The infantry units over at 25 ID(L) do jack shit all day - mow grass, clean weapons all day, do PT 2-3 times a day, details every other day… as long as you are working your MOS, I wouldn’t trip too hard. They could be assholes and put you in a mailroom.

Well in terms of everyday worklife, i don’t know what’s going to happen. But once the 17th(this is when Block Leave ends. I might be able to get in on it in the next couple of days) of this month comes up, it’s straight TRAINING for the Sandbox nonstop. Yeah I don’t want to be stuck doing typing and paperwork(even though this was how i wanted it when first signing up to the Army. Fuck all that desk stuff, I want to be out on the MOVE).
I know that most of you heard about the semi-great 4 day weekend that I had. But I never included the darkside of going back to work like I inteneded to. I fucked up as a supervisor. If this mistake has taught me anything, it’s to think things thorough and be sure of the decesions that you make. My place of operations runs 24hrs. We have 7 people for about 2-3 per shift depending on the circumstances. I let 2 of them take leave plus I’ll be leaving for TDY (temp. duty) back in the sates. Not only that, but the head honcho has to leave for TDY also. So now we are under 50% manning. That means we can’t move people around to support other shifts if someone has an appointment. There will also be no more comp days for the time being for people that work the weekends. This whole thing happend because I got confused about the discussion the my super and I had before he went on leave last month. Instead of calling him and thinking that I could handle everything, I didn’t and now shit is fucked up for the month of July. There is a lot going on, people are needed to do upcoming non-bullshit details and we can’t provide bodies.
Not only that, but we have TDY’s to go to thailand and we can’t send anyone because either we need everyone, or somebody is going to have to work 12’s. He is so pissed with me right now and I don’t blame him. I’ll be going to a 7 levle class this July 18th for about 2 weeks and then on leave for 2 weeks and then come back. I offered to give up my leave to make things right. This also means that I would be giving up a free ticket back to the states, but he said no, take it and that we’ll discuss everything when everyone gets back. So for the time being, I have to cross my T’s and dot my j’s (waynes world joke) until I leave. DAMMIT!!! How could I have been so dumb?

It’s pretty tough to switch branches, man. No service really wants to give up one of their own to another service… this might be a long shot, but why don’t you go talk to an Army recruiter?
I called one Ducky, and he gave me a number to a man I should talk to... I haven't called him yet, for fear of rejection. I really, sincerely thought that volunteering for infantry would cross me over lickity-split. But WTF do I know? I called some recruiters, but they never called me back... Now imagine that! I think ima just try to call a different station; but for now, I'm on leave, so maybe in about 10 days I'll give them a call! :xeye:Infantry sure is a tough trail… but if that’s what you wanna do, go for it.
I just can’t wait to get the fuck out of the service already. I hate turning down $65,000 - $95,000 a year jobs… :sad:
I don’t know if the army has this clause in their contract. But in the AF, if you have a better job and can prove to them that you’ll be making more in the long run ($100K) they’ll let you out in a few months. Reason being is that they know they don’t pay you enough as it is and if you get bitter about missing out on more money, you could jeapordize the mission. Which I’m still not quite sure what that is, but whatever. :lol:
