Lack of EVO t-shirts

Lets just say they did have a laptop with a list, its not like everyone has to go in at once… have a laptop for signing in and a seperate one in the corner for shirts this way when you want your shirt you just go and log it out shit ill run that table next year.

I ran a SF4 morning pool and I didn’t get a regular shirt or badge.

I got into the hall at 9:10 and saw the mass mob of people clawing for shirts and badges. I figured Evo staff had plenty so I didn’t bother right then and there to get them. I went to check on my pool, half of the players were present.

I finished my pool shortly before 3PM and went to check on shirts and saw that they were all gone. I wasn’t upset; I didn’t particularly like this years design for the regular shirt and I had some memorabilia to keep by having a judge shirt.

I knew the shortage of shirts would piss some people off, one setback of a great event this year.

This is a good solution. I think it can be improved by having at least 4 volunteers run shirt/badge detail at the beginning of the event. They would have a roster of registered players split by last name and people would have to check in with ID. Of course the hardest part is finding trustworthy people that would volunteer and their time working the station wouldn’t conflict with their schedule.

I think realistically, there should be about an hour at the beginning just for registration, instead of having everything try to Register and get to their pools at the same time. This actually gives the staff enough time to focus on registering people (and making sure they are actually signed up) without scrambling to find judges, hand out pools, and deal with all the tournament start up problems.

I think there was a worry this year about not being able to get through all the SFIV pools, but I think we saw that with the proper judges (not every pool went as smooth, sadly) we were able to finish with plenty of time on hand. My SFIV night pool finished at 9:30, so I cranked that shit out, which would have meant we could have shifted the games back an hour or so and still finished, and had a dedicated registration time.

If EVO 2k10 is as big or bigger than 2k9 then a dedicated bunch need to volunteer (myself) to deal with this situation be it early check in, dedicated booth, etc. When the time comes those interested will get together and contact those in charge.

this

yea yea

Shirt’s in the mail dude. I showed it to my brother before going to the post office and he called me dumb. Anyway you should have it in three or four days.

A shirtless EVO goer will be very happy. I appreciate this. I hope to see and work with you at next years EVO.

I love how every tournament, no matter how big or small, always makes the idiots come out complaining about the judges.

Because the ones that complain always get the one judge that does not know what the hell he is doing.

Couldn’t this be solved by having everyone who registered having a badge with their name on it, and then at any point during evo you go the the center tables, and if you show your badge to the people running shit they use a hole punch, punch a hole out of your badge, and give you a shirt? That seems simple as hell to me, and everyone gets a shirt that paid for one.

hole punch idea is good but the problem may lie in getting those badges out to everyone. mailing maybe costly and printing could result in forgery although it may be the best way to go.

This is not a difficult problem to solve. I’m curious how much interest from actual EVO staff there is.

Alright so i tried to mail my Evo2k9 shirt to heyyy612 but it came back return-to-sender and i haven’t been able to reach him since. I don’t think he’s logged on SRK since early September.

I’m tired of having this thing on my desk so i’ve decided to hold a mini-contest to give it away. Just come up with a clever title for this screenshot and post it as a comment under it. Then i’ll pick the best one on Monday and that person will get +1 shirt.

“Happy Birthday, Sari!”

I already won, hands down.

I’m too lazy to register so I’ll just post my somewhat obscure entry here without a need to win :
“Guilty as charged
But damn it, it ain’t right!”

“Despite what this screenshot suggests, Valle vs Wolfe is an incredibly boring match to watch.”

Next year there will be a cutoff also, on when you can register and receive a shirt. People who register in the last few weeks will not be elgible for a shirt as the order has to go to the printer weeks in advance.

However many registrations you get, i think it’s a good idea to order exactly +273 shirts and sell them at Evo for a small profit, limit 2 per person. That way people who didn’t make the registration cutoff or people who showed up to Evo just to watch will have an alternative option to shanking me to steal my shirt and leave me out in the boiling rain.

Who won your sweet shirt Maj?

BTW, sick Ryu combo vid on your site. Your brain is dope.
