Both CvS2 and MvC2 (as well as 3S) are dying games. You guys need to come to terms with that. If you want to blame something blame SF4, not Choi or NorCal.

I think that cableguy, chunk and neezy are speaking on behalf of norcal’s community regarding marvel. I can tell you that if Marvel is a guaranteed event or significantly involved in norcal regionals it will definitely have an impact on the amount of players that could show from socal since marvel is nowhere near “dead” in socal, in fact I think its a game that bringing lots of hype due to a new generation of players versus old school players. (FFA thread)
I know for a fact that marvel could only contribute to this event in a positive way. I’m sure that aside from the tournament there would be big money flying around marvel, it always has. An example of such is the possibility of a 5 on 5. Who wouldn’t want to see a WC 5 on 5 of norcal’s best versus socal’s best? Also who doesn’t want to see big money matches happening? Do you mean to tell me that if Chunk is facing Soo (if he goes) or if other big names are facing off against eachother for money there wouldn’t be sidebets or a significant ammount of hype involved?
Please consider Marvel for this event. Like neezy said, dreamcasts and tvs won’t be a problem in terms of players bringing them if necessary.
HAHA u serious? I believe the argument was trying to understand the game lineup decision through John Choi’s knowledge. Not targeting choi/norcal or blaming people, just trying to understand because it seems most dont.
I guess I can agree with cvs2 but iuno bout hdr. I believe hdr is the least played game right below marvel. But I respect the lineup its their choice.

O_o? Mvc2 and 3s are far from dead in norcal. As long as theres black people to play marvel and uh…Whatever race plays 3s the most there will always be competition. Its like mexicans and kof, You know what I mean

I’m not saying nobody plays MvC2 anymore because I know that’s not true, but Choi said there’s been a history of better CvS2 turnouts for NCR, which is why it got the spot instead of MvC2. Now I’ll shut up before my Marvel-loving boyfriend kills me. :x
But the problem is MvC2 still has good turnouts for tourney’s(Right?) So why wouldnt it be marvel over say…HDR? And I understand the reason for HDR, Finding a good port of ST Is hard unless you want to run shit off laptops.
I know mvc2 is dying. Even if we don’t have an mvc2 tourney, all im saying is that when marvel players are around ncr, we bring the hype to the event, cuz we’re the one’s always calling people out for sidebets, trash talkin or setting up grudge matches for sf4 or even some other games, lol like i said, marvel players make the hype happen in norcal. Not to sound conceded, but honestly where would ncr be without its marvel players?

You DO have a point, But you said it yourself, Marvel is dying. Even in norcal, cvs2>Marvel half the time. I dont have a problem with marvel, Mostly because I dont play it, But The line ups been set

If I remember correctly, when I ran the HDR Fuddrucker’s tourneys 1, 2 and 4 (couldn’t make 3 for business reasons), HDR outnumbered Marvel each time. A full bracket of 32 players entered HDR. I remember Marvel having about 20 players for a few of the tourneys.
I know that the hardcore HDR players are seldom seen, but there is a small group if you look hard. Also, Socal has a pretty big HDR scene, and I believe a number of socal players should be competing in NCR.
No hate to Marvel, as I would love for a marvel tourney to happen. It’s all up to the time and resources available to the guys running the tourney.

We are re-examining the event hall size and resources and considering adding Marvel and maybe more. Stay tuned…
