Last Blade 2 Character Guides/Advanced System thread

 1. After a standard b+A, A, B the guy can air jump before a d,d+A/B hits?

 2. I didn’t say that it was something to rely on. It was something to compare with. From all I’ve seen, Kojiroh needs SPEED in order to deal damage. If there is something that makes her shine in POWER mode then by all means I’d like to know.

 3. That’s fine with me. As soon as my internet is back up, I’ll play so I can see what’s so great about POWER Kojiroh that SPEED cannot make up for.

Hello!

I am a big Last Blade fan. I like 1 & 2 alot!

LB2 is one of my favorite games on the Dreamcast.

Moriya is my favorite character in the game.

What character(s) in the game can really give moriya a run for his money?
Is it Kaede? Setsuna?Kagami?Muruko(spelling?)?

Is there a tier chart for the LB2 characters anywhere on SHORYUKEN.COM!!!
If so…would anyone happen to know where I can find it?

I like Hibiki as well!!!

PEACE!!!

That is correct.

Command throw mix-ups mainly, and poking. None of those things are anywhere near as effective in speed.

LOL

I think you should have links to the LB2 strategy and tier threads in your sig or something. That must be like the 5th time someone has asked that in this thread.

Hmm, well I’ll be damned if that works. Must require timing or something otherwise I’m sure everyone would be doing it or somethin. Command throw mix-ups? Please tell.

i understand what kyokuji means by a much better poker and the command throw mix-ups, being much more effective on power, and i have always thought speed kojiroh felt a little. . . lacking ? but at the same time her speed combos are really easy and reliable, although sumwhat limited.

lol didnt really make an argument there just stating what im getting at.

oh yeah and power okina is getting more and more fun =)

who is truly better between Moriya and Zantetsu?

Does Moriya have an advantage over Zantetsu? If so…does anyone know what it is?

Does Zantetsu have an advantage over Moriya? If so…does anyone know what it is?

These are my 2 favorite characters in LB2( Hibiki would probably be third)

what mode should I used if I where to play one versus the other?

Power Moriya-vs-Power Zantetsu
Power Moriya-vs-Speed Zantetsu
Speed Moriya-vs-Speed Zantetsu
Speed Moriya-vs-Power Zantetsu

What happens?!?!? Who wins?!?!?

PEACE!!!

I was rolling on wakeup and I got hit with Setsuna’s qcb+B, but it crossed me up. It was pretty sweet, is there a way to set this up?

I’m leaning towards no since the guy can roll fowards or backwards or just get straight up. Unless you got cat like reflexes and positioning like mad, I don’t think it will become something like a setup.

Zantetsu for sure with his tachi kappa.

Is there anything Moriya can do to defend himself against Zantetsu?

Yes, he can block. :stuck_out_tongue:

What else?

The FAQ for Moriya at the beginning of this thread would be a good place to start. Oh, and make sure your attacks connect.

The trick to fighting Zantetsu is to stay at distance where his tachi koppa can’t cross you up. Also, never jump straight up near him. Always backwards. Basically, you have to turtle. He’ll out prioritize you in the air, and trying to pressure him puts you at risk of random tachi kappa cross-up shenanigans. I just tend to use bait and punish tactics against him. That stupid move comes out almost instantly, so even walking forward for a second is dangerous against him.

Remember, every time he hits you with it, he just got like 80% of his meter back, and you likely took around 20% damage. It’s almost ridiculous how careful you have to be. You can punish if the move is blocked, but it recovers so quickly you’d have to have seen it coming in advance.

Now you’re 100% ready Shaolin! :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously though. I think to a certain extent you have to play a smarter (e.g. Kyokuji’s gameplan), and more skilled (out combo, out poke, etc.) game. That’s why I was being an ass. IMO it’s ultimately an issue of mastery. Maybe you can get away with one or the other against some people, but skilled opponents (especially when facing a higher tier character) will probably require both. After all, your opponent is asking himself the same questions about how to defeat you.

In other words
TRICK A, B, or C != consistent pwnage against thinking human opponents

We have an IRC channel for this now its #lastblade2 on efnet. Join up!

Yeah, come on an idle with the rest of us on efnet.

One of the things I’ve noticed about LB2 is that many people (myself included) when playing a less skilled opponent will cycle through the character roster rather than sticking with a few characters. I think this has some advantages and disadvantages. Here’s some of my thoughts.

Advantages
[]When there is a significant skill gap games aren’t so retarded if the more skilled player chooses characters he’s less familiar with
[
]The winning players doesn’t have to lose when he gets bored playing a particular character
[]Players are introduced to a wider variety of strategies employed by their opponents than they might otherwise be
[
]There is less of a frustration factor when you have difficulty overcoming an opponent’s strategies with a particular character (e.g. highly skilled Zantetsu players)
Disadvantages

Less skilled players get fewer looks at individual strategies. I think this can be a substantial barrier to learning barring the ability to record and review matches.
Although the advantages outnumber the disadvantages I’m wondering if playing in arcade mode (which doesn’t allow character changes after a victory) would benefit less skilled players. We all know the LB2 community is very small. I wonder if playing in arcade more might ease the learning process a bit for newer players. What do you guys think?

well mushi uve played me before and ive played a couple people here, and im relatively new (couple months of casual play id call it), and before i played on kaillera i played on arcade mode only and a gainst a friend who sucked miserably. Arcade mode does NOTHING but get you into bad habits, thats why i have so much trouble online now. Trust me arcade mode is not the best way to get better at the game, you need to just play people slightly better then you or on your level. Because playing with better people has made me alot more knowledgable and aware about the game, but getting owned over and over does not help that much either.
