I actually think the rock nerf is being way overstated, it’s still an amazing assist that has good coverage and good chip. There just happens to be a lot of other good characters now too… I’m more worried about some of his other nerfs… j.hp and photon array look pretty gimpy now. But I think part of the limited look is simply because people are still trying to MvC2 him and he looks really different ( kinda like how Wong’s storm looked off point at CES since he was trying to play her like mvc2 storm ) , there has to be something there we just aren’t getting.

Would there actually be instances of using the missile assist over rocks? I keep trying to brainstorm ideas for situations where this would be beneficial, but they just come out so damn slow and Doom stands there for like 5 years shooting the missiles.
Even though the rocks are “nerfed”, Doom also doesn’t stay on the screen for fucking ever like in MvC2. That is always a big plus.
If the missiles hit overhead (which they don’t) it would be a brilliant assist. If you ask me, it’s kind of shitty right now. And rocks are still good for people like Iron Man (according to Nick who I would trust with any info on these characters)

his beam assist is apparently blistering fast on startup and cannot be interrupted (?)

Missiles control vertical space the way rocks control horizontal space. I suspect that they’d work as ghetto aa if fired off early enough.
They’re also better vs deadool style keepaway, I suspect… As well as ignoring aegis/gong.
If his beam knocks people back it can be a good assist for keepaway teams.

As for assists… I still think rocks is his best assist, missile seems a little meh because of how slow it is… and how little use you have for an AA that only hits directly above you… but maybe you could build a team to make it work. It depends on how good the missiles are at hitting a target on the descent and how much chip they do.
how is doom’s playstyle in mvc3?
I’m confused here. I though the missiles were fired directly up then they came down on the other side. Please don’t tell me they go straight up and that’s it.

I don’t know, the way you guys were talking about it only controlling vertical space and it only hits directly above got me a little confused that’s all. Though I think they will have good uses. If Doom assist launches missiles or if Doom on point does, once they are out the opponent will be forced to block. They can’t do anything useful until they have successfully come down right?
Right, but they don’t track over long distances, so if the opponent dashes forward or backward long enough once the missiles are fired, they won’t track as well as they are supposed to.
