[KS2 Productions] NORCAL REGIONALS 2009 11/21 - 11/22

I can bring a TV/dreamcast or xbox360
holla at me

Closest airport is San Jose. About 15 mins away from venue. Airport code is SJC
Alternatives are San Francisco or Oakland airport, both about 45 mins away. Code: SFO or OAK.

I can bring tvs and shit and shit if i am here. Although I doubt I’ll play I suck :frowning:

Is there any available space where we could fit 4 Tvs for mvc2?

chunk really huggin on to marvel though lol

i wanna really see my boy crizz-gief body niggas for real

As of now there is no extra space available and hence no Marvel tourney was planned.

Come talk to me on that Sat once all the events are running. If turnout is smaller than anticipated and/or there is extra room leftover, you may bring in some TVs and run Marvel.

You know you wanna enter son!

<3!

Damn that sucks. I wanted to inform everyone ahead of time that there will be a marvel tournament under your consent so more people could come, but it’ll be too late by that Saturday, unfortunately.

i don’t understand why don’t we have the same games as “EVO” did, take out cvs2 and put marvel up, If marvel was at EVO this year then it should still be at NCR this year, and cvs2 wasn’t at EVO this year so why is it at NCR this year, it doesn’t make any sense…

i agree lets see marvel nobody plays cvs2 anymore.

There are a lot of sleeping cvs2 players out there. And there hasn’t been a marvel tournament in a while that got any entries. Fudds was pretty good, but then us 925 players got lazy. :frowning:

I’m not sure how the turnouts would be like for either CvS2 or MvC2 and I wish both of them could be at the tournament. Marvel got 26 and 20 participants at the last two Fuddruckers, so it could be a little bit bigger this time since it’s a major. And if CvS2 could get a decent turnout, I’d like for it to stay because there are no places in the country to see top level CvS play anymore, except in parts of norcal now and it’s been over a year with CvS2 seeing nothing major.

http://jchensor.blogspot.com/

I think jchensor’s 2008 Addendum article covers the problems very well with both of the games and why some people are reserved about getting further ahead in them.

edit: yeah, and I think that article sort of answers WhiteTiger’s post about how the EVO 2k9 lineup came to be, but I still would like to see a CvS2 tournament again as it has been forever (and it was one of Norcal’s biggest games with a lot of good players compared to the other regions so it should be getting a decent bracket) and Marvel to be fitted in somehow, probably with John Choi’s original suggestion? It could still work, because after all this would probably be the same as Fuddruckers or West Coast Warzone with SFIV being the main lineup (150+ players) and the rest just being side tournaments with a few dozen people for a bit of extra comp and entertainment.

EVO is a different tournament catering to a more national audience. NCR is primarily catered towards a Norcal audience and hence CvS2 was selected for the lineup rather than MvC2. CvS2 has been the biggest game for the last few NCR’s with 60-80 players every year. It always outdrew 3S and Marvel.

If there was enough space and resources we would have additional games such as Blaz Blue and Marvel and even team events for SF4. But time and space is limited so we chose to only run events that are most popular and can manage.

If this NCR is a success we can look into renting bigger venues next time and include more games in the lineup.

In other words, Its cvs2 and choi plays it along with the rest of norcal. So quit bitching, Though I dont understand why no marvel but whatever >.> I’d just pick clockwork and throw rocks all day.

eventhough cvs2 is norcals game, many people have quit since its no longer showcased at evo. So to speak about past numbers it theoretical.

I understand this is a keystone tournament and no one at keystone is known for mvc2. But how can you deny a whole genre of players? esp. a game still in the evo lineup?

If keystone has a problem supplying DC’s, the marvel community has no problem supplying them. I have always been a supporter of keystone reguardless of their marvel perspectives. But I think we should think in terms of a community rather than self-interest. its evident according to posts which game shall be chosen.

what happend to UNITY? Norcal as ONE? lets not derive.

I think if cvs2 would have got a remake and switched to the next gen consoles it would be played a lot more through the nation again.

I dunno, The Roll cancel ruined it for me :frowning:

This is not a problem of supplying DCs but mainly space and time needed to run an additional tournament.

Once again, comparing EVO to NCR does not make sense as the target region/audience is completely different. This is like asking why EVO doesn’t have Melty Blood even though SBO has it.

Historical numbers show CvS2 as the most popular game in Norcal. Aside from historical numbers from past 4 NCRs, current pre-reg shows:

SF4 = #1 by far

HD Remix/CvS2 = 2nd most popular with about same numbers.

The game list is final. MvC2/BlazBlue/Team events can be run on the side if time/space is available.

Plus marvel players bring all the hype to ncr and sf4 tournaments with all the money matches and trash talkin

where would all the excitement be if we weren’t around?

lol we make it happen

Marvel hype aint there no more dude, its all been done…
