KOF2K2: Back in SA

I do a lot of practicing on my Dreamcast
becuase the Golfland that has KOF 2k2
the controls are all fucked up, But Im
lookin forward in getting the XBOX version
in October.

Maybe it’d help if we posted our teams, or any that we are trying to use. To start, I need some advice on making my team better.

Kyo, Iori, Orochi Yashiro, Chris, and Athena.

Any advice is much appreciated.

i dont really play this but can handle my own. my teams are.

terry, angel, clark
terry, angel, joe
terry, daimon, whip
terry, joe, seth

about goro… he is not like 2k3 at all. you cant combo nothing into his grabs… from what i have tried and all of the japs tourney vids ive seen. to me he blows but he still has his normal pokes that are good which chester named a few. you can his s.D i believe.

but if this shows as much potential in SA like i did before then i will practice

didnt even notice this thread till anthony told me first and last post latas

Yah i want to learn the poking game real good like my teacher (NinMai). I know mastering the poke w/ K’ and Joe will make me a top competitor.

Spin4u:
For Daimon, you can still combo his grabs from close s.C or s.D. You just have to be really close. Since the range of throws is different in 2002 than 2003, it’s a little more difficult to connect.

With Terry, I always try to rush down using c.B -> df+C -> Burning Knuckle or Crack Shot (weak). Then, small jump alot using either his D or CD. Throw out a Power Wave every now a then to keep your oppenent guessing, then go back to either rush down or small jump CD. I did this on Juan, while we were playing and I knocked out 2 of his guys (it was random vs. random, but besides that.)

plaer_dos:
Poking is an effective technique that can chip of damage, lead to guard breaks, and just frustrate an opponent that can’t get inside, if used the right way. It makes pulling out your combos a little easier to start and connect, since it makes them not as aggresive.

I finally remember the way I played K’. I ususlly rush in with s.A or c.B. If those connect, combo in his Eins Trigger

c.B -> c.A -> Eins Trigger (C version)

Depending on where they are after the trigger, you can choose to follow-up or not. Also, I remembered about Triggers from far away that you can use to confuse someone. And I still use the sweep buffers into either trigger or blackout.

I have to make my bread and butter combo for K’. Now all i need is To learn some decent max combos for Kim. I already now some basic ones i learned 2k3.

After seeing Ralfs new outfit in KOF: MI I wanted to learn him in 2k2. any strats? Is he meant to be played like a grappler or a pressure character? I leanrd with 2k3 to use d.C and his is nutz! i know after that you can go in his tackle super then Galatica Phantom before they get up, it works llike O.Yashiros Hidden. Any Help would be appreciated!

Have yall played Prodigy? (Its what all the best mexican players in SA call him.)

14 year old hispanic kid? Uses K, Maxima, and mixes with Whip, Mai, Chris, Leona, Shermie, Iori, and Joe. I remember he was beating down everybody @ Culebra, than after like 7 tries, one guy knocked him off. It was funny cause the kid was using K’s super (where he throws the glasses at you) and this one guy told the guy playing (i think the guy playing was named Gene?) “I cant believe you got hit by that.” The guy plays and he ends up getting raped and hit with Ks special. Ive seen him other times @ San Pedros and Military, and the kid had streaks in the 30s. All the best mexican players in SA (Omakun, Efrain, Enriq) know him, cause Prodigy beats them all.

Yall play @ Culebra right? From what im told by most of the KoF players, the best players are at the Military D’s, but they go to Culebra on occasion. You can find Prodigy there at Military on the weekends.

Do any of yall know him?

I think i have heard of him? I am not sure though…

Culebra is best place for Compitition, tell everyone good to go there. We have the best machine in general! The best that I’ve seen is Gene, Juan, and Jose. There isn’t a non-regular there that we don’t beat, so tell them to come over, it’d be fun!

I found him. He said he has beaten all that you have mentioned. He told me he will only do money matches and will use all random. $150 per match. Any takers?

Sorry to disappoint this so-called kind person, but if he needs money-matches to prove to people how “great” he is, then it’s not something wrorthwile to undertake…

-NinjMai

150 sounds a little steep for a money match

Its a big risk for both players i think, but when youre that good, youll risk that much.

He said hell play yall, but he goes to military Ds on saturday nights. He goes to other diversions at random times.

This is Prodigy:

If you are Gene, you were one of my first victims when i started playin the game for two weeks. It took you many tries to beat me. I did not know Mais crossup back then, and i lost to it fair and square. But i have come up, and Cluebra has no one. All the best players are at military. You can find me there. I know all best mexican players in SA, and i can beat some of the best in mexico.

Remember, the good players seek the competition, not teh other way around. You are only as good as your competition. I respect people who go around all across town to play different competition to make themselves better. I do not respects players who do not wish to leave their own arcade to play outside competition and claim to be great player. This is retarded logic. I went to Culebra, San Pedros, and even PB before it closed. Only some really good KoF players here in San antonio travel… Most do not…

When you are confident in your own skill, you will risk alot to show your worth. I have lost money matches before, but i win most. If you are not confident, dont bother with betting money as you probably know you are not that good and/or not confident in your own skills.

To make you feel better of your skill, i will go as low as $30 per match, i will use all 3 random chars, any KoF. I do not play in tourney here in San antonio cause the pay out is not good. I play tournments in mexico, where turnouts are big. (70-80 regularly per tournament, and prize is cash, not shitty otaku prizes)

I am not disapointed by this. I am disapointed people do not seek better competition. I have traveled across San antonio seeking comp, to get better when i first stated. You do not travel, you will always limit yourself and your skill. Remember that…

I will gladly lose money in a money match if the competition is that good. I will not complain, and will admit who is the better player. Although i am confident, i am human, and can lose. If other players are as confident, i know they will feel the same way. Games are strictly for entertainment, and good competition is a form of it. If you arent willing to risk, then you have no confidence in your skill.

Complain, bitch, say im not worth it, flame me, call it what you want, i really do not care and it wont bother me at all. If anything, i will laugh at your post. I am telling it straight, and the real players will agree with me on alot of points. Not all of them, but most.

allright dude calm down a bit there

This is Prodigy.

I am not angry. Just making a point, thats all.

Well, it does hold some resolve in my spirit that my posts might entertain you, “kind” person, but your vulgarity is not necessary.

Yeah, it bothers me when people have the audacity to use “money” as an instigation for skill. It fouls the underlying reason why people play games (and no, contrary to popular belief, it’s NOT to get better).

If you are confident in your skill, then more power to you. I am proud that people on this Earth have more self-confidence than I do, but spare me the “victim” nonsense. If nothing else, it only shows your bravado and lack of humility toward others.

I agree that good players do seek competition, but that in itself does not embody the soul purpose in games. Yeah, they’re for entertainment, but it is more than that. Playing games teaches you about human behavior and allows you to meet others. You can teach one another and learn from one another…

I really am not out to prove myself to anyone. I’m happy where I am, good or bad because I do not rely on materialistic money to satisfy my gamer’s edge…

I’m sorry that I can’t say the same for you, “kind” person…

If any moderators do encounter this and feel any action to take, then close the thread. I’m sorry about bringing up the matter more than it should have been, and I’ll accept any repercussions because of it.

I’m not one to sit back and let someone’s egotistical attitude overrun the true reason for this thread, but whatever happens will happen, I guess…

Again, I’m sorry for dragging this further than it should have been…

This is Prodigy.

You obviously didnt get the point of my post. Go back, read again.
Especially last paragraph. “Instigate.” What a silly word. The mexican players arent afraid to bet.

kthxbye GGPO

Well, it makes sense that you laugh at words that are going to be a part of your future…

Such belittling attitude from someone young. With experience should come maturity, not cockiness, but times change pretty fast. I really don’t understand the necessity for the overconfidence. If nothing else, your skill must instill SOME degree of humility and empathy, some desire to help others instead of using them as trophies.

Like I said, it does strike me as both intriguing and disturbing to know that you find your solace in cash. What is sadder is that I used to be close to the same way as you are, “kind” person.

I do thank you, though. I now understand that there is another side to the arcade world, a side composed of gaming grim reapers seeking their personal glory through the metaphorical and financial bloodshed of others.

And I thought that I was doing the world a service by passing on what knowledge I had…

Such is the darkest night, I guess.
