Korean arcade parts discussion

Here’s 2 more cents…

So after finding which switches I preferred the most. I figured why not change the rubber grommet out. I didn’t mind the way it felt but I figured since I bought the Fanta upgrade kit, might as well go the whole 9 yards for the sake of review…

Once opening my 303 , I come to find the rubber grommet that came in it inside it is white. Resemblance of the silicone ones that come in a 307ST. I didn’t know these came with the 303’s also. I replaced it anyways, and in the process, the white grommet felt stiffer.

Once I swapped it out with the ASI grommet, the tension is definitely less than the white one that came stock on my 303.

I’m a little busy (and broke) over the next couple months with university assignments and moving apartments, but once I’ve free time I’d be happy to help.

For the japanese mount Crown sticks what is the general opinion on what to get nowadays ? I needed a replacement for the Myoungshin on my Saulabi but figured I should try and put a Crown on the extra Hori I Have sitting on the closet since is easier to find for now on most shops.

Should I get the 303-FK or most of you feel the 307FJW or the 307ST is a better option? I’ve been playing with Myoungshin for a few years now and mainly Tekken.

And what about the fanta airbags, any news on a easy way to get them?

Thanks you in advance.

Review of ISTmall FLF Joystick
Price: ~$20 USD

FLF joystick from “IST mall” has actually been out for a while, but I got my hands on it only a few days ago. I am quite impressed! I am a big fan of the Korean Fanta airbag, also known as a modded version of Myoungshin Fanta. It comes in two variations a normal version and a softer version this review is based on the soft version.

My initial thought about the FLF stick was that it felt like Sanwa JLF, but without it being as sensitive as the Sanwa! The throw on the joystick feels like it is 1-1,5mm shorter than the Myoungshin Fanta. The spring performs as good as the Myoungshin Fanta. It jumps back to neutral in a very organic fashion. I quickly got adapted to the stick and could perform combos and movements to perfection! (I play Tekken). The shorter throw was weird at the start. However, after I got used to it, I felt that I used less energy compared to the Myoungshin Fanta.

The FLF joystick uses Sanwa JLF shaft with Sanwa bat screw top, whereas the Myoungshin Fanta uses a solid bat top (you can easily use the Myoungshin shaft instead). The housing of the stick uses similar measurements as the Myoungshin Fanta, but it has some minor microswitch support improvements. It also uses same microswitches as the Myoungshin Fanta airbag. This stick offers a Japanese mounting plate, so you don’t need to mod your stick heavily to fit the joystick.

My score for this joystick is 8/10. Simply because it felt as Myoungshin Fanta airbag with a shorter throw but the same neutral zone. You can fit it in almost any joystick case on the market. If there were made some improvements, I would recommend a new shaft something like what Fujin airbag uses.

@kkolding whould you say that this is a better option than the Crown one if you want a japanese case compatile korean stick?
I have the crown one, and its ok but it doesnt feel 100% , mostly becaus of the diagonals beeing so tricky to hit compared to other koreans ive tried

For me it’s 100% better then the crown joystick. You would have an easier time hitting diagonals with this version.

Black rubber is normal type. Soft type is red rubber.

Damn…I’ve been wanting a flf.

flf lever series made by istmall. It is manufactured in Myoungshin Fanta factories. and flf’s rubber is compatible with Myoungshin Fanta lever.

Great. Now lets get IST to sell their products to us living outside of South Korea.

I do help out if anyone want to buy anything from ISTmall, I talked my girlfriend into lowering her commission price to $18USD and shipping to anywhere in the would is usually around $~25-30USD the stick it self is $~18-20USD Please PM me if you need anything.

309fj lever will be realeased.

I am going to suggest it to the ceo of istmall.

I do remember IST tried to do an international online store but every time it pops up, it closes a month later. The problem was that they were not selling the latest parts such as the PS4 Makestick Pro models.

I just got a HRAP 4 Kai…I posted in other threads about my issues with a ball top square gate. I really really need a battop circular gate (not octagonal…circular). Is anyone willing to mod a stick for me or knows where I can buy a Korean style stick right out the box? I’m so upset at myself that I didn’t get the Mad Catz Korean style stick when I had the chance. Same goes for the Etokki stick…Yeah I know I can mod sticks, but I’m not tech savvy and more about just getting better at the game. If I can’t buy the right stick for me outright then I’m just gonna order a Crown battop with circular gate and hope that it works with my stick.

I’d get a Crown 307 on Focus Attack, it’s not overly expensive and moddable with switches and rubber if you want to. Mine is modded with korean switches (Gersung) and I have a rubber grommet I still have to install (it comes with a soft silicon grommet stock, pretty good I’d say).
It’s great!

New (? ) Joytron Arcade Stick with changeable lever, about $100.
