mehwoonkimchi, even if no one from these boards shows up, chances are, you’ll find some decent competition at isu on sat night. if you can speak korean, even better. most of the players are really nice if you actually talk to them.
won’t find poongko there though, i think he’s in the states for the world tournament this weekend?
with that said, i’m still a maybe for friday night. actually, i’m a maybe for any night this weekend. isu is on the way home from school for me and its only like 20 minutes away from home so i have a tendency to randomly drop by on the way home at like 9 or 10pm for a few games.
aite thats koo…yea i’m a gyopo so, i can hold a conversation. What time do these arcades usually close?..since i work at a hagwon, i get off pretty late.

as you all have probably heard/seen by now, poongko didn’t win any matches in the exhibition. everyone was ragging on his defense (or lack thereof) since day one, and right up until the night before the matches. they shut him down pretty well, and i barely got to see him rush down.
but despite him losing, everyone there really enjoyed watching him. it was hype, no matter who won or lost. they booked the biggest venue on the north(?) dock of frisco, and it was pretty full. you can’t really hear it in the video for some reason, but everyone went nuts every time something exciting happened.
i will add my own two cents though. i think it’s wack that capcom and gamestop didn’t bring in real machines for the matches. i think most people will agree that many people can’t perform 100% with a stick on their lap or table. i can maybe understand evo doing it that way, since it’s not run by capcom, and we’re not in japan… but this particular event was different.
second and lastly, i felt a little bad for poongko that he had to go first. i think he might have performed a little better if he got to go later, even if he still would have lost in the end. but oh well.
anyway, they had some cool free gear, and i personally got a :qcf::p: hat which looks realllllly good. they also had a green dhalsim yoga school shirt and a red bison power plant shirt, but i didn’t get my hands on them. =\

im a typical slim korean dude…went to isu around sat afternoon didnt see any foreigners…but i got my ass kicked by a balrog player that i think i couldve beaten if i had a pad…(sry im a pad user)…i guess i should start practicin on a stick

i don’t have a stick right now for my 360, so i’ve been working with pad for a month.
there are some combos i can’t pull off consistently on pad. but that’s cool, cuz i’m going to get a stick eventually.
but the scary part is, i’m finding that there’s shit that’s actually easier for me on pad…

lol hey tao. i’m a big korean dude 6’1 240. i’ll be teaching at a private academy at gwanju which i think is like 3 hours away. i’ll be coming to seoul every weekend though since i got a cousin up there willing to house me.
i think it’s definitely a good time to do this if you just lost your job in the states. But i do have lots of family out there making the decision earier.
