Kotaku aside, it’s got some good points.

What the hell nonsense did you just make me read?
Gotta love an article with a premise based off ignorance of the subject matter.
Seth should have explained XvSF to the interviewer to see if his head exploded.
Man, I wish my post on infinites didn’t get purged when SRK updated.
Aww man, I wanted to see his opinion on the Skullgirls method of dealing with infinites. The interviewer probably didn’t even think to ask the question.
Infinites are the FGC’s version of Stockholm Syndrome.
Edit: also, seriously. “They’re bad and we’re patching them out, but they show something good about the game” Take a minute to think about that… hell, take several.
Broken game=Fun
I can KIND OF see where he’s coming from. Infinites aren’t good in and of themselves but the fact that they exist means that there is enough leeway in the combo system to allow for creativity, which allows the game to evolve.
Which to me says “use IPS dammit” but whatever.
Heh, I’m just allergic to Killian’s Flimflam. His entire job seems to be lying to the community, telling them what they want to hear.
I wonder if he wakes up at night covered in sweat trying to catch his breath. The guy went from writing the domination articles to fully contradicting himself over the years. He really embodies the phrase “sellout”.
I’m honestly surprised that Kotaku took time out of their white-knight-agenda to demonstrate their lack-of-knowledge on the fighting game genre, even more!
Oh god this is too funny. tossing and turning"Sirlin… ST… Capcom money… On-disc DLC… Ono… SF4 is a great game, really… Say ‘represent’ more on commentary…"
You have to feel bad for the guy, he probably thought he was getting a dream job. He could work on fighting games for pay, AND help the community out! The moment of realization must have been painful.
Hey! Mike is gonna tell you guys to STFU and leave Bri…Seth alone! Sure he cons you but it is his job and that makes it okay! Plus he is a wonderful person! *No really he is a nice guy.
He probably gets a good paycheck. And he has a better job than most people. I see what you mean though. Going against your own principles and trying to cater mostly to the crowd that you don’t like must be hard.
I wonder if it would be possible for him to go indie if he wanted to.
Like Roboto said, it’s probably a pretty good job really. They pay for him to go to all the events and all over the world (although that probalby gets old eventually)… as much as we joke about it, he’s probably pretty at peace with the whole thing.
For me its just an issue because I think it actually hurts the community, he feeds these harmful myths.
to me, it says “capcom ain’t gonna use IPS everrrr hahahaha!”
Seth understands. You whiny bitches don’t. A system is better when it’s free enough to allow for creativity, but not so free that it allows for stupidity (sengoku basara x), nor so restrained that it doesn’t allow for anything exciting (marvel super heroes vs street fighter).
They might if they could get away with it
Remember, the whole thing is that Killian knows that infinites have absolutely no place in a modern, quality game, but has to say this crap to please the culture heads.
By ‘creativity’ you mean ‘copying the optimal combo off of youtube’, right?
The guy who posted it on Youtube was being creative.
