I know Laura is about mid-tier in terms of throw range (~0.85 since they haven’t changed that from beta4), and LK command grab goes well past her natural throw range from my testing. MK command grab is about even with her regular throw, and HK command grab you practically have to be up in their face to land it, so be careful with it. Use LK a lot and it’ll serve you well.
Soo online after every blocked lp charge I’m getting thrown non stop… is my only option here to spam throw as well?
I believe they’re mostly trying to tech you. Throw or command throw isn’t the worst thing you could do.
You’re minus on the blocked LP Elbow. Command throw will get you thrown if that’s what they go for. If they block it and you think they are going to press throw then best bet is to late tech it or backdash. But backdash they might just press a button and counter hit you.
Basically if they block your LP Elbow then tough luck you’ve lost your window for pressure. Time to adjust accordingly until you can get it back. Or you know, just keep pressing buttons and hope this time is the time they decide to hit their slowest attack in response. Definitely this time.
Oh everyone said that already. That’ll teach me not to scroll up first.
http://www.twitch.tv/vicioushellsing hey guys, im going to be streaming me learning Laura tonight for about 5-6 hours. Id love if some people came and hung out in chat, other beginners or even someone who might be able to point me in the right direction on what I should be doing. I am pretty awful but I want to learn the basics of each character. if you are interested in helping or just laughing as I flail around.
Ugh I need some help with my punishes. Especially Cammy is making me salty right now. Yesterday I was playing a Cammy who would blow me up with Front Kick after a blocked sweep. I am not even sure how that is possible, that thing is like -12 on block. On top of that, even after a blocked Front Kick it seems that the recovery is so fast and she is so far away from me I can probably only punish with MP Elbow.
In that regard, I had some trouble with blocked MK Tatsus by Ken. Back in the day one could crouch and just hit him out of that move but now it hits crouchers as well. At times I could punish with MP,MP Elbow but I couldn’t always make it work and for some reason I got better results with cr.MK,LP Elbow. Any ideas?
Lastly, Bison stomps and Vegas Dives, is there some way to hit them out of it? I feel like they spend so much time in the air but for some reason, I don’t know, it is hard to HP Elbow them. Does someone have a strategy here, maybe air to air?
How do you guys approach crossups? The shotos are giving my trouble here. Maybe I should just VSkill under them?
I didn’t get the problem with cammy.
Mk tatsu is -9. You can punish with pretty much anything.
For bison’s stomp I use st mp. For devil’s reverse, hp elbow. For vega’s dive, jump back hp.
Against crossup just dash under with vskill. You can also jump mp
I am starting to think I have some sort of lag problem. The Cammy player hit cr.HK, I blocked and wanted to punish with cr.MK (into L Elbow), then I ate a front kick. I had also trouble to punish a blocked front kick simply because she lands some distance from me and I couldn’t tag her with something like f+HP so maybe M Elbow.
As with Ken, I did not get it though. I set the dummy to j.MK,cr.MK,MKTatsu and I had trouble to consistently punish that blocked Tatsu, even when mashing out. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.
Taking a close look here, training mode seems to be laggy, right now installing new drivers and looking into v-sync settings. So I guess it wasn’t just my bad punishes.
What can Laura do against close jump ins?
After multiple attempts of AA with st.mp and getting blown up,
I thought of 4 possible options:
Either vskill dash under
Dash under
Jump back jap
Or AA with qcf.HP (if reactions are quick enough)
I just picked her up and I didnt have the practice time to attempt these.
Any other options that I haven’t covered?

well if you have godlike reactions you can dash/vskilldash forward asap, standing jab often trades as a picnic button as well. If you think you are stuck, you can ex shoulder to get out of the situation altogether, it absorbs the crossup and gets far enough to be safe as of now
Does this woman have anti air buttons and if so, what are they?
Her anti airs are very sensitive to the position of the jump-in. For far jump-ins st.MP is really good, however it moves you forward so on close jump-ins/crossups it misses quite a bit. For those if you’re quick enough you can HP Bolt to try and grab them out the air or VSkill forward to reset to neutral.
I found that guide really useful, I’m still terrible with her though.
What would you guys say is her best instant air normal for close anti airs. I find I end up just blocking the same string into crossup a lot currently and need to fix that.
Jump MP is great for reacting to jump ins.
I had a question. I’m new to SF at a tournament level. Mostly an MK player. But I was wondering if you do f.HP, HP can you hit confirm into HP Bolt Charge on hit or LP Bolt Charge on block to make it safe? I know this kind of thing would work in MK, but I’m not 100% used to the frame-data quirks of SF yet. Like, would that be a true blockstring, or could somebody DP through it?
f.HP > HP is only special cancel-able on hit. On block you can’t special cancel it. f.HP is only -2 on block but f.HP > HP is -8. Very punishable. You should never do f.HP > HP unless you know it’s going to hit.
Ok, cool. That’s a new concept to me. Gonna have to test it more. MK doesn’t have moves that are only cancellable on hit. Not that I’ve seen at least. So basically hit confirm f.HP into another HP, if the window is reactable. Gonna have to lab some more. Just picked her up yesterday.
Thanks!
