I know what I did wrong and right in these videos. But if you feel you need to tell me go ahead. But I’ve already analyzed them many times.

All great vids, really  I subscribed to your channel just now (I’m the one who commented about hating Ken). Hey, the Blanka fight & hate mail is awesome.

Stop jumping. Seems like the only way you know how to approach is by jumping. I’m not even exaggerating.

iI jump when I need to. Works for me.

May work for you agianst people who can’t handle it but i’m telling you you’re mad predicable bro. I watched a couple of those matches and I don’t think i saw you walk up and play footsies ONCE. If you’re close and you’re not comboing somebody or trying to frame trap them you’re backing up so you can do another crane stance jump.

what are Gen footsies tools? I always thought the granny is too fragile to rely much on that… Mantis cr. hk has long range but besides that…

mk hands is still really good. fools can’t focus it because it hits too quick. Cr.hp is a gdlk anti-air. Cr.mk hands is pretty good if you want the low pressure and it has a really low hitbox so it’s usefull to get under certain moves that can’t hit that low(eg.dudley st.hp,fwd hp, duck straight/upper). Cr.hp is also a good poke as it’s a little longer than mk. Cr.hk is a good poke every once in a while but it’s pretty bad on block(-13 or so iirc) so you really just want to use it at the tip every once in a while to make sure they’re blocking low. Gen has a pretty dang good walk speed(B grade in mantis, A in crane) as well so he can use that to his advantage in a lot of match-ups. Health shouldn’t be a problem if you play good footsies.

I honestly never play gen anymore. But when i do on rare occasions i still beat people because i have good footsies. The reason you see chun do so well is because she has gdlk footsies so her health doesn’t hold her back too much.

Edit: The way i think gen should be played is very similar to vanilla but using some different combos. When you have 2 bars be ready to fadc the last hit of hands when your mk hands connects and turn it into some real damage. Then go back to footsies. Obviously this should be adjusted to each match-up. But this will work for most characters.

actually when I play vs really good players that I know I have to play foosties, I do. Like when I play vs someone called Dante Valmonte. I play mad foosties. just depends on the player man. but how about this. I’ll try to force myself to jump less. It’s really a fact of me thinking gen still has his god like jump. but normally man, when I play vs higher players of if my jumping isn’t working. I don’t jump unless I’m almost sure it would work. But I’ll jump less play more footsies and see what happens.

Actually in fact one of the reasons I don’t use footsies too much online is because people jump over my attempts to poke. so I just move back in forth, let them jump in their selves and AA.

The only reason I say this stuff is because i never see it. But if you do it then I’d like to see it.

Also reacting to jump ins are a part of footsies.

That’s not what I’m saying. What I’m saying is 80% of the people I play vs online jump too much. So trying to poke sometimes is pointless. Just waiting for them to jump and AA works better. If I try to play poke footsies they jump in and I don’t have enough time to react.

talking about gen videos… anything from asia?

look at post #857

ouch, my bad… ty very much

I’ve tried to tell him on various occasions. I’m yet to see him put up some video’s of him using footsies. He has no idea how to approach someone without jumping.

And he can tell you all he likes that he plays footsies against higher level players. But it just doesn’t work like that. If you never practice footsies, you’ll never be good at footsies and never learn what pokes beat what. Or when or what anti air to use. If the enemy is jumping all day, don’t stoop to their level and just be the better dumbass, be the better player, anti air their shit all day and learn footsies because if jumping is all they know, they wont know wtf to do when you anti air and keep the poking pressure on and just die.

You can’t really tell who the better player is when you’re both playing on the trampoline. But when one of them never takes a foot off the ground and punishes all the enemies jump ins, you can clearly see who the better player is. Otherwise it’s just kind of random luck of who jumps at the right time which will seem in gens favor a lot just cause his good jump in and weird arch so people aren’t ready for it. But that’s all it is.

Online is the training mode for learning how to fight players. If you just stoop to their level, you’re not going to learn anything, you’re just abusing lack of knowledge, and all these damn replays are boring as shit when you do nothing but the same thing over and over again.

this statement shows a general lack of the concept of playing footsies. its not all about offensive pokes. on the first layer, its about offensively poking, but on a deeper level, you use normals to condition your opponent to do different things.

if you walk into the same range and always throw out a standing mk or crouching mp, of course the opponent will jump over it at some point. you are being predictable at that certain range. but if you walk in to that same range and whiff a standing jab for example, and your opponent jumps you will be able to AA him. its not just the bad players who jump pokes. all players do it if you are predictable

you can create offensive oppenings in the same way. walk into your feint/poke range, pause very briefly and do nothing, then walk in and throw while your opponent waits to block your poke, for example.

it take practice to develop a deep level of footsies, but the first step is to force yourself not to jump, as to break that bad habbit, and develop the good habbit of using your normals to create openings.

before you jump start asking yourself what did you do in order to set up that jump. maybe you walk in and low foward into hands once. on your next approach you could walk into that range, crouch briefly and then jump

Knockdown, walkup, crane st.mp, repeat,

Knockdown, walkup, crane st.hp lolwut 200 damage 300 stun 1 hit?

Fer real. It kinda makes me sad to see his game-play reduced to such a level.

Honestly I want to see some good players come out of this forum. As of right now I honestly don’t see anything worth mentioning. Nothing personal against anybody I just haven’t seen it. BUT, I want to. AND, I honestly think it can happen.

what?? In Vanilla yes. In SSF4 absolutely not.

Crane still has a long range on it. And yes it does mess with people still. If I’m bored I still do it to get a laugh jumping back and forth with mk. Some people don’t know wtf to do so they just get hit everytime. And I still get more successful cross ups with crane than I do mantis because people don’t realize how far it goes.

So yes, Absolutely yes. You can’t say I’m wrong because crane jump was the one that always has thrown people off and it didn’t change much compared to mantis jump. Mantis jump just sucks now.
