imho, SoR 2 is hands down 16-bit king of beat 'em ups (better than final fight) because the soundtrack is fuckin gdlk, animation is ott and the character selection was just right. TMNT turtles in time was okay but still… lacking to say the least.
I think Konami’s description of themselves is some yakuza type shit.
“Digital Entertainment”
Also, Turtles in Time is mediocre at best. The presentation in the ARC version is top tier though, so if you grew up a huge TMNT fan it probably blew your mind at the time. The Simpsons beat’em up is moree technical and a lot more fun to co-op with homies.
Played through much of the game, and majority of it is recycled to hell. As fun as the combat is and the amount of options they give you, it doesn’t mean shit if the AI is retarded and you’re practically doing the same 6 or so sidequests.
Too few actual bases, much of the guard posts are more or less the same. Shits depressing. The game feels more like a expansive demo to me. Yes i’m talking about TPP, everything feels diluted as hell. Even for a open world game. Was hoping that this wouldn’t be the case as soon as I get past the Afghanistan map but that didn’t do much at all.
Motherfuck no. This turning on Kojima/TPP shit is dumb. Even with a sparse story it is STILL the BEST Metal Gear ever created in terms of stealth gameplay. The only thing that is technically close is Ground Zeroes (revisionists/hindsight niggas are now arguing GZ is better because of it’s level design).
You motherfuckers claim to be all about the gameplay and if it’s fun, then you goofy fucks get 100 hours of truly edge of your seat dopeness and an M Night Shamalan ending is all it takes to turn against it? If this game is “filler” it’s the most fun goddamn filler ever put into a videogame
Lords Of Shadow 2 was the same way. I played the demo (which was the first level, AWESOME stuff) endlessly, then when I got the game, for the most part I was like, “What did they do?”
Hell fucking no, you want a good example of meaningful content in a open world game with good combat, you look at Dragon’s dogma.
I ain’t disrespecting Kojima on this because clearly he didn’t have enough time to put in the stuff he needed to in the game. It’s depressing because this game would have been exponentially better than this if it wasn’t rushed out. Spending 100 hours trying to find more unique side quests after going through 50-80 or so “rescue prisoner/take out armored vehicle or soldier/clear mine field/capture skilled solider etc…” isn’t worth my time.
I got better games to play, at the very least I have some confidence in MGO3 when it comes around on PC. The core combat will actually get some use there.
Game play and story go hand in hand of you’re a story-driven series like MGS is. The gameplay is great but so what? I need an overall goal to achieve or it might as well be Tetris. Phantom pain just completely fucked up the story, something many of us have been following for decades, and it cannot be excused.
You might have had fun mindlessly completing missions with no overarching goal in mind, but many of us didn’t. We wanted all main missions to have purpose, to drive the story of Big Boss and why he became an asshole, and this game failed to deliver. And no, I don’t consider text after you finish delivering. For that, release a book and save me $45 dollars and hours of playing time.
