I did and it didn’t appear that you hit it anywhere approaching 50%. That said, you DID hit it and color me surprised. What kind of controller are you using? It’s horridly difficult to consistently execute that combo on my gamepad. If the link was all that easy people would use it. Over 2.5 years of play I’ve had that combo properly executed against me less than 15 times, and I played quite a lot over that time period.
I think you should go back and watch how often you blow it and get punished. Each time you miss the :l::snka::snkc: link and cancel into :dp::snkb: you’re going to eat a combo. It can win you a few rounds, but will cost you many more matches if you’re not consistent with the link. That’s what makes using it so difficult. If you’re able to use it consistently anytime soon I’ll be very impressed, and will give you my personal “kick ass!” seal of approval.
Do you have experience playing 3S? Most people who seem to have an early grasp on repel mechanics played 3S quite a bit. You’re better than most new players with repel.
Ahhhh… The fact that you’re using a quality stick probably makes his link a bit easier to execute. I have and HRAP3 but transitioning to it from a gamepad is pretty difficult.
The player Cynn appears to be able to do it as well. Though I only watched a few of his games he was mostly using Ex Kagami and didn’t attempt it at all.
But in the few matches I saw him use P.Kagami he was at least 50/50 with the link from what I saw. And like I said before I’m sure there’s more.
Also Mushishi are you going to start playing again?, because we could surely use more skilled North American players.
Oh and for Zants super cancel do you have to cancel like right away or toward the end of the move? I haven’t .been able to do the cancel properly, though I do sometimes have trouble with those super motions in this game,
I was able to do pretty consistant online vs God 2.0 so I dont know what all the impossible doing it online talk is all about. It just requires some practice getting the timing down for it. I have replays on 2DF if you guys want to see me do it online.
Once again, I never said it was “impossible” to execute online. I said it was exceedingly difficult to execute consistently during online matches. I stand by that. It’s wholly possible that under ideal conditions (low ping + low latency, quality stick, fast computer, no spyware, etc.) that consistent execution is easier than it might otherwise be. One thing I’m quite sure of is that its consistent execution is VERY difficult with my particular setup. Also, the risk/reward component demands that you be able to execute his links at least 50/50 to be of any use, and I’ve yet to see anyone other than kyokuji execute with that level of consistency.
EDIT: I was able to locate 2 replays between NocturnalSRK (guessing this is you) and God 2.0. Out of 13 matches you played kagami once, and executed the combo 3 times. It’s difficult to tell how many times you attempted it but it’s likely you were successful on the majority of your attempts. Although you were able to consistently execute the link combo in that game it’s not convincing proof you can consistenly execute the combo in a general sense. What kind of controller do you use? When I’ve practiced using a stick it seemed easier, but transitioning from a gamepad is difficult. How often can you execute the combo properly offline? Do you practice that particular combo?

At this point in time I don’t have any plans to play LB2 with any seriousness again. I tried playing a few sets recently, and I was disappointed at how laggy it felt. Of course, this is affected by the fact that the majority of the better players today are concentrated in Chile, Korea, and Japan. I even have occasional problems getting lag free games with people on US West. To make a long story short… probably not. Maybe if the lag/jitter issues improve.
I dont really play the game much besides practice mode and I tend to just practice in training mode doing links. I can’t really tell you how many times offline I’ve done the link since I dont really play the game with anyone. I think the only time I did play someone offline was at EVO 07 and I was doing the link 90% of the time when I used him mostly. They had LB2 on a custom cab setup with American stick parts, so competition stick and concave buttons. As for what I use when I play, I just use my moded tekken 5 stick with sanwa parts. I use it for both online and offline whenever I get a chance to play.
I guess can I also mention that God 2.0 is Euro but the connection was pretty good for being so far apart. I do unerstand about the lag making the link harder especially playing South American peps. If the lag is bad to where I know the link would be hard then I wouldn’t use Kagami much. I tend to use everyone in LB2 to some degree but mostly stick with Power when I use everyone. I’m always down to play just about any game and I always liked the LB2 engine anyways.
I tend to think Kagami’s links are easier to execute using a good stick. So, I’m not surprised to hear you’re using a stick. If it wasn’t so difficult to transition to a stick I’d probably use my HRAP3. Anway, it’s still quite difficult to execute it consistently stick or not.
It’s funny I get comments from people for being able to do links and such but I still lose most of the matches I play. Check my replays on 2df if you want just be warned that I try to do a lot of stupid things and kinda impractical combos. Maybe I should try to play more seriously instead of messing around al the time. Though I don’t have as much fun so w/e
Don’t ask me why but i can hit some 1 framers better than easy one’s like Back A,B wih Lee. I have yet to hit Back A , B with P. Hibiki
That’s my point exactly. Some link combos are fairly difficult. However, the real difficulty lies in executing them consistently during a match. It’s quite easy to land a jaw dropping combo but still lose. Some link combos are more risky than others, and I’d put Kagami’s up towards the top in the risk column. To be honest I’m a bit of a wimp when it comes to links. I don’t have the patience to REALLY get the timing for power links down. However, at high levels of play the advantage power has over speed becomes more apparent.
Interesting. This might put a new spin on the choice of whether or not to play “once in a while”. Playing on 2df is more painful than anything most nights. It’s probably decent for people on US West though.
