One of the main reasons I hardly ever land super is because I’m always burning meter doing EX Flip and EX Tatsu… or hoping to land EX Palm.

Another I was working on was backthrow j.mp (one hit) gf dive kick slightly delayed crosses up every single time. I worked on it in training but the dummy Ryu dp’s and it whiffs. Tried it at my local thing and it worked every single time I did it. Ahhh they were so mad…" But I blocked the right way!!! Fuckin BRO-ken (Gouken)" hahaha.
I have a few and like I said, I’m gonna just try and throw them all in a simple vid this weekend. Still looking for a super canned thing like the Akuma thing though. That setup is guaranteed every time because its on your opponents wake and after a hard knockdown. This overhead one, theres a few outcomes and we bank on the fact that they do nothing which DOES happen 90% of the time but still. I’m gonna continue and see if I can get something similar and that works on everyone. I believe that Akuma setup works on 90% of the cast.
I just wanna say that I’ve recently found a new love for jump dive kick. Just space the jump so the top of the arc is just barely on their front side, dive kick, and make their reversals go the wrong way. Dash full punish. I couldn’t care less about crappy hitstun or low damage, I don’t even want it to hit them.
On the smallest characters coincidentally, the ones who ex tat and tatsu whiffs completely on due to their size these are the ones susceptable to ex gflip’s best qualities…Makoto viper sim chun and others are best pressured when engaged from above at the earliest point of the “wakeup horizon” , this is when they are rising into crouch post knockdown.
You can land it off of every hard knockdown except GF Grab… which is possible but very gray… The recovery is just too long on that damn thing… it’s currently 12 frames of recovery… it should be reduced to about 4-6 frames… Gouken loses a lot of momentum for using it, it’s NO safe jumps after that… ONLY stuffs and baits… not good.
Anyway… IN FACT if you attack it right it will make ALL of her SRK’s whiff, but your hurt box still stays in front so theres no auto correct…
You can OS her with Cr. Roundhouse or whatever with the same set up too too since it can catch her back dash… but if she does SRK you kinda blow it b/c your OS will come out and you can’t punish her whiff…
I think it’s a good transition from safe jumping her to block the srk, and then you throw the timing to stuff her every once in a while to get the damage… All she need is to whiff one SRK and you can take off almost half her bar.
I find it more beneficial to do deep dive kick and stuff her versus trying to safe jump her. I’ve said this before about safe jumping some 4 framers online…its just difficult sometimes. I lean more toward stuffing her in particular because you either get a full combo or she whiffs and you can OS and chase her ass down (god if I only played Denjin!). Its a win win imo. If you safe jump dive kick 1. It may not work (if online) or 2. She will dp fadc and then YOU’RE on the defensive with that instant air drill bullshit.
^lol, yeah, safe-jumping someone only to block their SRK-FADC to mix-ups is total bullshit. I steer away from that too. But I think it’s difficult to stuff her SRK on the backside in the same fashion I do with shotos, but I still go for it, as a trade is in my favor (IMO) anyhow.
Ya just gotta do it as deep as you can. Doing it deep like that is safe and almost rarely trades (in my personally experience) because her shit doesn’t auto correct very well. The way I place it is I just try and make the dive kick cross up.
Yeah… It’s always interesting to see that no one hardly uses Dj mk for the base vortex… Of course it’s old news to you, as most of this “new” stuff is.
I always laugh bc a lot of people used to try to shit on you for using Dj mk > roundhouse, not knowing you were aiming at that gray area/ambig/unblockable window the entire time.
I just knew hard knock setups gave me that old school sf2 feeling , I realized it was the best equalizer I had early on since there are myriad safer and faster tried and true characters we loathe…but yeah dj mk : cuts like a guillotine!

I’ve been doin ok on pad on 2 accts i have about 10k nothing compared to my super #1 days. I’ve been taking my time more and have learned mire patience thru pad , however backdashibg and fdashing need to be done on d pad while playing thumbstick…
