Konami ceases triple-A console production on all but PES

At least Castlevania will live on through its crowd funded spiritual successor, but Silent Hill doesn’t get shit.
I hope Konami won’t fall so bad that they get bought out like SNK did, that would be tragic.

The roof! The roof! The roof is on fire! We don’t need no water, let that mother fucker burn!!

Is there an easier way to make money than this shit?

Tune the system to rarely pay out(Or drop balls in this case tee-hee), sit back, and fucking eat.

To be fair, pachinko is actually kind of fun. lol

Hyperstone Heist is harder with longer levels. Not that it matters Streets of Rage 2 is the godking of 16-bit beat’em ups. Final Fight characters are still cool as fuck and when they show up in SF you should main them.

Metroidvania isn’t real castlevania. IGA fanboys are the worst.

I bought Ground Zeroes just for the Portable Ops/MSF sneaking suit it gets you in MGSV. GZ has a distinct different kind of polish. I swear shit like the anti-aliasing in the game is much better than in V. Obivously V has better UI.

I just completed every side op and mission in V, just going back to do mission tasks and beating the repeat missions. I have a lot more sympathy for Konami (in regards to Metal Gear) now than before and I’ve always been way more into the idea of a MGS without Kojima at the helm(Portable Ops’ story shits all over Kojima’s bullshit and he knows it too that’s why in “his” timeline it doesn’t exist). 80 million, 5 years and Kojima only got this far along with the game’s plotlines? Pretty sure he went to them and said “Koji Pro needs more delays, we want holiday 2016” or some shit and Konami poo poo’d him out of the building. Dudes can lie to themselves and say Koji Pro was developing the FOX engine all that time but Konami had entire buildings of their staff working together to get that shit done. PES devs most likely did most of the legwork to get their games out in time.

I agree that IGAvania’s aren’t real Castlevania’s, but seriously disagree that SoR2 is the best Beat em up of the 16 bit era.

That shit belongs to TiT

Im not too familiar with Castlevania as I’ve only played some of Portrait of ruin? The one where the MC is Soma, not sure if I got the title right. And i got Dracula X Chronicles on psp.

What makes Iga games not real Castlevania? Idk which ones he worked on so Im just confused because from the kickstarter i thought he was the founding father of the series

Iga’s Castlevanias are the ones that play Metroid games with RPG mechanics, so a big open 2D world to explore. Also the 3D ones starting with the PS2 game Lament of Innocence. That’s another good way to tell, his games tend to have Blank of Blank titles. Symphony of the Night. Lament of Innocence. Order of Ecclesia, Curse of Darkness, so on and so fourth.

Before he took over Castlevania games where like the Dracula X games you have for your PSP. They are level based, have minimal exploring, no RPG mechanics and tend to be really tough platformers. That’s another thing that really separates Igarashi’s games from the CV games of old, his games tend to be easy in a series that really defined itself by being tough and punishing. The old CV games on NES wouldn’t let you change your jump arc in mid air for example so you where committed to your jumps. Fuck it up and your going right down that bottomless pit. Iga games don’t even have bottomless pits lol.

Other signatures of Igarashi Castlevania games is artwork done by Ayami Kojima artwork

These examples are a small sampling of the over all collaborative work these 3 people have done over the years.

I think Igarashi is distinct in the video game development world because he is a fanboy who got to work on his favorite series. He became involved in CV with Rondo of Blood (The original version that is included with your Dracula X collection) and pretty much took over the series with Symphony of the Night. I both really really like Igarashi, and really really dislike Igarashi. I think he has tons of good ideas, I like how much of a team player he is when it comes to his development teams (So much of SOTN is there because someone on the team just felt like it and he decided it was worth keeping) and I like how dedicated to his fanbase and style he is.

Things I dislike tho is that he doesn’t have much in the way of new ideas. He tends to instead tweek his existing formula. I think he’s pretty fuckin bad at making balanced games, his RPG mechanics tend to make his games front loaded with difficulty, the hardest part of SOTN is the very beginning when your weak as fuck and have shit equipment, but not too long into the game and your pretty damn strong, and it’s fucking hard for anything to kill you. And that’s how the majority of his games work. Tough in the beginning but by the end so easy it’s almost boring. A lot of the equipment in his games tends to be pretty useless to, which sucks because they tend to go out of their way to make all the equipment unique and interesting.

I like his stuff enough tho that I am pretty hype for Bloodstained. It should be noted that after SOTN, he never got to make another SOTN like game on a console, and that game, despite it’s flaws it really pretty fuckin great, so I’m really looking forward to seeing him flex with this type of game on a console again. Should be pretty great.

IGA didn’t take over with SotN. He was assistant director on SotN. He took over with Chronicles.

I said pretty much. It’s clear he has a really heavy hand in SOTN. His mark is all over it.

Its so sad that game companies are spending so much money on crappy marketing schemes and focus groups and shit. Games cost a stupid amount to make and with shareholders overseeing game creation we get the same bs that can be produced annually with a shit ton of cut content DLC

Im sad to hear the news about Konami, but maybe Kojima can do something new now that he is free. Im sure he has proved his worth.

Too bad Castlevainia is gone now

To be fair, the old CV games were hard because they were short like most NES/SNES era games, so I wouldn’t say difficulty is a trademark for the classic CV games when hard games were essentially the norm back then.

I just got the part in Ground Zeroes Deja Vu where you get the flashlight and I pointed it at Metal Gear Rising.

“Looks like that’s nothing special.”

Kojima’s head is eternally lodged up his asshole.

GZ’s original music doesn’t make any sort of appearance in MGSV from what I know. Which is a shame.

Didnt even carry over Beyond the Bounds from GZ to TPP, like wtf lol.

I’d rather a short, fun, hard game than a long, drawn out list of autopilot chores.
