Received my own Golden Fanta set, from the third batch.
I don’t just like the Golden Fanta mod…I’m IN LOVE with it! Hot damn, the mod COMPLETELY alleviate all the sickening problems I had with diagonals on my Taeyoung Fanta lever in my eTokki Omni, so much to the point that it has turn using the Omni into a totally difference experience altogether! Diagonals gels PERFECTLY, and moves that I can’t consistently string together before, has opened up for me execution-wise.
I main Paul mostly at the moment in Tekken 7, and there is this combo that totally frustrate me in trying to execute, in practice and while playing online with all the lagginess that it puts you through:
I cannot for the life of me get this consistently done on my stock Taeyoung eTokki Omni, without actually wrestling with the controls itself. Lots of QCF, QCB and d/f executions and split-second timing, and this was made difficult by the fact that diagonals are freaking hard to register on the Gersung A2 and the stock grommet. Immediately changed the shaft with the second largest actuator in the Golden Fanta mod kit, and change the stock grommet (stiff af!) with Green 45 grommet, …screwed on a spare Razer Atrox battop I had lying around and, magic happens! Diagonals comes out the wazoo, every single circular and diagonal movements in Sample Combo 5 comes out nice and smooth without me having to strain myself pulling against the stock grommet previously. Then of course the mandatory KBDs, wavedashes and running dash moves, and I can easily do these faster than I was before, and not grow envious of videos of folks online I see doing these Mishima staples effortlessly while I’m struggling to do a string of them without curse words coming out of my mouth.
I’ve also installed the bottom switch support to keep things nice and tidy, and to hold the switches firmly in place as well.
After looking at the stock parts I’ve removed from the Taeyoung lever, I think I figured out what’s was wrong with it: …it’s not the stock A2 microswitches, I was doing Death Fist and backsway moves effortless after the mods are in place, … it’s not the stiff-af-grommet that’s hindering diagonals (although it does contribute to a certain degree of the inconsistencies, …it was the freaking ACTUATOR! I took look at the black lump of cylinder eTokki used as the actuator, and it looks uneven on the narrower end, and sliced off at an angle on the wider end! WTF! Even placing the wider end at the bottom to be the contact point for the hinge levers to the microswitches doesn’t help: it actuates the switches earlier no doubt, but the unevenness of the stock actuator makes hitting corner diagonals evenly unnecessarily challenging!
Out of curiosity, I also swapped the A3 switches from the 309MJ lever I had into the Taeyoung and see how it performs, seeing how much I LOVE the 309MJ’s performance with that switch, and I likes the stock A2 switches better than the A3, it felt like the A3 requires a stronger actuating force to click than the A2, and I’m starting to lapse back into missing diagonals, although not as bad as when everything was stock in the Omni/Taeyoung. Off the A3 switches go back into the 309MJ and back the A2 switches in.
I’m thoroughly impressed at how effective @wazwuz 's Golden Fanta mod has completely revived my Taeyoung Omni stick back to the point of being my favorite stick again, eclipsing the 309MJ. I’m open to other performance improvements (other better switches perhaps?), but at this point in time, as short an experience I have now with K-levers, my Taeyoung is king! Love it so much now! Thank you @wazwuz for bringing my Taeyoung Fanta back to life!
Damn, reading this and looking at my own new Taeyoung Fanta sitting on the table next to me unusued because I can’t hit diagonals on it makes me really envious.
It looks like I really need to find a way to get a good actuator for that thing
@Hassun You can get a myoungshin fanta and use the actuator from that. One problem with that solution though is the actuator is a little longer so it would need to be shaved down a little. Other solution is to get the golden fanta kit when it’s available.
Get it bro! the mod saves me from losing my mind over the shoddy diagonals. I played a couple of matches online just now, and a few close one of those matches, saved by a hair of life meter left, with Paul’s Rage Drive (QCF+1+2). Before this, it’s a guessing game of whether it could blurt out QCF+1+2 and hope it comes out as the Rage Drive, and not the f+1+2, because the lever doesn’t register a d/f properly and breaks the (d) and (f) execution as two separate moves.
Yeah I’m definitely not shaving anything down, maybe if you could buy actuators by themselves I would but that strangely doesn’t seem to be a thing in the arcade parts world.
If they are available and affordable I’m definitely interested.
@Hassun fair enough. Parts for korean joysticks are harder to come by compared to their Japanese counterparts. You can always message wazwuz and ask if he will sell the actuators individually.
after examing taeyong shaft. this is true. the taeyong shaft have shorter bottom part about 0.5mm than myoungshin. and this is taeyong error i think, since the shaft itself cannot spin at the center freely because the spoll+actuator got clip too tight. my sugestion is use myoungshin shaft + actuator will fix this issue.
The Taeyoung battop is probably the best part of the package though. Way better quality than the Myoungshin one.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but you can’t really remove the fanta battops from the shaft right? Would I then have to buy another type of battop to fit onto it?
Do your custom actuators fit on the Taeyoung fanta shaft/battop without issue?
I’m starting to feel like in order to fix both the Taeyoung and the Crown 309 I might have to get both of your golden kits but I’m not sure how much that’s going to cost me (including shipping to Europe).
Golden Fanta actuator will be too long about 0.5mm if installed into taeyoung shaft (Golden Fanta is design for myoungshin at first). but when you have golden kit, you will probably end up using golden shaft with sanwa battop (if you like taeyong battop you will love sanwa battop since it have the same mate textured finish)
Tried the crown sdl-301 last night and I’m having mixed emotions about it. Kbd on 1P and 2P is super easy and consistent but the throw feels super long which is very odd because the shaft size + shaft cover makes the fujin look like a toothpick. Doing instant run is peanuts on this thing and the speed is definitely there. Just feels very awkward to use because i think the battop sits a lot higher compared to my other levers. Going to measure the difference tonight if I get the chance and I’ll post it on here. Current set up is with Panasonic AM5’s and 45A grommet but still debating whether or not I like these switches better than A3s on this. Doing ewgfs/pewgfs on standstill they come out every single time but feel like my wave dashing is much slower. Zero issues whatsoever hitting diagonals with both Am5’s and A3’s. Pretty sure this lever will fit inside the etokki omni no problem but I’ll confirm this tonight as well for ppl that are curious about it. Build quality is top notch but removing 8 screws just to get to the microswitches is such a drag.
Definitely let me know if the Infiltration lever fits in the etokki.
As for my continuing saga with the fanta levers. Currently I have it set up like this: Taeyoung housing + grommet, Myoungshin lever + actuator (since the Taeyoung lever isn’t long enough) and the Gersun A2 switches.
This creates a pretty loose lever but one that hits the diagonals quite well.
Thanks for letting me know. Do you still have some of the golden sets left over (both Crown and Fanta)? And what would the price + shipping to Europe be?
@Hassun infiltration lever fits inside the onmi but the screws that come with the omni are too long. Either get shorter m4 screws to make it work or use washers or use a korean flat plate over the Japanese one.
One thing to give the taeyoung with myoungshin shaft a tighter fit is to use a sanwa jlf shaft(if u happen to have one lying around) with a clear sanwa LB-30N- CW battop. Keep in mind the clear battop bottom sits flush to the shaft so it will sit a little higher up than stock fanta. This isn’t really a big deal because the jlf shaft is a lot shorter than the taeyoung/myoungshin’s shaft. With the other sanwa battops which are red, light blue, black and white the height of the stick will be way to low since it screws past the bottom area into the shaft.
For those who wait Golden Fanta retail version, Now we have it in stock.
For Retail version I decide to add most requested 15mm actuator, since Taeyong have closer switch arrangement this will benefit taeyong user.
you can order it from here http://arcadestick-indonesia.com/#performancemod
Hi @wazwuz, I’m interested in purchasing the Golden Fanta set for my Omni Etokki.
Are you able to ship to the UK?
If yes, do you know the cost of shipping?
Thanks in advance.
