I will give buddy props for having that many points with Hakan. They should give him a move where he can throw oil at you to stun you a little. Kind of like how Ibuki’s Dagger works. Or throw it at your feet as a knock down. I dunno.
Random slides are ftl. Random oil up is ftl. His anti-air game is mostly game mechanics at work, but he can anti-air with slide. Anti-air with s.fierce. When oiled he can back dash DNC for anti-air too (invincible normals). But what he lacks in anti-air he makes up for in air to air. He’s low tier, but so is Gen sooo… Gen is so jump dependent now and Hakan can really capitalize on that. I’m willing to bet Hakan can hold his own when both are into footsie mode too. He arguably has better gimmicks than Super Gen. DDT wake-up pressure setups, oiled DNCs, he’s pretty interesting. I wouldn’t say he’s better than Gen or necessarily worse really, I’m not going to make any calls like that. I just don’t think the one nkn fought wasn’t any good. Just sayin’ don’t underestimate Hakan.
he actually has really good footsies, I was watching I think Daigo play him and he was keeping someone out very well.
Meh whatever, I still think hes horrible.
He is, but so are Gen, Guy, and Makoto. Any character can win.
I doubt any of the characters mentioned will do well on big tournies.
Here’s a video of another Japanese player, Zorusan. He has roughly 10k BP and plays similarly to amiyu. He seems to prefer c.mp hands as his poke and uses the combo c.lk>c.lp>s.mp>hands.

Also, I found this page quite interesting. I’m not sure if you all have already seen this or not. It was new to me anyway:

Wow awesome match. Love that Seth too, an offensive Seth is such eyecandy ^^ Thanks.
That list was already posted in the tier list (or was used as a basis for it iirc) but thanks for digging it out anyway.
(Very good Guile)
This match shows how Guile has trouble with Ogas. This was a very hard match at first because he was zoning and AA’ing me like mad. That is Guiles BNB tactics right there IMO. But once I realized it wasn’t working I started to play different. I got caught in Round one by a FA. Enjoy.
Yeah Guiles generally don’t like crossups either. A good Guile vs a good Gen is like minimalism vs technicality: Gen needs to get inside and go bananas, Guile needs to minimize the ways for Gen to get inside.
That guy literally was like wtf I bet after the first round, You basically outpoked him everytime in the air, and yuour Ogas were exactly on point when he did sonic boom. He definately lost his cool as he got way too impatient.
I like how you can read matches like me. I’ve defiantly learned to be more patient. However the first round wasn’t much of that. I wanted to get in on him too fast. I should’ve slowed my game down, but the other rounds I feel I did just that. Guile has too many options after his sonic boom, which makes him such a good character. Sonic boom, Air Throw. Sonic boom, Flash kick. Sonic boom, Anti-Air. Really makes for a non-fire ball character to get in on him. It was great practice and our 2nd match was some what similar. He beat me first round again same way, he got a Focus attack off really fast and crumpled me into Ultra 2. But this time I used U2 as well. It’s not that great of a match compared to the first one, but I might record and upload it. He defiantly wasn’t used to it since I caught him crouching. He may have been trying to do a Crouch AA not sure.
Edit: Warlike- your criticism is always appreciated.
Sorry man, I wouldn’t call this guy a very good Guile. And Guile’s have as much trouble as everyone else when it comes with dealing with Oga, which is 0. Everyone who sees an oga should just block and punish. It’s a really bad move that, despite having it’s speed increased, it still really slow and easy to see/block.
After he got hit by the first Oga, you see he just starts panicking. He wakes up with unsafe flash kicks, whiff throws even though you were in no throw range, and wake up jump back (I don’t know anyone who would do this).
I guess I’m mainly criticizing the Guile and I’m also arguing the viability of Oga.
I keep trying to get to 6000 bp but I get my ass handed to me if I play with Gen, so horrible
Doesnt help theres only like 10 players that have the same amount of bp so you keep playing a select group everyday…
Asiantom, your avatar has made me presume you might’ve switches characters?
I’ve played him before and he was a lot better. I still won but he put up more of a fight. We can’t always be good. As for Oga, I find it very useful when using angled version vs Balrogs and Guiles. People often try to punish it in the air and allow me to punish them with the oga. I Normally I don’t throw ogas out like mad until I see how they play.
I just don’t think he knew how to handle oga, which is totally understandable, no one plays Gen rarely. Not even in Vanilla did I come across many Gens. If you can give me some insight on how to fight guiles that sonic boom zone like that. I’m all hears homie.
EDIT: Azntom - I don’t take things you and other Gen players with a grain of salt so feel free to enlighten me, I would love to get more info.
Yep, unfortunately, due to the last two tournaments of Super I’ve played in (ECT2 and Wallcade), I saw how poorly I did and started to think about Gen. Players from my area also took note of it and suggested I switch and I took their advice and I’m switching to Akuma.
I really like Gen as a character (not even talking about game play mechanics) and I don’t think Gen is terrible but a lot of his matchups have gotten a lot worse, mainly because of EX-walldive being removed.
I don’t know how I’ll fare now, in hindsight a lot of my victories with Gen were from lack of match up knowledge on the other players end and some were even a bit flukey. Oh well!
nice i love akuma but for some reason can’t get into him in Super, he just feels totally different with timing. I’ll never stop playing him. I’ve picked up a little rose too i like her in this. Good luck with akuma man. sux to see such a talented gen player move away from him.
Can’t blame him, even online I get raped for free but when I play with Seth or C.viper I can be a beast. Gen is like a horrible uphill battle every single time, and I don’t mind that at all but on a competitive level I just cannot see him working out. Gen just isn’t cutting it (lol hands pun) in some areas anymore. The only real decision I have to make now is who to switch over to: Seth or Viper.
Good luck to you Asiantom, akuma is not my kind of character at all but if you feel he fits I hope you will perform better at tourneys and I hope you let us know, wuv you <3
- Me vs Rhyllis (Makoto)
… I still don’t understand why he left Gen for Makoto. That was just painful to watch. Rhyllis’ SF4 Gen videos were always good.
I believe he played Makoto in S3 not sure. He goes between the two, but I think he plays Makoto more. Sucks though, he is a really great Gen player, I believe he is a pad user and he does so well without having to use hands.
