Laura Q&A Thread: Lightning Round

Someone care to explain to me this s**t: Why the hell couldn’t I interrupt with a lp or DP? Thanks

Laura is +2 after hitting with an lp elbow. If you both try to jab, you will get counterhit because she has frame advantage.
You should use mp shoryuken instead of hp. It has the most amount of invincible frames, making it perfect to stuff every incoming attack. If you tried to shoryu in between her elbow/jabs, you just probably mistimed it

You’re the man. Thanks for the tip

Does anyone know how +/- lauras normals are into forward and back v trigger on hit and block?

You mean her vskill? She seems to be negative despite what the situation is (connected or blocked normal). People can always mash a 3 frame jab or something if they are on point. This is something that should be buffed in my opinion; if Capcom does not improve her neutral game at all.

She should be +1 after a connected cr.mp xx vskill.

I was at work sorry I meant v skill. That’s a bummer I had a feeling she was still negative after a v skill on hit. She’s so high risk

If you mean her command dash after crmp on hit its -1.

Noob question here, Is it easier to play Laura on pad vs stick?

^I don’t think one is easier than the other, it’s just whatever you’re most comfortable with. I play pad (just grew up playing on home consoles and never felt right the few times I tried switching.) I’m not an amazing player, but I reached gold level and I have yet to find any Laura tech that isn’t totally doable on pad.

Thanks for the reply I’m in the same situation and recently got an arcade stick and of course it’s gonna feel weird switching but I felt like it was easier playing ryu on the stick as opposed to laura (my main)

So I’ve noticed high level players do s.lp, s.lp xx light bolt charge for pressure on hit. I can’t get s.lp to cancel into light bolt charge. I can get s.mp to cancel into light bolt charge. Can anybody give me some advice here?

You have to be fast

Can you cancel s.lp into light bolt charge?/

Of course you can. Since though it’s a 3f jab it’s easy to end up linking it instead of canceling. It just requires practice.
You can also do LK, LK xx LP Bolt which opens up for a nice mixup with the tick throw.

^
What oceansalt said.
Put the training dummy on random block and practice st lp, st lp xx lp bolt only on hit. You’ll get the timing down

Hmm I dunno I simply cannot do it. Is it only on counter hit or something?

Nope

You need to buffer the qcf before you press the second LP. It’s tight but doable.

I’m confused, it says Laura’s standing strong punch is +3 on block, so what does this mean exactly? Can a 3 frame jab punish her? Can she link the standing strong punch with a jab after since her jab is a 3 frame hit and she’s +3 on block?

Wow! Is it really +3? I thought it was +2. Anyways, it means the opponent has 3 frames before any action can be taken after they block the attack. So if you’re +3, their 3f jab is essentially 6f. Say you’re +3, you and your opponent both press a button immediately, you have a 3f head start for your button to come out. A 5f normal with now beat their 3f normal.

Hopefully that makes sense. Surely someone can explain or expound better than I can.
