Personal opinions aside, the one thing I could never understand is how people can invest so much time and energy being against something that doesn’t really affect their lives. It’s one thing to have an opinion, and I’m actually against liberalism going to other extremes by castigating and destroying individuals’ lives who don’t subscribe to their groupthink mentality; but if another person’s preferences- scientifically inherent or otherwise, doesn’t infringe upon your rights or the rights of others, why do you care?
My only issue is when agenda groups seek to stifle scientific progress and understanding for the sake of preserving their “identity”. Like when scientists are objectively testing the root biological manifestations of gender and they treat it as some precursor to a future resembling GATTACA.
(You can’t exactly fault some people for feeling that way though, white shadow, especially given the nature of oppression and how it’s basically innate within humanity to look for and punish people for differences. On top of that, it’s rather arguable how useful even knowing the “root cause” of gender or sexuality would be for anything but attempts at changing it.)
…Well, this went even further down the hill quicker than I imagined and yet it’s still not as bad as I expected it would get given how contentious this issue always is and how everything seems to boil down to “it’s only okay if I can have sex with this person” for the people who don’t get it. Sigh.
To me, it would be completely fine if people were open about not being all comfortable or sure why they “should” call a transgender person whatever pronoun they want to be called, but still treated them as a person nonetheless. The whole transgender aspect is a difficult and confusing issue, but given that people can’t even seem to do that…well, I can’t say that I’m surprised despite most of you dissenting guys being some type of minority as well. I’ll be the first person to admit that transgender stuff still makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, but that doesn’t stop me from treating them like people.
You’re really not being oppressed by being forced to treat them as people even if you roll your eyes or scratch your head at why someone would want to have that procedure or be called that. Whether or not you accept that they’re an “actual” woman or an “actual” man similarly doesn’t have anything to do with them still being an actual person and deserving to be treated as such.
As it is, some of you are dangerously closed to being banned–The Question, SenninSRK, antman811–and not because you’re not on the “PC” side of things.

Studying the origins of gender in infancy could actually prevent crippling genetic defects, chromsomal abnormalities, chimerism, or the effects of outside stimuli (drugs, temperature) on the development of the fetus.
It’s like blaming Einstein and Neils Bohr for creation of nuclear arsenals, while ignoring the fact that many of us are also enjoying the benefits of nuclear power. Stifling any kind of progress just to fit one view is rather asinine, and ironically can be just as dogmatic as conservative religious groups… you know, the very ones liberal groups see as bastions of fearful ignorance.
Thank you for replying to this and in a mature fashion. I apologize if I sounded a bit heated, because I most certainly was after Sennin decided to call transgender people “freaks of nature”. In regards to Serpent, I don’t know… IMO he said some pretty vile and ignorant stuff in “that other thread”. Trolling/not taking things seriously isn’t an excuse to say shit like that, since it breeds a bad mentality for people that legitimately believe it’s okay to marginalize minorities. On a side note, it’s probably time to get new GD mods/admins, although I don’t really know if that’s a big priority right now. 
In regards to people being “forced” to address transgender people by what they preferred to be called, you are not being oppressed. C’mon. That is just silly logic. Calling a transgender female (or male, doesn’t matter) “she, her, etc.” is very simple, easy, and respectful. It’s not a hard concept to grasp to call a transgendered person what they prefer to be called out of being respectful to your fellow human beings. In the grand scheme of things, it’s something that is very important to them, and not very important to you (and if it that important to you, you’re probably at the point where you think transgender people are the devil’s workers, freaks of nature, or whatever, which makes you a prejudiced idiot), so why not just respect their wishes? It’ll all be gravy in the end if you do.
I’m not sure where people got the idea that they have a “right” to not try to treat marginalized groups like equal human beings just because you may not agree with their “choice” or whatever. While it’s true you might be entitled to your opinion, that doesn’t absolve you of having a completely shitty opinion. People need to get over themselves and stop holding their opinions so closely to the core of their being. A good analogy I heard about opinions is that they are not your identity, but rather items in a box you carry around with you; if those opinions are no good, don’t be afraid to change them out for new ones.
And for the record, having a different opinion doesn’t necessarily make you a bigot/piece of shit/prejudiced/whatever, calling a transgender person a “freak of nature” does.

It’s my opinion that when someone decides to interject a discussion with a point, they should attempt to rationalize and justify that point. In that other thread, when I spoke about the hashtag and supplied pictures to the demonization and vilification the women on there were saying about half the population being all potential rapist and abusers, someone like spirit juice swept in to defend those women while never bothering to explain why their bigotry was justified.
Maybe I could have just ignored his post as a deliberate troll…and upon reflection I should have. However I’m someone who can’t stand hypocrisy and when I see ignorance and bigotry I rightfully call it out. That’s all I’ll say on that and I apologize for any unneeded stress.
I constantly ignored your argument (and others of the same ilk) because it was completely irrelevant to the argument I was making, which was to be empathetic of women that deal with harassment far too often and try to help them. Tweets like “#YesAllWomen deal with cat calls and harassment” were the point of the hashtag, not the “DESTROY ALL MEN, THEY ARE ALL MURDERERS AND RAPISTS” tweets that a lot of people in that thread seemed to be tunnel visioning on that disagreed with me. It would have constantly kept going back to “but what about THESE tweets!” to undermine my point of view and those that shared my point of view. Lo and behold it kept circling back to that anyways, despite my best efforts not address a rather pointless argument. So no, I wasn’t saying any kind of “destroy all men” tweets were justified. I don’t know why you, or anyone else, would even think that without being completely blinded by confirmation bias. I hope that answers your question since it seems to have been bugging you for so long. I won’t be discussing it again.

Except as explained in that thread, the overwhelming amount of content on that hashtag wasn’t dealing with legitimate crimes but instead dealt with memes,retweets and rephrases of the bigoted,sexist and misandric tweets I posted. It would require tunnel vision to completely overlook the massive amount of stupidity constantly displayed on that hashtag…in fact the photo section of that hashtag was filled with the material I posted.
The problem with your argument is that you chose to ignore what the majority of women were posting and instead focused on defending a position no one was arguing against. No one ever said rape/ violence was ok, what people took issue with is that the hashtag was a lazily veiled excuse to promote radical feminist propaganda that all men are villains hence the famous M&M analogy.
Your failure to acknowledge what was actually being tweeted most of the time was the reason people called you out on your dishonest rebuttals. The hashtag quickly dissolved into a playground for tumnblr feminist sentiment which is why the YesAllCats hashtag was created to mock it. In short you didn’t address what was actually being said but instead what you preferred to refocus the argument on…why you did this no one knows but possibly because you wouldn’t have been able to play the marginalized groups card.
Edit: you also made some vague point that all men should fight against crimes against women which came off paternalistic and sexist…even after everyone asked you what you specifically meant by this you never really addressed it and just continued to dodge the issue…but hey if that’s how you do things then whatever.

you cant force people to like gays, blacks, trans, etc. but you can force them to respect the rights granted to them by the constitution as we always have once things change.
It’s one thing to say these groups have those rights. It’s another entirely in practice when they can still be abused by the system managed by those who don’t like them.
Everyone deserves basic human rights, respect, etc. However there are certainly some tricky issues, that go beyond simple prejudice, and are not so black and white.
Should transgender women be allowed to compete in female sports? Regardless of if they identify as female, genetically they are male and therefore have tremendous advantages in physical strength, speed, bone structure, etc. A big reason why generally mens and womens athletics are kept separate. It would completely destroy the integrity of womens sports.
Bathrooms? Unisex would be the easiest solution. However with the traditional male and female bathrooms there are a lot of obvious issues.
Prison? Men and women are held separately. So where do trans women and men be put?
