I used to mash crouch tech all day, but as I got to playing better players obviously they exploit me throwing shorts out all the time (with late SRK’s or whatever). One player in particular told me he late techs, which is basically teching on reaction. It was annoying at first because I’d get thrown a lot, but I’d devote whole casual matches to just late teching throws, even if I lost I’d make sure not to get thrown. Also, it helps to know people’s throw patterns. The main pattern after a jump in is usually (Jump attack (blocked), low short (block), throw attempt) Unless of course they’re Ken, in which case they can throw out 3 ticks and Kara!
I still have a lot of trouble teching Chun Li’s and Vega’s throws because their walk speeds are a little too much haha. I still use the option select a lot, but I’m a lot more careful with it, especially during some match ups like against Bison.

try to be more specific if possible. you used the word basically which makes it seem like theres a little more to your method. sorry if im pestering you with this, but throw teching and being sound defensively is way more important than combos and what not to me. thanks in advance

Heh, I was playing online yesterday and this Gen player whooped my ass with all the stuff I developed way back when. I’m not sure how I felt about it. On one hand, I can take credit for seeing a random Gen player beat me with all the tools I’ve perhaps given him. On the other, dude just whooped my ass in a game I hate online and off. :lol:

I keed I keed. Great stuff! I was starting to feel “washed up” since I don’t practice at all, but I’m starting to get it back. I have to, since I’m playing somebody for 100 at Final Round. 'll be on at the same time if you wanna get some games in.

Stewwage: Great matches! I felt like I got quite bit of rust off messin around with you. Sorry my Gen was kinda ass, I’m using a fighting stick with stock parts. It really sucks for Gen execution stuff, I couldn’t do MK hands consistently at all and online timing made it useless for me.
You were difficult to get control of and you seem to always stick to your game plan. I was impressed by your sense of spacing. I hope you learned some stuff playing me 
Man Gen’s jump is a pain in the DICK to anti-air online! haha

yeah i thought as much, i caught on to that the first time we played when i counter hit your AA twice at least. I’m in california so we’re pretty far apart. But i was missing combo’s as well and sakura’s jump ins were pretty hard for me to AA as well so i guess we’re even

Your ryu gave me a bunch of trouble at first because i had JUST quit playing against a ryu player who played VERY much scared of me and barely ever threw fireballs hahaha.
The biggest i learned was you can’t ultra gen’s ultra :looney:
Damn I’d say the connection wasn’t half-bad then considering we’re completely opposites sides of USA.
You have to throw fireballs at Gen at dragon punch him when he jumps. And play a good ground game as well. Otherwise he has no reason to not have his way with Ryu. I was trying to emulate how Daigo played me and combined with what I know about Gen.
I was having a lot of trouble with beating the ground tech :sad:. That’s why I initially picked Sakura, so I could counter hit the low short and punish you harder (and it’s easier to do with her :P). I was curiuos how you would adjust.
But yeah overall, lag sucks.

That match was actually exactly what came to mind when i started playing your ryu.
Yeah the crouch tech can be hard to deal with. Usually i will space myself out of their short range and then kara throw them after their short comes out on knockdowns. Or if they’re doing late crouch tech after a the hit confirm mp i’ll walk back a little bit so the short comes out and mk hands or sweep them.
You’re actually lucky i played gen the first time we played, usually when its a 3 bar or below i go sagat so i don’t have to rely on tight links for my damage lol. Online is stupid and i really hate playing it, but the only decent competition to session with is an hours drive and they scene can be really stupid at times. So i have to settle:bluu:.
