Labwork: Tests, results, discoveries

He Can, its just Akuma doesnt have any good AA normals. Well he has cr.hp and f.st.hp but neither are cancelleable. But if he happened to AA with, lets say, cr.mp, he can cancel into df.

Yeah, i meant to say that if he could it wouldn’t be that strong… I know he can do it off the reset like us though.

You can obviously get flip grab and parry once they abandon their reversal, and if they try to back dash you can OS them like you do now.

I’ve always thought it was pretty strong bc it puts Gouken in a really good position to pressure folk.

You can cancel to hado too and do some tricky stuff, but if they aren’t knocked back far enough and have something invincible it kills you a bit.

For anyone else who doesn’t have anything invincible for whatever reason… You can bully them with it.

I was in the lab about two weeks ago working on some chip schemes after cancelling into hado. It puts them right on the hado and like you said and if they dont have anything invincible they cant escape it. But for the ones that do have something invincible they either wouldnt do it or be stupid to because we would recover and would be too far away. I mean, its not ridiculously far but its far enough to have us not get hit. But after like an hour I stopped because I said to myself that I coulda just used f.st.hp to AA and killed them to begin with lol.

So lately I’ve been working on just gf’ing from cr.hp. Cr.hp, hado, theres no gain…I coulda just f.st.hp and got that 120. But flipping afterwards, even though I only get 80, we get pursuit into throw and dive kick pressure for more damage.

cr. HP to hado, I use when I would otherwise just use cr. HP as anti-air. I do that on auto-pilot at this point. I don’t feel comfortable with AA cr. HP to flip, but I can do it from cr. MK.

u can charge the hado to fuck with them, and mix it up with upwards hado if u feel great.

I’ve played Darktyu and so far is the only Akuma I’ve seen use cr hp>tatsu vs flip parry and it works but can be easily baited.

While enjoying EVO and taking notes at the same time lol…I saw Infiltration do something that I cant believe I’ve never realized. He got a knockdown and then right before the opponent wakes he did cl.st.mk to push the body away. Fucking genius. He used it just to get space but you know me! I went into training mode and played with it and came up with about 4 practical applications.

When you do it, it doesnt give you THAT much space. It puts you at about the tip of Ryu’s cr.lk, the very tip. I found that depending on which frames you do it, is dependent on how close or far you are from the opponent when they actually stand. So what I did was get a knockdown then dash dash dash like a madman like Im pushing the downed body into the corner and your opponent is gonna feel like you’re right on them when they wake. Most people, if you’re gonna be right on them st tech vs cr tech because its optimal. Or they reversal, lets say because they think you’re on top of them. When you do the cl.st.mk before they wake it instantly pushes the body away and if they reversal it will whiff or barely touch you, moreso the latter. If they st throw it will whiff and you can land a shit ton of things. There’s a crazy amount of options it appears.

I played some endless last night to see how it fared in actual competition and I was able to get hit with cr.lk, didnt find anyone st throw on wake (although I was playing scrubs). On another occassion a dp from Oni completely whiffed. In another instance, I did it early and counterhit someone with cr.hp.

Seems to be a legit tactic.

Good eye buddy!!! After you do that are you able to hit with something other than st mp???

Yeah, if they cr tech you can hit them cr.hp into something or f.st.mp. If you see them whiff a st throw, the same. Im gonna try and make a vid of a few things Ive come up with from this setup. Im gonna try and work on that tomorrow and have it up.

Seems like throw > double dash > dj command divekick beats Oni’s wake up srk…can someone confirm?

Hes all back shoulder on everything but lp srk… Command dive kick and gf dive can both apply but the hit/stun is totally diff on command dive kick so you don’t have many follow ups when you go up high.

Try low /ex kongo and cross up flip frame trap afterwards.

Mp/hp/ex palm will work too since it puts your invinc. active frames matched with their hit active frames. It’s just a little risky in case they mash but it works. You can actually beat some reversals like this such as Giefs green hand.

good, when i said that i was aiming for a special cancelable poke, like st mp or cr. mp, because i know that far st hp and hk can hit them, but i don’t know why sometimes i wiff the mp poke after…

I would like to see a video on this as I can’t imagine cl.mk bringing the characters backwards.

Dos you see evo?? Also YouTube air’s (Ruy) Channel and see the one that he shows mk

I always took the pushback for granted an rAther used cl mk for the quick retract and recover same as I would far mk vs downed opponents wakeup because so many are unfamiliar with our normals they usually try to wake dp only to whiff…

Use cr lk > mk gf for the cross up frame trap.

True about the follow ups but I was having a hard time with the flip kick not getting blown up vs. Oni. Only thing that seemed to work was the dash > delayed hk flip but to be honest, that is worn out and good players know it. After having Dek wipe the floor with me a few times just by using command divekick I’ve been learning it more. It really, really messes with wake up reversals on a lot of characters, it does exactly what you were always talking about with the keys to the kingdom, but to the opponent it looks like it an easy target. It also seems to at least trade with things like srks that flip kick would just get beat by. Trade is better than beat, even if the damage is low.

Only Top 8. I didn’t have time to watch anything prior.

As for the video, I saw him demonstrate it with Ryu. Man DEK had me confused with his ambiguous wording. I thought he had meant cl.mk pushing Gouken backwards, when it was indeed his knee that pushed the opponent back… except in the corner.

LOL I said cl.st.mk pushing the downed opponent on their beggining wake up frames. I said nothing about pushing Gouken back. I’m gonna make a video tonight.
