Lack of EVO t-shirts

yes.

Impressive.

Yeah, I was given '07 EVO DVDs to make up for the lack of shirts / badges. One hour later, they gave out DVDs to anyone who stood in line.

Yes, and I got the word from the Staff that they didn’t want people profitting off the Evo shirts, especially not those who grabbed more than 1 while others didn’t get any.

a combination of stolen shirts + assholes not signing up for the tourney and taking one is why you guys didn’t get shirts.

and to the poster who said they’d wait in line for 2-3 hours to get his, that’s just simply not possible with the way evo was set-up. there were like 800 people at the doors @ 9 with 500 of them having to play sf4 right then and there and another 240 having to play 3s. Taking names for the shirts and badges would’ve slowed everything down by like 3 hours.

I don’t really see a way to fix the problem with so many people entering tournies now. maybe ship out the shirts next year and add a $5 price tag to registration?

How about a printable ticket you can flash when your ready to check in and get your swag? no ticket, no shirt.

The way it worked last year was great. You checked in, they looked up your name in the list, gave you your badge and when you got your shirt, they marked your badge so you couldn’t get a second one.
But I completely understand why the huge difference in attendance made that system very hard to do this year.

they could probably ship you your badge too since it would be smaller and they wouldn’t have to worry about giving you the wrong size, lol. flash your badge at the event, they mark, it and you get your tee.

anything printed from the internet can easily be re-printed/duplicated.

@ valaris: yeah thats the ideal system but having 1400+ people registered currently makes that system a nightmare, lol. Maybe set it up so peeps can pick up their tees the day before?

mailing out 1400 letters can get a little expensive and time consuming though.

heyyy612, I hear ya and feel for ya man. Guys whose first tournament wasn’t in the morning…no luck with the shirts and badges. All was gone by the end of the early session.
I did get mine but was sad to hear of so many who didn’t have the chance.
Was it difficult to monitor this?..well yes, it got crazy. Will it be better in the coming evo’s? Well yes. I’m sure they learned a few things at this largest Evo held in years passed.
I’m with you. We pay our dues and should get the full experience, items, and such.
I am forgiving of Evo staff though… It was overwhelming.

lesson learned, little more honesty and organization.

If they’re checking names everyone that had to play then and there could have and just check in and get the shirt when they had a chance because they wouldn’t have to worry about people grabbing 5 shirts and there not being enough :stuck_out_tongue:

I can barely understand your post and I re-read it like 5 times. Did you even read my quote? What I think your “suggesting” would have held up the tournament by about 2-3 hours.

what I was saying is people can go play and just check in when they want to pick up the shirt and badge. People that need to play go play and people not playing can go pick up thier shirt via a check in type. This would equal same thing evo was like this year and no 2-3 hour hold up.

^in theory that sounds great but it would make brackets run slower (ie making the tourney take longer) with people having other distractions like not being in their pool when they’re supposed to cause they’re waiting in line to get their shirt. besides, people are “supposed” to have their evo badges on while they play and you get your badge and tee at the same time so…

there is always going to be distractions so we can just get over that. kyriptic’s idea is like mine and it is the best way to ensure people get a shirt. your just knit picking xcfrisco. an alternative is needed for next year if evo2k10 is gonna be as big as 2k9.

they gave out dvds the last day of evo when everything was over pretty dope

Were you there? Some idiots were never at their pool anyway. It was kind of annoying I bet that had to be really frustrating for the judges.

<---------------yeah it was really frustrating for the judges

some of the judges could have been better prepared. two pools down from mine had a judge that never worked a bracket before. he couldnt even decide on a dispute of someone hitting the start button.
