Laura Q&A Thread: Lightning Round

Here’s what I think and what I do :

  • For spacing, VS is god-like but pay attention against Gief (he can 360 you on active frames).
  • For defence, when’s too much pressure, I also use VS.
  • To put pressure, VS all the time to cancel normal (after CC 5HP for instance).
  • Dash when playing mid-range (dash into command throw is effective in some cases, but don’t abuse it).

“v trigger, dash, ex command grab” works great in some situations. do not underestimate that ex cgrab, you take the risk and it pays off. still a little weak imho. capcom should add armor to it.

vskill is also one of the sickest. might be the biggest tool in laura’s arsenal. in addition to what NightoY said, you can v-skill on reaction under cross-up attempts to shut those stupid vortex attempts off.

Does Laura not get hit on the first few frames of her EX elbow thing like Mika does or am I just mistiming my meaties?

Ex elbow just has : Frames 3-17 one point of armor
It does not have anything else. For instance, I got hit or grab during the firsts 3 frames.

So both Lauras cr.mk and cr.hp are 7f. I don’t have a controller and its burning me so I can’t test but which is a longer poke?

I think cr.MK has longer range on its first active frame, but cr.HP has longer range on every other.

So…what exactly are the active frames on her fireball before it sizzles out? Seems to stop working before it disappears.

So would cr.hp be better for whiff punishing?

If you get hits once its out it loses its hit box but you still see it.

The FB is active between 40 to 100 frames depending on how much you charge it (40,80,100). Ex FB has 170 active frames.
Everyframe hit. But I saw that if you get hit before the FB hit the opponent, it will disappear. (for example you tried to poke through the FB and you get counter hit)

Depends :
The cr.mk has the same startup that the cr.hp and only hit 1 frame earlier but it has a shorter recovery if you whiff the punish.
On the other hand cr.hk has a longer recovery (4 more frames) and a bigger hurtbox but does more damages.

Is there ANY way to do mixup type gameplay/resets against mashers? Basically everyone online right now mashing jab or DP? I can’t get anything started because the characters I see most in the game can just mash out of everything. Chun, Cammy, Karin Ryu, etc all just jab out of everything. I dash in, jabs start flying. I jump in and attempt a mixup, jabs being mashed as soon as they come out of blockstun. I don’t have this issue when I play as Rashid or Ryu…maybe I’m playing her wrong? Should I just be playing regular footsies and neutral game with her?

if they’re mashing then you can usually punish with stHP after they blocked you out of jab range
depending on the matchup I guess
it’s kinda hard for me to explain how I play since it’s just muscle memory
use your projectile to bait out the jump or fireballs
it’s a good pressure tool
use the different projectile speeds to your advantage
you can set up free jump ins
then again im just mid silver

Just use frame traps.

s.lk > s.lk
s.lk > s.mp
s.mp > c.mp
c.mp > c.mp

Anyone mashing jab while in block stun are going to eat a CH from those strings.

Which dash is faster
Forward dash or v skill dash
Back dash or v-skill back dash

Her forward and back dashes are definitely faster than her v-skill dashes.

Forward : 17 / 22(vs)
Backward : 21 / 27(vs)

Sidenote: V-Skill Backdash is special cancellable on the 15th frame.

Cool almost as fast as Ken’s. So u think dash in attack will be viable sometimes if we aren’t predictable.

I feel like it could be if they aren’t mashers. Remember all anyone has to do is mash jab and you will be knocked out of it and set up for some nasty stuff. Hell considering how people are playing this game they can mash ANY button and it will beat you out. From my experience you just gotta be unpredictable. Unlike Ken’s run which is cancelable with a normal, Laura has to go through her entire motion before throwing out a button.

This. If youre facing mashers its extremely difficult since she can be hit out of damn near everything. How long is the delay after she finishes her dash? Its like she sits there for a second beforw you can do anything and that seems to screw her up.
