Korean arcade parts discussion

Thanks for the quick answer. I rotated the mounting plate 90 degrees and threw the LS-32 in.

Your welcome dude.

More details on the Crown SDL-301 Infiltration lever here.

An octogate option for the Crown SDL-301?

Looks like I’m going to wait on purchasing a Crown Stick for a while.

I’ve got a question about the shaft/handle for Korean levers:

If I were to purchase the pink ball top handle as displayed here, could it fit into the 309MJ or the 303MJ models, or even the regular 309’s and 303’s for that matter- basically any joystick with the collar?

Yeah they should be able to fit Japanese and Korean models. These shafts should be based on the modern lever series so they should have the same bottom end.

Thanks for the quick reply. I am debating on picking up a ball top handle alongside the 309MJ when I finally manage to get one.

Quick advise: The shaft fits with most kinds of joysticks from Crown, whlist it does not fit into Sanwa joystick series so please keep that in mind before purchase.

RIghto; I figured as much on that.

Speaking of levers, does anyone know where to get the one as seen on this page? I’ve only seen red, white, green, and black lever colors, but not that shade of purple.

That would accent perfectly with my current arcade stick. I’d love to have it.

I had attempted to get one offering you from Crown, but unfortunately they’re no longer manufacturing the shaft with violet/ purple coloured battop hand grip.

What about using Crown JLF conversion shaft with LB-30N series or any other compatible battops?

Perhaps you can purchase conversion shaft from FOCUSATTACK

I’ve got the Crown conversion shaft. It doesn’t fit the actuator that comes with the 309 but will go through the gate with a bit of twist so it won’t go in as easily as the stock shaft. With the 309M, it won’t go through the gate but fits the actuator (again a bit snug). Not sure if it’s an inconsistency in the manufacturing of the Crown sticks that might be causing the issue, as from a glance the actuators are about the same size. I doubt that’s the reason for it not being able to pass through the 309M’s gate though as to me, it does seem like the conversion shaft has a slightly bigger diameter compared to the stock shaft.

since you’re replying, are RED Myoungshin Fanta (http://www.kowal.itcom.pl/ArcadeParts_pliki/joyMSFN.htm) not produced anymore? it’s been years since I last saw one, I only see Black/Green…

Darn. That’s unfortunate. Would have loved to get that lever color for my Korean stick when it finally arrives; it’d accent it perfectly. Would you consider producing more lever colors such as bringing back that violet/purple lever? I’d love to have more options for customization.

I’ve heard things about the conversion shaft, namely from this review. I’m not entirely sure how well that might work out for me.

Anyone selling Fujin 2s guys? I’ve been trying to get one for months. @kkolding was talking about them a while back but I haven seen him comment here in months.

Installed all my parts into my Makestick Pro Vewlix. Crown 309, Sanwa/Paradise Arcade Shop OBS-MX, Brook Universal Fighting Board.

I got some interesting notes when working on it, only three buttons for Share, Home and Touch were available while everything else was the case only. So if you do plan on getting one, get a couple of screws from your local hardware store when it comes to mounting your lever as well as your PCB. It’s pretty much a DIY case. I am not a big fan of the two holes that’s meant for USB output. One is for the USB cable coming from the inside while the other is for a USB out port. While I am using a cable for now, I am planning to put in a Neutrik USB jack.

I really do like the weight of it. While the main part is plastic, the bottom metal plate gives it enough for it to not be light nor heavy. The print quality of the art is really good and the plexi is also of good quality.

While I am disappointed of the lack of the anti-slip mat that they have on their Korean store, it’s not a big deal since I can buy a felt or rubber mat and do it myself.

In terms of the Korean lever being close to the buttons, I don’t really have a problem with it but I probably have relatively smaller hands.

@istmall Can you add the normal 309 Helpme lever to the Makestick site? I still see this one with no option to get the normal version if I plan to get another one.

Ask him on Twitter @kasperkolding.

In other news: One of the managers at a Net Arena in Korea is also making his own lever called the Kaze Lever. Looks like the top is a Sanwa bat top with a custom bottom end similar to a Myoungshin Fanta. It also uses an interesting setup. Looks like it has the Crown 309 model and has three Panasonic switches for left, right and down while there is one Gersung for up. I wonder…

I will probably contact Kaze if the email on the Net Arena YT page is correct. After reading a bit of a Google translated version of Kaze’s announcement of the lever on the Naver page, it sounds like @istmall will carry the Kaze Lever.

I got some more images of it. http://imgur.com/a/IX0TJ

Unfortunately no, and it’s not only red but green as well. I had many enquiries from our customers asking for green coloured battop hand grip but Myeongshin said they’re no longer producing both red and green in future times… that’s why we have only black for select option.

Really tempted to buy the Onmi Fightstick Korean version to try out. I realized that I grew up using Korean stick. How you guys liking the Onmi Fightstick?

I liked my Omni for a while. The only problem I have is that it doesn’t have a USB cable port but just a cable from the PCB itself. Not a big deal, I am just picky. The new one does allow people to replace the cable easily but it ain’t the same. As long as you don’t tie it around the stick with all your might like a monster, then it should be fine.

I’d be interested in one as well if anyone is ordering for commission still.

I currently have the newest revision of the Omni FS, a Joytron Exchanger and a Makestick pro.

My thoughts on the three:
Omni:
Pros:

  • The case looks great, it’s nicer in person than in images online and I appreciate it’s simplistic design.
  • The case is all metal, so it’s hefty and feels great in my hands.
  • I like it’s current namco button layout better than others such as the vewlix.
    Cons:
  • The plexi glass edge can be annoying while playing.
  • For me the stick is too close to the edge of the case. It should be moved up some for better balance.

Joytron:

  • Rounded front edge is conformable during play.
  • Since the top opens with the push of a button it’s the easiest to swap parts in, this is good if you have several sticks on hand and plan to experiment.
    Cons:
  • The case is large, but feels cheap in your hands since it is all plastic, even the bottom.
  • The stock levers resistance is too low (the lowest of any korean lever that I’ve tried) and imo renders the stick unusable unless replaced with a higher resistance tensioner.
  • It doesn’t have plexi glass for swappable art if that’s your thing.

Makestick pro:
Pros:

  • Nice balance of plastic and metal, it is still hefty.
  • No harsh edges, feels comfortable to play.
  • Detachable cable is nice.
  • Stick and button placement are ideal for me. Plenty of forearm and hand space.
  • If you get the old hori style rainbow layout and discard the first two buttons the stick and button spacing is good for lap play.
    Cons:
  • The case is glossy black, would prefer a slightly textured matte plastic
  • I believe the case mold is re-used from other sticks. It has some oddities like a random latch door on the right side and a hole on the back for a cable pass-through.
  • The screws used to mount the plexi aren’t counter sunk, this could be annoying for some

I’ve just recently installed some Gersung GSM-V1623A2 Microswitches on the 307 (in addition to the 60a grommet from Focus Attack) and I’ve noticed at times while playing around with Guile in SFV down doesn’t seem to register. I was wondering if I had a bad switch or is it from the actuator itself since someone mentioned teh 307 actuator is too big.

I don’t think that this is something you’d experience from an actuator that is too large, that’s something that would more aptly happen with an actuator that is too small. Even then, it’s more often encountered in a diagonal input & not cardinal direction. Out of curiosity, is your actuator white or black? It’s my guess that it’s likely the switch itself. Is the switch intermittent in it’s inputs or does it behave as dead?
