Oh snaps lol…yeah I dont even remember what thread, what post or even what it said.
It was me suggesting our dash is pretty good option when people jump up close, it’s pretty fast :3 (Just you know, not so far except when karafocusdashed which makes it a little slower)
Keep in mind after forward throw you can do it - dash forward once > hk GF or you can walk, or opt not to walk and just do hk GF from where you were standing like you are doing now. If you dash once, do hk GF early and late. early should put you in faux safe jump and late should make you cross up at the unblockable/hard to block window.
It usually throws people off b/c they are expecting Gouken to dash twice…, but it works better online b/c of early wake ups etc… If you walk forward a bit and then do it, you can also hit a lot of the cast out of their reversals or they whiff… OS Denjin or GF can usually punish them…
I’m going to order some more cables and put some vids up at some point… but it is nice to keep a few things to yourself for a while. LOL.
Ah yes, I see. I’ve been trying to work on a crossup setup situation like Akuma has. When Akuma lands df throw he can dash and immediately go into ex flip and it will cross up and DEEP too. Sooo ambiguous. I mean, its been out there for a while but its sooo dirty lol. The thing is Gouken cant create that exact time and distance for that. I’m positive I can stumble upon something similar and I actually have been working on one. Jump in of your choice, cl.st.mp, cr.hp, lk tatsu, fadc, diagonal back j.hk, f.dash, hk gf dive kick…shit crosses up perfectly. And its right on their wake…the caveat to that is that they cant quick rise. I guess you still get the initial combo and position but the crossup setup is dead if they dont stay down. Theres gotta be something and I WILL find it lol. I just need that Akuma situation to where something happens, knockdown or something and we get perfect spacing and timing for a ex gf kick to cross up and have it be canned every single time. Right now this is dependent on if they quick rise or not. I wish we had faster recovery on our gf throw.
Are you able to link me to a vid so I can see how it hits. I think I’m pretty sure of what you are talking about though.

Gouken has a variation of that too…
Lol thats what Im trying to figure out. It has to be but I cant find a situation that mimics that specific space and timing. I’m gonna work on it tonight some more. If you know…tell me already!!! LOL
LOL.
It’s a certain way you have to time it… I will see if I can load a quick video for you…
I also have one against sakura in which she has to block ex flip as cross up and standing. Anything else she gets tagged including blocking crouching as cross up. Lol
You can do it after all of his hkds except gf throw. (there seems to be one for that but it’s not a safe jump set up so I don’t like it)
Some stuff from the MASTER vault…
You can get this against almost everyone (maybe everyone if I work on it more), though as it’s almost impossible to get ONE recording to work the same on everyone.

Hey Phunk… Sakura gets blown up if she is crouching in either direction for this set up making EX Flip an overhead. She HAS to block standing, have you encountered this with any of the other characters when testing??
The one below Viper HAS to block it crouching as cross up…
Extra Shit vs. Viper… She has to block as low cross up or she get’s blown up. Sorry about the blur… but it’s there.

The trick to the entire set up is knowing how to get Gouken to land on the other side. I’ve been able to get these without using EX too, though EX is a hell of a lot easier.
I was working on a spreadsheet back during the summer that I was too lazy to finish. I was eventually going to cover every hard knockdown situation but it was way too much work for one person. Maybe it will help you with your testing. I started on it after I found the Vega unblockable and thought it was pretty much possible on anyone that you could crossup a demonflip divekick on.

The setup is after ex-palm dash sweep and forward throw with regular demonflip kick. I’m sure your setup would work best after backthrow, j.mp, c.hk. I haven’t done any testing on the ex-flip other than the one’s gaku found.
Whats the timing on these? IAM, is the dive kick immediately canceled are are you delaying it to get it to cross up?
Phunk, thats hk gf…are you immediately doing dive kick or delaying it a bit?
I use Phunks regularly but I can only get it to hit deep. Its like it’ll either hit deep (deep dive kick) or it will whiff and land behind. Rarely have I got to crossup and when I do its not on their wake like it is here. Its them standing and then getting crossed up because, like I said just a few ago, I’ve done it immediately and it just whiffs with me landing behind. And on top of that this shit is a safe jump (both setups)? Lol…drop some knowledge on me guys.
Yo…fuckin ridiculous
whatd i misss…____ŠŠŠŠ
There’s a delay. If you do the demonflip kick immediately that’s just your bnb safejump. The problem with all the ambig/unblockable setups off sweep there’s not enough time to whiff normals and get it consistent. It’s all manual timing. All you can do is go into training mode and grind it out.
The reason you may be whiffing is that not all character’s can be crossed up with demonflip kick from sweep from the usual sweep combos. The ex-flip is interesting because it changes your trajectory and may open up more people to be crossed up from different sweep setups that otherwise wouldn’t have been able to be crossed up from hk demonflip kick.
As for practicing, the best dummies are Cammy and Sakura. Their hitboxes are so big you have days to mix them up. They can be crossed up from forward throw and sweep.
It’s hard to explain bc each character it’s different with ex flip. What I CAN tell you though is you want to get flip on the first recovery frames to make it do what it do. The timing will vary… It’s hard to explain bc it’s manual, it’s one of those things you have to get a feel for bc each character is different bc of hit boxes etc.
On balrog you will hit behind but still land in front almost always…
Like Phunk said, it’s a lonnnnng list and it’s a bunch of ways to achieve it. Setting the dummy to jump out will give you the best ideas to time IMO.
But again it’s all manual so aside from landing super early it’s something you got to feel for… The more you do it, the more you’ll get an idea of what you are looking for and how you want it to hit.
There are ways to get this during footsies too!!! From near and far… But it is risky for normal flip bc they can reversal you or jump and hit/grab and you have to be some what close for ex to cross.
With that being said, it’s still sick, and very useful if you catch them just going on the defensive.
My biggest fear since they have been talking about doing a v 2013 update is putting out even more set ups for Gouken and they end up nerfing him or them in the process of updating the game, with the mindset that he doesn’t need anything else b/c he has gimmicks.
It think having set ups/gimmicks are good to have, but there also has to be ways to access them, which is why most of my requests for 2013 are centered around hard knock down and keeping momentum.
Well tbh here I really hope there isnt an update. Capcom is big on nerfs and they’re not gonna just give him something and not take something away. I like Gouken exactly the way he is now. You remove ANY one of his tools and its gonna make things more difficult for us than it already is. I mean, seriously, imagine if they nerfed lp palm or made changes to cr.mk or changed frame data on ANY one of his moves. It just wont be good. If they’re gonna give him new ability then great, but if they’re gonna give him something and nerf something else I dont want it.
Found a canned gf dive kick crossup btw last night. I’ll see if I can make a vid this weekend. It works if they’re standing or crouching.
Yeah, NO nerfs… I’m hoping they don’t even nerf the top tier… just leave them alone and make everyone else a little more capable. Look at the bad matchups for everyone and figure out how can you make them better… I’m on the fence about Unblockables… probably b/c they truly don’t work on Gouken if you get the right kongo… but that’s the problem… LOL.
Get that vid up… which knock down is it off of… and are you using EX or standard??
Its EX, its simple though, nothing crazy. When we were talking about getting out of trouble in the corner, ex flipping and it crossing up if they were in jab range…I took that and turned it offensive. I like to double overhead alot simply because its damage and its funny lol. So after sweep dash in, point blank overhead (they get hit) immediately ex flip dive kick kick it crosses up whether they’re crouching or standing. So this is a canned one we can use. No one presses buttons after they get hit with overhead. Everyone I’ve played either crouch techs or just continues to block. If they do nothing or press a normal they’re still in the same position and get crossed up …if they do a special move (never happens) we’re invincible and land for a punish. High reward - low risk one ex bar for a pretty much guaranteed combo.
