KOF'98 or KOF'02?

2k2 all the way.

My question to someone asking this would be SF or BB?

If SF- 98
If BB- 2k2

98 rewards a more SFish mentality, while 2k2 rewards a more Arc-mentality.

2k2 too all the way but 98 is good as well ahh 98 its a pretty damn good game

  1. I like the big damage from simple® combos over the ridiculous max mode or whateverthefuck that flashing yellow cancel mode shit was in 2k2.

World Heroes

98, so long it’s UM. I gotta have Eiji and Mr.Big.

2k2:um

Both games are fun though I enjoy playing 2k2 more for some reason. 98 is very solid though and fun to play.

both games are good and different

I play 98 more now because I want to work more on the fundamentals

KOF98 UM.

Bread and Butter FTW.

98 atw

98

They’re both great games, but I choose 98 because thats the one I grew up with and have a better understanding of.

I like 2002 way better, K9999/Kusanagi/K’ ftw

I borderline hate 98, I pretty much dislike most KOFs but 2002 holds a special place in my heart. 2002 UM is the devil for getting rid of my boy K9999 and replacing him with Jio Freed and Lars Alexanderson’s lovechild.

You do realize the original 02 is on 02:UM

I’d have to say 2k2 um

2k2 has Vanessa. Thefore it’s a better game.

Not a big KoF player, but I feel that 98’s graphics didn’t age that well, while 2k2 is still very bearable. Also like the comboing in 2k2 quite a bit more.

But mostly I just like 2k2 because it has Vanessa, and Angel and K9999 too, which I consider pretty damn cool characters looks-wise.

I’m a Street Fighter guy, mainly third strike, and I don’t play King of Fighters at all but I do collect them because I like fighting games.

When I go to the arcades like Southern Hills Golfland before and Arcade Infinity today, there is always a dedicated following to King of Fighters 98. There would always be a constant rotation to this game. Even in FFA there was a time recently when people just played it all night. Even though I don’t know what the hell is going on I always some times watch these guys play because I’m fascinated by their dedication. This does not just happen in one arcade but several I went to.

So what is it about 98 that has such a lasting impression on players? Generally speaking.

2K2 was the better game in my opinion. The fighting system felt better. The cast was better. The music was better. I like 98 but I felt that 2K2 was the more enjoyable game.

I agree to this.

Wait… what?
