Honestly if they nerfed the top Laura wouldn’t need buffs. Problem is they won’t heavy nerf them without giving them something new. So Laura will need those buffs.

For Shotos its a situation of just being smarter. If you beat any shoto player that’s on even grounds with you 100% outplayed them and are smarter. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Ok yall can you please advise me against Alex. Hes safe on everything and Laura has absolutely no reach even when hes at -4 with the elbow. Seems like the higher ups are maining him in droves and i can see why. This is getting rage enducing, these platinum Alexs are driving me insane.

It sucks that you can’t punish elbow, I totally feel that but I think this is 5-5. It’s all about waiting for that knockdown. Bait with fireballs, never jump (aa jab) and don’t go in until you’ve conditioned them to think that you won’t go in lol. Alex plays similarly to Laura. The difference being that he has better ranged normals but no projectile so your best bet is to lay a trap with strategically placed claps and rape the bejesus out of him on wake up because he has no 3 framer and no reversal. He will dominate from mid range so you just have to find your opportunity to get in close where you’re in control.

I agree with the post above. Claps are surprisingly a good tool in this MU as they stop all his long pokes as well as the regular slash elbows, effectively neutralising his mid range game. Do them from far enough (= prefer heavy claps) so that he can’t hit you with flash chops and you can punish him if he does them. When you’re inside the range of your medium pokes you can press pretty much everything and beat whatever he does, but don’t do anything if you’re farther than that.
Other notes:

  • your cr. HP is a good normal to beat or whiff punish his cr. MP
  • crouch block as much as possible to make his f+HP whiff and if you block it V-Reversal as much as you can (I think he can theoretically still power bomb you but I don’t remember ever being caught by that)

Maybe I’m wrong on this but Thunder claps can’t get punished from jump ins if reacted to. I’ve tried in training mode, I wait for the animation and jump and I can’t hit clean. It has to be predicted.

You can react to it with normals that hit low and have range lol.

So the fireball isn’t as bad as I thought if done from a range where you can’t get swept. Also after the fireball the second you recovery and do her HP elbow it beats out anything cleanly.

If someone would like to test just to confirm that I don’t have bad reactions lol.

Yeah, I manage to often follow with a H Bolt when someone tries to jump over my clap. The jump-in works if I’m throwing a second fireball in a row and they’re jumping preemptively over it.
Though the startup is still pretty bad so they have a lot of room for error.

Laura definitely shuts down Canmy’s dive kick with HP bolt charge. Because you know it is coming so it is easy to react to. She has to beat you the old fashion way which is hard lol

Yeah, I think with HP Bolt you have to basically predict it. I have a lot more success with St. MP. I’ve even swatted it with jab, but that was luck and desperation lol.

Nah not me. I’ve only traded with ex. It will be it clean 80% of the time. I’Lloyd post some matches if you guys are interested.
