Labwork: Tests, results, discoveries

According to the frame data app they should all be SOFT knock down on anti air and counter hit.

lol I was thinking mid to hi kongo or hi to middle kongoshin myself…

and ahh yes BIG…Brothers In Gouken…look at rd 2 in the vid below and look for 55 secs in rd 2 , I am almost getting the armor cancel ultras to come out after a focus dash into kongoshin…in this particular example the kongo comes a little late after the focus absorb
but if you’ve watched my focus dash armor cancel ultra vids you know im gonna pull this off in game sooner or later…stay tuned!!!https://youtu.be/4TfnXzSFzXQ

a dude told me today that the very latest patch added a hitbox buff to tatsu. Has anybody heard of that?

I can’t find anything on that.

I think this is what he’s referring to

Risemix, where did you get the version 1.04? PC I assume… :frowning:

What I wanted to see was if all the hit boxes for changed for each hit. More specifically the start up hit box.

I’m going to LOL when I see it… Just make sure it’s not an attack that recover quickly or you’re going to get punished hard. :frowning:

I tried armor canceling other attacks but I couldn’t do it… It seems other characters armor cancel into other specials though… like Fuerte and Guy running with EX.

If I’m wrong somebody please let me know, but Gouken can only armor cancel to Ultra??? That doesn’t sit well with me for some reason.

Gouken can armor cancel to Super (pointless, probably but it can be done), Ultra 1, or Ultra 2. There’s a technical reason for it that someone gave me once but I forgot already.

Also, I can’t really think of very many common situations that would call for armor cancel Ultra. Gouken’s Ultras are really slow, so you’d need to parry a move which has a remaining active frames+recovery that adds up to less than that of his Ultra (11 or 13+travel time) and also be in range to connect. Obviously you can make plays like the one almost made by takinflight but those are like, super hard-read scenarios and pretty high-risk too. I haven’t really bothered to learn to do it.

I have 1.05 just like you. This image was taken from the USF4 General Discussion thread about undocumented changes.

Super overides ultra if u got full meters super is coming out.

You can also buffer focus during dash animations to where focus only come out if you get hit, is that an option select?

My execution is getting better ,but once I master whatever bs I’m trying I will post vids , I’m putting together some footage.

Option select focus dash option select for the win governor!

you should get it on PC so you can use FrameTrapped to test your ideas without the frustration of execution.

Nice buddy!!!

Well I think I know how It all works just need to pull it off automated your right…shoot me a link

Here are a few setups, maybe there’s one here you didn’t know about.

cs.MK one has been used for a while to beat SPDs, but you can beat DP with it too.

you found a use for red focus? are you a wizard? man that’s a nasty mixup. left/right mixup on whether i’m standing? serious wtf.

i’ve never used the cl.mk dp avoider before in-game. makes me laugh tho.

corner-denjin, back jump, backdash, overhead hits meaty with the tip of your finger.

theres no way anyones pulling that shit on me …

but nice tips for some heads out there…I need to cling to meter better…I liked the red focus one reset was cute

@takinflight

I started training certain scenarios over and over this way… thanks ot @mr83martinez

  1. Position the opponent where ever you like or in whatever the situation (THEN PAUSE THE GAME)… . for example if I want to practice them getting up I will sweep them, then press pause

  2. Then select record and exit out by pressing memory

The memory will store your position and you can record the opponent doing whatever…

Alll you will need to do after that is hit the back button to reset the situation…

I use this a couple ways… 1. is to practice MY repetition and 2. is to check all of the opponents options in certain scenarios against certain set ups.

Anyone been through Cammy’s knockdown with her Spiral Arrow followed up with an immediate cross-up jumping LK on your quick-rise?

I’ve always tried to counter that, and always thought it was because of lag that the counter didn’t come out in time, but it seems that no matter how you input the Kongoshin (either DP-motion or the actual reverse DP-motion), the Kongo won’t come out. In this cross-up situation, the Kongo will work with actually a half-circle motion.

You can try it in Training by selecting Gouken and Cammy, then record her doing Spiral Arrow followed immediately by her cross-up jumping LK (you have to time it on intuition as Gouken as Player 1 won’t quick rise).

Yeah, it’s kind of tight, so don’t feel bad about it…
