If they’re blowing you up on delayed hk flip it’s because you’re most likely gflip too early, or not delaying enough on the dive or just using it in the wrong setup. There’s so much manual timing it’s easy to get lost…amongst all the options
Unfortunately Oni has an insane amount of invincibility on his reversal ark that a lot of the set ups won’t work on him b/c he’s still invincible for most of his animations. If you have EX you can land and EX Flip on him to bait his reversal when Gouken lands… or try to mix up or jab string out.
My thing with Oni is just doing 50/50’s on the ground forcing him to mash reversal or frame trap for counter hits. There are set ups that allow you to cross him up during footsies and frame traps but he can mash on them.
There’s not much you can do about Guy’s EX Hurricane Kick Either but safe jump it.
I saw something a while back vs guys ex tatsu like 10% chance of stuffing , otherwise pretty bleak…kinda have to just bait it and land in that little empty pocket while staying ahead of the auto tracking…very very little room tho…all in hopes of baiting a whiff.
This SHOULD work for Denjin though. Just plink 3p with 3k. It just cant work for Shin Sho.
But thinking about it, he does ultra motion and then basically plinks a button and 3p. Desk did the same in that other video. I tried it for about an hour and got it to work once. It switch to the reg way and get it to work like 40% of the time. I dont get it. How are they getting kongo off two, what appears to be :hcf:? I just dont get it.
The Ultra motion is two fireballs. The Ultra shortcut is :d:, :df:, :d:, :df:, :f:. You can skip the first :f: in the ultra motion, but you absolutely must have the “second” :f: to complete it.
Now take input leniency.
Sit in :db:. When you want to kongo go to :d: :df: :d: :db: and hit :p: . Leniency allows you to be sloppy and get a kongo off that input. It also covers the first quarter circle of the Ultra motion. (Remember :db: :d: :df: :d: :db: + :p: ) So you have successfully put in the kongo and the first motion for the ultra in one. Now do a quarter circle (:d: :df: :f:) and hit :3p: .
Kongo cancel to Ultra.
So basically you are doing :db: :d: :df: :d: :db: ( :p: ) :d: :df: :f: + :3p:
It has to be done before the kongo burst but while you are absorbing the hit.
I know this already, this is how the inputs are supposed to be. But in a previous video of Desk and this old video of Desora doing it they both do :hcf: :hcf: plink :3p: with :3k: or vice versa and get kongo cancelled into ultra. Thats what I dont get. The way you explained it up there is how I do it no problem. I dont get this other way shown. It just doesnt make sense. How do you get kongo from two :hcf:? Pause the vid above at :09, all he did was what I described and somehow a kongo comes out.
