Konami ceases triple-A console production on all but PES

Well, I’ll always remember you fondly, SNES konami intro.

dude the days when MH4U came out was godlike

Half of the buses i’d get on would have one or more playing it. You could completely blindside a dude with your 3DS and they’d be like “the fuck man-//- YO YOU GOT MH LES GO”

Handhelds are huge in Japan. Take a look a Japanese sells chart and you’ll see it’s made up of mostly 3DS and occasional Vita games. Major Japanese companies have developer major games because of this. Dragon Quest IX was released on the DS and not a major console. Monster Hunter and Ace Attonery are among Capcom’s biggest franchises and they are primary released on handhelds. Capcom gotta port Resident Evil Revelations 2 on the Vita soon. Kojima made a mainline MGS game for the PSP. To say no company made a game seriously for a handheld is all kinds of wrong. That’s only true for Western companies. They don’t give a shit for handhelds.

Hes talking about phones, no one has made a true, serious stab at mobil phones.

And they never will, because its cheaper to half-ass it, and F2P model that shit.

Eh, omeone will, someday. I dunno if it will be Konami, hell i highly doubt it will be Konami, but someone will take an honest stab at it someday. I really SE already does with their Final Fantasy releases, those are console experience tailered to the phone interface, they just charge way too much for the majority of them, im personally not of the kind to pay 15 bucks for a GBA port with touch controls. I wouldnt be against that for a whole new product of the same quality tho.

Hell id pay for Solomons Keep if it was fully fleshed out with loot drops, gear, and more dungeon pallets. I did pay for Hot Springs story on my old ipod touch and it was worth every penny, i got hours and hours out of that game, ive even debated buying it again for my android phone. Its not hard to make a worthwhile product for phones, and eventually people are going to start treating it as more then a platform for shovelware.

I thought the Infinity Blade games were the “AAA” of the mobile market.

I played Infinity Blade 1 on my iPod. It was alright. Nice little time waster, but not much more honestly. Dunno about any of it’s sequels.

Green laser is the best 16-bit intro.

SNES version of this >>>>>> Genesis

Ya’ll the most off topic blue haired goon ninjas

What have you been smokin to take DonkeymonkeyCrap other games into a topic for another company

So I had a pic of a brother doing this super saiyan level hair way better, once.

Hudson was acquired? Damn. R.I.P. 5656 Bomberman code.

for starters if the NX is going to be a real console they need to release it with the same power and features as the competition, “at the least”, plus offer something new the other 2 don’t have.

continue to work with 3rd parties and rebuild the nintendo network to play online in addition make it “free” from lunch. That right there will positioned them on advantage.

another option is to redesign all their big franchises like metroid, zelda and mario in particular who I have grown to dislike after super mario 64. They need to wipe out that kiddy image,be more open with outside developers and make the console more diversify with games. Talk to companies bring all kinds of games no restrictions.

remove region lock

Better marketing

Develop new IPs and resuscitate old ones

…of course this will never happen.

After playing the first hour or so of MGS5, all I can do is wonder what Silent Hills could have been. It will be the Jodorowsky’s Dune of videogames.

This sad motherfucker was in his room playing JRPG grindfest #1930 on his snes by himself while just outside his window all the minorities were playing co-op on Genesis.

Konami was dead to me the instant they unveiled Castlevania Pachinko.

SNES has the superior version of TMNT

The problem is that, at least in the App Store, it’s a race to the bottom. Devs HAVE to do the f2p thing if they want to make more than a pittance because it’s at a point where consumers are like “Really, it’s $1.99? I’ll just wait till it goes on sale.” Plus, it’s been shown that F2P is better for the devs because rather than the transaction ending with the initial purchase, some players will keep spending. Granted not everyone will, but the people who spend more will pay for the people who don’t, and even if you don’t have as many people spending, you at least have the metrics of downloads and people playing the game to be able to tout to any potential investors if that’s the route you’re going.

I don’t like F2P but I understand why it works the way it does and why devs choose it over having people pay outright.

That said, there are some excellent original mobile games out there, some decent ports, and I think that the fact that games can be developed for much much less than some big console “masterpiece” is something that’s going to be good for the industry. The mobile game market is really in its infancy and we could see some really fantastic shit happen especially now that phones are more powerful than consoles. The trajectory the console market is on is unsustainable and if anything, mobile seems to be a possible antidote to that.

Tournament Fighters

and

Turtles in Time

Nope, that title belongs to TMNT:Manhattan Missions for MS-DOS. It was closer to the original comic and movie

Sigh… if only kojima had the rights to his own creation. Mgs6 would have been godlike, playing as none other than…The fucking patriots themselves as well as big boss.

So apparently Konami will be continuing “AAA” game dev
