Labwork: Tests, results, discoveries

I would say different scenarios for different things, all things should be tried and found where they help us. Good theory NAg. I would like to hear more as it seems unclear so far. I would love to test anything with gflip as it has been my substitute for walking with Gouken since vanillalol!

How would be approaching this like walk up on a teleport wakeup? or jump in vs teleport wakeup?

I found lp hado plus either flip shenanigans or mp palm and if you have it mp palm>fadc works great vs tele. The hado obv can be timed as such it hits at the end of the teleport.

im just exploring new options to our os game. since the only options that have been tested/proven has been os palm, sweep and denjin. i think the best use of this idea would be as jump in / demon flip in vs teleport characters wake up. granted os palm will work but i think fliping after there teleport using hk or ex demon flips will give us a higher damage punish when they teleport.

I played with it a bit vs a teleporting Bison and I could OS the EX Flip and AutoTrack him for full combo after the EX Flip activated.

The only downside is if he decides to EX PC or EX Scissor out you both waste a bar and end up on opposite sides of the screen.

Still good to keep in mind if they get predictable. I guess you can also use a non EX Flip but you don’t have any invincibility so it’s kind of risky.

In Super you could OS hado and follow it up with palm for the 2 hitter as well… just something to keep in the back of your mind. I used to use this vs Akuma a lot b/c the hado would let me know to palm afterwards. Bison, Seth, and Dhalsim are a little tricker when they teleport than Akuma b/c he telegraphs where he’s going.

EX Demonflip is dangerous against EX Headpress. I’d recommend OS Backjump. Safe and punishes all reversals. Doesn’t catch Teleport/Backdash, but you take no damage as well. Use it when he’s near corner.
Getting Bison fullscreen is good or bad depending on who has life advantage. If YOU do, just leave him there.
Bison has answers for everything. His wakeup is excellent. He’s even got Teleport FWD as anti-OS. Just pick one OS and go for it.

Found something interesting : After an emty Demon flip ( Pressing no buttons, so let Gouken do the sweep )

You can do Dash Forward x2, ST.CloseMP. Your opponent gets up during active frames of the St.closeMP.

This means :

-If the Guy tries to Tech Throw you score the Hit. Then you can link either : Sweep, CR.HP, CR.MP.

  • You can insert an Anti-Backdashers Option select.

Probably already been discovered but I’m new to Gouken, so I don’t read everything like I should !

Bye

This is useful. This could help new players practice their timings.
However, experienced players should (which doesn’t mean they do) have their characters’ timings in their head, calculating meaties with their time perception skills alone. While this may help you for now, don’t be afraid to practice your improved timing skills later.

Post everything and anything. Repeating won’t hurt anyone.

Thanks and welcome to Gouken

Going from what Nagmere was trying to accomplish with using “OS Flip” the entire point of choosing to OS Flip would be to catch the teleport.

Even if you safe jumped and didn’t OS anything, If Bison did EX Headstomp on wake up you could simply walk under and punish him with whatever you wanted to. EX Headstomp on wake isn’t a tactic that any knowledgeable Bison wants to rely on. EX PC and Scissor are the first 2 choices mixed with a teleport here and there.

Depends. The Bison player can take notes. If he sees the opponent is OSing him, he will start taking risks, so his opponent goes for them too.
I’m not trying to make him abandon his idea. Just throwing new ones.

OSing vs bison is alwys a big gamble as each ofour options loses to something.

Found something else cool.

After a sweep. immediatly Dash forward > Whiff Stand close Hk > Plink Stand close MP. your opponent wakes up during the active frames of the Close Stand MP. You can insert Option select here.

I’d always wondered if it was possible, but a match I had last night confirmed it: You can FADC -> ShinSho after any Kongo near the corner. Doubt that poor Dee Jay knew what hit him off that predicted slide…

Yup, you can even throw an ex fb after any kongo in the corner into shin sho for like 650 dmg, hah.

Also, I’ve been playing a lot with denjin, and I found a way to do ambiguous cross-up after back throw dj. mp, denjin.

right away dash once, backdash once, cr. lp/cr. lk, jump. mk will cross up.
a little delay then dash once, backdash once, cr. lp/cr. lk, jump. mk will fall in the front.

you can do the same thing with ex palm , denjin, but instead of dash, you do lk df parry, or even dash, dash, backdash, cross up/ non cross up mk.

I’m trying to find the perfect timing for a really ambiguous cross-up, any help is appreciated.

I tried this in a couple matches and it stole me a few wins, since after cr. hp ex palm denjin, cross up mk ,st, mp cr. hp hadou will stun most of the cast.

I’m definitely going to be working on this with you in a day

I call that the Delfinator Special.

Have you tried pixel walking and then doing it?? That set up determines whether it hits in the front or the back and it’s so hard to read. It normally happens in a very gray area… a lot of the times when I decide to use it you’ll see characters going the opposite way and shit per autocorrect and you still land behind them.

It’s sort of like the below video, but if you walk forward just a bit more it will put you on the opposite side. Or make their reversal do something crazy  Nevamind the old video.

If you want a better idea of what I am truly saying then use Oni and sweep your opponent. If you jump directly after the cr. roundhouse you will land in front. If you move foward just a twitch you will land on the backside of the opponent. The same can be applied to Gouken.

I tried that, it kinda worked, but something that also changes the timing a lot is the fact that they are getting up from that face down, head towards knockdown. depending on how early and how late you press you land in the front and in the back, and I think there’s even a pixel there where you can land an unblockable.

I know

There are a couple of other goodies it will lead you to as well. You’ll definitely gain another application for his upclose EX Moves, as the can be used offensivey and defensively at the same time. It just varys on where and when you place his jump in attacks.

Goukens jump in game is sick, there are so many ways to abuse it.

In the past I’ve always talked about Goukens Vortex. This is the type of things I was always referring to, but I guess I never made much sense explaining it… or did I??

hmmmm… (Looks at my Avatar)

I call it the TAKIN FLIGHT special! lol

It’s not even a vortex. it doesn’t suck you in, it’s more like a…2-hit kill. denjin hits, half life is gone, next hit connects, the other half is gone.

After a forward throw versus DP-ish opponent F.Dash x2 > F.Jump > Dive Kick ( Not flip, the actual Dive kick ) It makes Ryu’s DP whiff. Probably against other as well.
