shitty quality… it was my friend’s camera phone and FFA is fucking loud.

How many wins did you get before this fight? It seems you are in double digits. Dubbs is the best Dudley i’ve seen since Marn beat Daigo.

Yeah, he beats me like 3 of 4 matches. He’s extremely good and he’s a great guy. I’m glad he’s helping me learn the matchup by making me lose my money hahaha. I think at that point in the video, I had a 18 win streak.

That long ass combo in round 2 was crazy, and unlike marn he actually completes the full combo instead of dropping it for some shitty reset.

He actually dropped the combo so he could reset for more damage at one point. I should have been backdashing out of it instead of trying to block dudley’s amazing frame traps and high-low. It’s a really difficult matchup. If you can see, I was alternating between footsies, spacing AA’s, and trying to mix him up. Most of the time I was just trying to keep him out.

Oh, well I have no clue about what dudley can do so that’s why I didn’t see that, I’m also very cranky because of what Capcom has done to my favorite character Seth =( Did you play any Seths? :expressionless:

I never play Dudley with my Gen either, that matchup feels hard when I do. I prefer to use Viper myself.

EDIT: Can’t Gen punish machine gun blow (blocked) with s.mp mk hands? I’m pretty sure he can, right?

Yeah. I played Tim’s Seth. He mains him (I think he’s also Tekken National champ? Or was?). He’s very good, but no yoga snipe and the reduced hitbox and time to input the following taps on headstops really fucked him up. You can still land headstomps, but you can’t delay between hits as long. Also, I heard he tried to do instant headstomps in the corner on big characters and it still whiffed. They really fucked that move up. I know he whiffed shoryu->fadc->headstomps on me three times out of five.

I felt so bad for what they did to Seth and Cammy. Both are much harder to use and had a lot of their tools taken away or just screwed up. Seth got some new links and more health/stun though, so people will have to play him differently. He’s still good, just not as good.

yea Cammy and Seth got the gen treatment, good tools taken away but some new links. i think Cammy can still be scary but im not sure about Seth. we have to wait a few mouths to see how it turns out.

This is a common mistake. Copy-pasting from another thread:

Summary: If you block the first hit of the TC, you’ll get hit by the second hit if you move the stick to back or forward, but you will still block if you move the stick to down-forward.

Credit to everyone here at SRK. Gave credit to Thebook24 for putting the time into finding out c.MK info.

This is for Gen n00bs so enjoy.

Repost from AE Changes Thread. If you haven’t seen my postings, please check out the latest batch of notes (and pictures of the damage new B&B’s do):

You can kinda see it (How fast Crane U2 is) here. I didn’t link this video earlier because I was still trying to figure out how to use the new target combo and seeing if Crane U2 was easier to cross up. I was pretty disappointed with how I did in this match.

Hope you all see how impossible it can be to try to test these things in casuals with super aggressive opponents, haha.

van is super dirty with u2.

I’ll be posting videos weekly showcasing combos/setups that I’ve performed, or have had done on me. As well I will be taking requests to record your combos to feature them. I was going to make a new thread but I’ll just post them here each week. Let me know if you have a video of you doing an awesome combo. I will not take combos someone has performed on you. Sounds dumb, but meh.

if you want i’ll help you for some idea

Thank you for explaining, but I’m aware of it (like 2-hit overhead making 2nd hit cuz the opponent tends to press down-back after blocking the 1st one)

However, there was absolutely no reason for the blanka player to stand up at that point of the video, and the fact that his crane normal chains is not a true blockstring makes me lean towards the explanation that the TC will not be a true blockstring. I’ll try to think more positive from now on though.

edit: and wait what crane normal chains? st.mp overhead is not a chain per se, but a normal with 2 hits… perhaps i’m misunderstanding

why no reason for blanka to stand up? he could have been trying to dashback, feeling pressed to get out of throw range, tried to do a up-ball or some other mistake… maybe he just panicked.

EDIT: the following is not correct!!! need to test the TC to know.
pretty sure it will be a true block string unless they changed the mechanics of TCs. the block stun from cr.lk is 10, more than enough to cover for cr.mk’s 7 frame startup if you use TC timing to chain into cr.mk on either active frame of cr.lk. you get to skip all recovery frames (including remaining active) while chaining, much like a cancel.

I’m pretty sure s.LP, s.LP & s.LP, c.LK are chains.

I beg to differ about chaining skipping all recovery frames, otherwise there would be no possible explanation on why mentioned Crane jab chains wouldn’t be a true blockstring (you can mash SRK in between no matter how fast you mash it).
