Last Blade 2 Character Guides/Advanced System thread

Hey sorry for the crazy late reply, but I figured I’d note anyway that there was some info (I think mostly character intro guides) on the ggpo.net forums. They’re currently unavailable though so I can’t provide you with any links (you could probably use google’s cache but by the time anyone reads this they it’ll probably be back up anyway).

This will always be my favorite LB2 vid, pretty much made me get the game and start playing it.

Aaaaaannnd bump. With a PS4/PSTV release soon, hopefully with good online, time to start learning this. I loved LB1 in the arcades although I was never advanced at it. Let’s gooooooo.

If anyone wants to play and learn on Fightcade, I hang out there.

I just started learning the game and watching old matches, so I’d love to get some real practice.

I’ve fixed their wiki, anyway I need help and re check it

I’ve been going through the srk wiki for it and plan on fixing/updating stuff.

I hang out on fightcade Friday/Saturday nights (and other times randomly) if anyone wants some games.

i havent played this in long time but I need to learned the techniue that let player dash under their opponent and auto correct them selfs.

I want to play this more. Need a break from 3rd strike online salt. The frame data of that game run through rollback netcode makes me want to kill myself sometimes.
Anyway I am playing Kojiroh, Mukuro and Kaede. Does anyone know if there is a training modd plugin on mame or something? I have it on wii but my wii remotes are messed up or something.
Also, if anyone wants games or maybe help out a noob just hit me up!

Iboki-
open ggpofba in the fightcade folder. Go to Game, Set Dipswitches, and change MVS system to AES system. Now when the game loads you will have a training mode option. It’s pretty basic but helps with combos.

I did not know you could do that. thanks! i hope it doesn’t break button binding.

It doesn’t but if you don’t have the correct bios it will make the game plain not work

Yeah it worked fine. Except there are no dummy settings so that kinda stinks. Somebody was showing me how to dash under and turn attack. dash then tap an up direction then attack yes? I couldnt get it down at all.

There’s dummy settings. Hit whatever key you have set to select For neo ego in the emulator

Awesome thanks

I’m having trouble wrapping my head around the combo system of the game. I’ve really only played capcom games before (3s, sf4, st, vsav) so the four buttons in snk games are a bit weird to me. 6 buttons- each tied to a normal, sometimes a cmd normal, and specials of various strengths makes sense to me and so combos are pretty straightforward.the motions are also straightforward and easy to buffer/2 in 1 compared to these out there snk inputs lol. here different specials are tied to each button, and i cant really tell what should combo with what. though if its like the older kofs you link a few normals into cmd normal into special yes? it would probably help a lot to see the frame data but that doesnt seem to be anywhere online

It doesn’t exactly work like that. In speed/ex you can chain normals into things like forward B or down-forward or forward C. Pretty much all of the command normals in the game aren’t cancelable. Akari, Amani, and moriya’s back B and moriya’s down-forward A are exceptions. Sweeps are for some characters but it’s not that useful for most (Moriya is an exception with teleport shenanigans) except for wiffing specials for meter/safety if the sweep is blocked.

Example with speed Kaede: A, A, B is your basic chain. From there you can end with any special move (minus qcb + B, to slow to combo) B+C overhead, forward B, or down-forward C for his sweep. For Kaede if you’re not close when you start your chain end with forward + B since his specials might wiff. In the corner you chain to his B+C overhead then finish with his dp + A/B if you’re close enough.

Power mode is about link combos and super cancels. Also forward + C is cancelable for everyone in power mode. Links in this game are basically the same as sf4/5; i.e link a few normals then do a special/super. Using Kaede again for example try back + A, back + A, A then cancel to dp + B x2. Or if you have meter try back + A x2, forward + C then cancel to qcb, forward + A+B or qcf x2 + A+B (hold for a second to make sure it hits) The link between back + A and forward + C is pretty tight so practice. His qcb + A/B is his super cancel so you do standing/crouching B or point blank standing A xx qcb + A, qcf x2 A+B at the 2nd hit of qcb A. Qcb B won’t combo since it’s slow but it you get a ground to ground parry you can do qcb B, qcb, forward + A+B at the 2nd hit and juggle with the super.

Ex mode you get chain combos + speed combo specials + super cancels/Sdms at the cost of taking more damage. Also some moves work different in speed/Ex. Kaede’s qcfx2 +A+B super is a lot slower and won’t combo in a super cancel for example. But with say Amano his f,b,f +B does more damage than other modes so you can do jump in C, back + A, A, down + A, down + B, forward, down-back, forward + B, hcb x2 + A+B for a lot of damage.

Easier example would be with Ex Moriya. A, A, B xx qcf + A xx forward, hcf + A+B for the super.

There’s a lot more and it varies per character. I can answer pretty much any question you might have so ask away. Or just play me on fightcade and I can show you whatever.

For frame data I had it at one point a few years ago but God only knows where it is now. I may use some emulator tools and do it myself but that’s a hell of a project. Especially since some moves change depending on power/speed/ex

help me get reacquainted ed with this

What do you want to know?

Thanks very much for all the pointers dracula. I’m juggling a bunch of games right now because I’m exploring the poverty museum or whatever people call it, as i’m still a noob/scrub. I do want to focus on lb2 though because the fundamental gameplay appeals to me a lot. Let me know if I can help with the frame data. Maybe I’m just thinking too hard or too aloof but it’s kind of difficult to understand snk games and learning fd would go a long way.

Well I’m getting a copy of the gamest mook for this game and hopefully it has frame data. If not check back in a few months and I might have it done ha.
