the FBI was investigating it because USADA is essentially accusing him of trafficking illegal (prescription) drugs. that said, they didn’t find anything.
Lance Armstrong is a fraud. As a man who became a symbol for so many cancer survivors, he could have been a great role model. Instead, he got outed by so many people around him, it comes to a point where you really begin to question his story. This guy finished 97th overall in his first Tour de France after droping out, gets diagnosed with cancer three years later and three years after that comes back to win the Tour de France seven times in a row!
The Tour de France covers 2,200 miles (3500km) over a span of three weeks. On average that’s 116 miles (184km) a day of cycling! If you’re going to tell me this guy pulled this off naturally, than by all means be my guest. But when those closest to you come out against you and you have more than questionable test results, I think these questions about doping become very legitimate.
If people are looking for a smoking gun here, it’s not going to happen. However, after years and years of accusations of doping(which might have played a role in him developing testicular cancer to being with), I think it’s fair to say that Lance Armstrong will be relegated to the back dusty pages of cycling history.

Because these guys have a lot to gain from coming clean and saying yeah we doped, and so did Lance. I guess Floyd Landis is full of shit and isn’t to be believed, or all the other guys that were lined up to testify against him with nothing to gain at this point. Face it, the Tour de France is a dirty farce, and in this case the golden child will go down as one of the most dirtiest competitors in the history of the Tour de France.

Cycling is the second most dirty sport in the world next to boxing, the difference being at least people cared about boxing at one time. If cycling was eliminated tomorrow outside of triathlon events, no one would give an honest shit. 90% of people probably couldn’t tell you how many stages are in the Tour de France. The fact that it took a doping cancer survivor dominating to make the sport visible just shows the sport itself is a fraud.
part of this though is the very strong anti-doping atmosphere in serious fan circles, cycling gets way more scrutiny than a lot of sports in my opinion.
there’s no question of course that most of the riders were doping. maybe some of the domestiques didn’t bother or did it very lightly, but the competitors? it was an environment and culture and everyone accepted it. everyone!
notice lance is very careful to not say “i’ve never taken PEDs” but rather that he followed the rules and passed all the tests. I take that 'followed all the rules and raced fair" as kind of a way to say even if i did dope, everyone was doping, so i don’t deserve any special witch hunting behind this nonsense.
that article assumes that USADA’s procedures are fair. however, recent news has shown that the governing bodies of our sports (eg USADA, NCAA, NFL, NBA) are corrupt power hoarders and their “procedures” are broken as fuck. refusing to turn over evidence, appeals that will be heard by the same people that decided you were guilty in the first place, etc…
i am an avid cyclist and a big fan of the sport.
my take on this is, yes, LA most likely did doped during his reign but so did everybody else.
even Eddy Merckxx, which i see as the greatest cyclist ever probably doped during his time.
