Korean arcade parts discussion

I had one in an old vx-sa amd I know rhe hrap4 is thinner…i also have one in nhtranwhich is slimmer still and fits with no problem. 8)

Did you happen to try the 309 yet? When you say you tried all the rubbers, did you try the normal tension airbag rubber (I think it’s black) and the softer one (the bright red silicone) ? How would these compare to the crown 303 & 307?

A quick update:

This is the current domestic ship list I have. I’m going to start cutting the Fanta kits today, and prepare shipments.

First, of those listed, can I get a show of hands as to who owns a Fanta? Up to three will receive a kit with Kowal Flat Converter plate.
Second, of those on the list, I have two with confirmed addresses. Can the remaining three contact me via PM with their addresses?

You mean Myoungshin Fanta, right? If so, I have one.

Yes, thanks.

I have a myoungshin fanta crown 303 jap/k mount and 307 jap /k mount…and i have my hrap4 ready to test good sir.

Great - okay, @Hibichifinal says he has a Myoungshin Fanta, so we’re covered for Kowal’s Fanta kit. Again the goal of the kit is to install the Fanta into a typical Fightstick that will accept a JLF mount. All will receive the rubber grommets for testing.

Ok sounds good…so will these be going out this week sometime then?

Hibal tested a modded Crown lever based on the specs of Kazuya player Crazy Dongpal. I guess Crown is continuing with their player approved levers. Not sure if this will come out though. http://hibal.tistory.com/m/post/796

It’s based on the Crown CWL-307ST but instead of the stock silicone grommet, it’s using the 309 Helpme version. To add to that, the lever is using Gersung switches and an actuator larger than the original 307. I don’t know if the actuator is sized similarly to the 307ST iteration but it seems closest to it.

While I would have to take out the silicone grommet from my modded Crown on my custom stick, I tried using similar specifications. From what I guess, Crazy Dongpal knew there could be improvement. With the combination of spare Gersung switches and the white actuator I have, I can see why. I get some weird input errors probably due to the actuator being relatively big though.

@jmanDMC will these be going out this week? Just curious and excited to test these grommets and kowal mounting plates…

Yes - all will ship to those I have addresses to by Friday.

So my Myoungshin stick. I had to open it up to mess with some stuff and after closing it up it seemed like I couldn’t hit the corners correctly, so I opened it up, spun the stick around a little, closed it and it performed as normal again. What could explain this? Does it need to be broken in because it’s rubber? Should I be hearing the rubber when I perform motions with the stick?

I don’t know what “normal” is for the stick and it’s not as if you can just ask anyone else.

My Myoungshin produces no noise other than from the switches when motions are performed on it.
However it occured with my Taeyoung and after about 5 months, the center hole of the rubber ring through which the shaft goes had been enlarged, leaving behind a very large deadzone where no hardness is felt and thus, no recentering whatsoever.

I constantly hear the rubber (or whatever it is) being sort of squeezed (or friction) on mine when inputting motions. I’ll have to record it in case this is a problem that needs fixing, hopefully show what I’m trying to explain…

Tried my best to show what I’m trying to explain.

I usually apply some silicone grease to the rubber and shaft of all the levers I get. I am sure that it will help with the noise and it allowes the lever to spin, too.

You might have turned to rubber upside down.

Haven’t tried the 309 yet sorry, when i say i tried all the different rubbers I meant Myoungshin soft, medium and hard rubber. I also have a custom rubber from Green arcade it’s a white silicone rubber it feels like something in between soft and medium, I love this rubber!

I wonder how common this is?

I noticed the same thing happened to one of mine once, I had it flipped up side down. Also the rubber usually have some sort of powder on them, if you touched it to much, that would remove the powder and make it squeak.

I never dismantled the stick. It’s possible I did rub the very bottom rubber part of the joystick while it was on my trousers. I feel dumb now. Can I put something on it to get it back to normal without having to buy an entirely new joystick?

EDIT:
Sorry was a quick response. I’ll order some silicone gel from my local arcade stick retailer and hope it works. Having to order from Korea for replacements is a hell in itself with the delivery times and customs.
