I’m posting any tips on your videos themselves. You may or may not know what I’m giving you, however you weren’t doing sometimes and I’m just giving insight to maybe bring it to your attention again.

thanks man. Any suggestions and tips are welcome. i want to improve my game. I want to enter a UK tourney in August and i dont want to get my ass handed to me by mainly shoto’s.

Is there anything i can do in training mode to improve my game against shoto’s?

well I noticed your execution accuracy was low when using s.MP to s.MK practice that over and over. When I use s.MP, s.MP, s.MK I watch gen or the other characters model to let me know when I can press it again. against really high level shotos you will be zoned out hard or rushed down. Learn to be patient and when to strike. Practice this. Gen vs Ryu, set the Training options to Record. Make Ryu LP Hadouken, then LP Shoryuken. Then practice the distance it is safe for gen to jump over the FB or Focus Attack through it so Gen can safely attack Ryu. Also practice the normals that can punish them. Basically that is what you need to practice vs Shotos on an offensive level. On a defensive level, practice Crane c.HK, Mantis c.HP. Once again learn the distances vertically and horizontally. Let me know if you need other help. Add me to XBL if you want. I’m east coast canada. so the connection might not be perfect, but it should do the trick.

You can improve your jump in combos to punish fireballs, like crane j.hkx2> mantis s.mp> mk hands and all that. You missed that mp mk hands link sometimes so that’s a point of attention.
Maybe read up on matchup specific info alot and work on general and Gen specific footsies/mindgames. In the shenanigans thread there are some interesting tips on baiting and mindgames.

i find it hard to land KKK j.hkx most of the time…i dont know why?!.. i’ve been more successful using KKK j.hp. TBH i’ve been avoiding reading the matchup info, bcoz i want to learn and try to adapt during a match. but i think i need to read up on certain match ups.

(Rose) Damn she can be hard to get in on, if you think of all her tools.

(The Scrubbiest Ryu I’ve played in Super. Watch him Mash SRK. At one point he throws a random super. You know he was really mashing the SRK. Totally makes it hard for tick throws, etc. Gotta love online play. My execution online is way slack compared to playing arcade on hard offline. Ya the competition is weaker but I can still hit my freaking links, combos with ease. Sometimes it feels like it’s pointless to practice offline.)

I understand your philosophy, but I would still recommend reading up on matchups especially punishes (like mashing out hp hands after Bisons scissor kicks) to make it easier. Adapting comes naturally with experience anyway.

You probably have trouble with it because of his new jump arc maybe? It’s a very useful move.

it’s a very useful move because it has amazing reach so if you are jumping over projectiles you will hit them before they can potentially hit you. unfortunately this damn jump arc still makes it easy for these types of characters to punish gen. so jumping over fireballs isn’t always free now. with online delay and reaction times, a light fireball is godlike. unless they are stupid to throw it footsie distance away. what i have a problem with is when i land it sometimes it looks like it’s too deep and only one hit lands and throws me off. you can see an example of that in the rose video in my last post @ 1:16. I love using the j.HP thought because if they throw a projectile when you are in close sometimes Gen’s butt lands on them, especially Guiles Sonic Hurricane.

As much as I like playing Rose I must say I don’t enjoy fighting her much. Her poke/Soul Spiral pressure annoys the crap of me, and so does U2 because I can’t do shit about it be it gen or Viper lol.

I’m the same, I love playing her, she is fun, I love that she has so many tools like Gen. But like you said, she can be awfully hard to fight against. Focus Attacking Soul Sparks usually isn’t a good idea in close as you will eat a Soul Spiral.

(Fei Long) It’s a loss but was a good fight. Not to take anything away from this Fei player, but I’m not that familiar with the match-up, so to the drawing board I go. I had beat him before but my reaction to his Chicken Wings were a lot better in the last game. Enjoy.

This is a SF4 match of Keno’s Gen. Obviously Gen is much different now, but I still like the way Keno paced and spaced himself. It’s a very tense and interesting match.

If you watch, Gen’s meter building isn’t that much better than in Super. People just need to step away from c.lk c.lp links. s.MP, s.MP is where it’s at.

As you all know Ryu’s and Kens are some of my worst matches. I think I’m progressing pretty well against them. I still dash back a lot, but not as much and not as many Oga Feints. I feel I’m staying close enough to them where I don’t have to spend so much time trying to get in again.

Few mistakes but over-all I think I’m handling Ryu’s okay now. He’s still a battle but not as frustrating as before… (for now)

Hope you guys enjoy and even though I know what I’m doing wrong, feel free to give any tips.

oh ya, enjoy the Abel kick to the nuts round 1.
