His combos are fairly hard. He can combo C, f+A into Dm as well but it is pretty difficult. As for stats, his jump C and f+A are great things to abuse. If they ever block your C though, it is probably better to do qcf+A (for chip damage) than f+A. Both qcf+A and f+A have very good recovery. He has some other fairly good attack strings. For example, C, qcb+B, qcf+A. You can also try C, qcb+D, C, qcb+B, qcf+A, and other variations of these attack strings. He has good mixups. In maxmode, close stand D(ovherhead), cancel to crouch D slide(low), then cancel to qcb+D(overhead). Unless you’re fighting a noob that dps everything they see (or don’t see), the opponent should have some trouble blocking these attack strings. If that stand D hits, you have a knockdown(which is great for more mindgames). If the crouch D hits, you can combo into dp+A, dp+C and continue the combo from there (listed under Max Mode Activation). If the qcb+D hits, then you can do C, f+A, SDM combo.

How good/bad is maxima in 02?

He is real good, but if anyone should tell or give you advice on maxima, is hould be ray, better known as lost thought. So wait for him to see this message and i am sure he will reply right away.

his jp+C is a crossover

f+a overhead try to use it on certain occasions say unrollable moves maxima revenger plus u can do a maxima revenger if u hit the over hear so thats good. Also on this move when u combo it from D the overhead is canceled but theres a way to still make the f+A an overhead hit begin the combo with stabding D then f+A but heres the thing wait till the move is about to reecover and u’ll do the f+A and it becomes an overhead notice your opponent is still in block animation so then u connect he overhead then u know what that means maxima revenger haha
its not easy u should try out first or i’ll play u online just to show u tricky.once u get it use it

then he’s got the df_c an uppercut type move use this alot since its gonna be a hassle if u don’t need to keep your oppoents grounded plus u can Quick Emergency Evade AB during your own attack so u df+c then quick evade then f,d,df+D and catch them in the air alot of damage.Or u can once u recover from your move do a vapour cannon to hit them in the air only if u counter hit them.This will happen alot if u use this move accordingly this move will save u and help u threw out the match.

vapour cannon try to use it only on certain occasions or even better if u know your opponents starts because if u miss u will be punished, but if u get the counter hit sweet and do another one when the wire back or if once u get up to speed run in while in the air do df+C, then f,d,df+D (no need to quick evade) and the damage is horrible only half hahahaha.

Also for agrressive purposes the best jump in attack imo is short jump or super short jump A its an angled ttack fast real useful against ppl who jump alot and this move can interupt most moves even supers plus u can follow it up with cr.A then the System 1: Maxima Scramble
qcf+A etc or try to cancel of the second hit.

You should have reread your post and fixed it, because it’s way too hard to read.

About vapour cannon, you’ll only get punished if the opponent was already jumping, or he was extremely close to you. Otherwise, it is relatively safe to spam vapour cannons from a distance. And those end up hitting so many people anyways, usually for counterhit.

I don’t know why you use stand D either, as it’s really slow. Stand C is way faster (both have autoguard though).I don’t think you can even combo stand D from a jumpin. For jumpins, I mainly use jump C for air to ground, because it seems to beat out all sorts of dps and other stuff (and it crosses up). jump CD for air to air battles seems to win everytime for me. My favourite and most damaging ground combo is jump C(crossup), C, f+A, qcf+Ax2, hcbx2+K super cancel.

ok awesome. I kind of like spamming out vapour cannons and I do like his short jump A. I’ll pm you here in a bit for more info regarding to KoF 02 and MAXIMA.

yeah sorry i know i’m horrible in typing don’t get me wrong i hate it thats why i rather show u online than writing them out the thing is with his standing d is its not a good follow up after a a jump in attack thats why i didn’t mention it the thing is u can do a close standing D then at almost the last frames of the move do f+A which infacts becomes an over head yes i know u can’t f+a fram a follow up and cancels its overhead properties well this case if u do it with standing D then the the follow up f+A becomes on overhead. try it practice it put crouch guard on the dummy and check it out.

As for jumping C no i don’t use it like u do i use it more as a crossover than being aggressive thats why i use a or high jump D not short jump D because both attacks r deep and can penetrate any attack as for the C attack i don’t because it doesn’t hold the properties u think it has theres alittle thing to his jump C thats not effective slow start up and it doesn’t hit instantly so it can be taken out rather easily imo. well blah blah blah

yeah i forgot to mention that about the vapour cannon like i said bad at typing, but also thats why i said to do it from certain occasions or even better if u know your opponents. Sorry for all the nonsence but hey the guys in this tread will back me up on my Maxima they know i use him effectively and good. And once again u know bad typing haha

Can anyone give me any strats for Neowave Young Geese and King?

geese is easy too figure out int neowave, start by trying to pressure your opponent with CD cancel into fireball with A, space your self good and then from there on its gets easier trust me; As for king if you use the first groove then one real good basic combo with good damage, do the hcf C,cancel into hcb c, canel into hcb B, try using her single firebal as much as possible, space yourself out and make your opponent play your way by doing single fireball, into double fireball then follow that with a hcb B cause there most like going to jump if they dont thats cool just do down B, after the hcb B to tap your opponent out of whatever he is going to do. Also use her jumping CD its got alot of fucking priority

I’m new to this game. Bought it this week in fact. I have several questions.

I noticed in videos how in the middle of a combo, they activate MAX mode and then still continue the combo. Is there a trick to this or do you just need to input the combo right after activating?

Also, is there any one-stop place for all good strats and other good info? I tried GameFAQs but it wasn’t helpful enough. For example, I wanted to know all I can about Angel and Vanessa. I noticed that there’s a whole lot you could do with Angel but the sheer amount of things you can do is overwhelming. Is there like a B&B I should be aware of? How about her best combos? And then there’s Vanessa too.

Basically, ANY information (I would like to know as much as possible) about Angel and Vanessa would be great. Reason I picked Angel was cause that video of nosaka totally beasting with Angel. She looked fun. Vanessa was cool to begin with.

You can cancel any normal or command move (like f+A, df+B, etc), into maxmode, which reduces it’s recovery time to nothing. For example, with Vanessa’s long combos, they begin with this usually: C, f+A(1 hit), activate maxmode, walk up C, f+A, hcf+P, qcf+B (then repeat C, f+A, hcf+P, qcf+B). Since maxmode lets you cancel outof the move with no recovery time, you can walk/run up and continue the combo. Some characters have it easier. For example, I think doing a BC combo with Kensou is fairly hard, while Vice’s is probably the easiest(D, BC, D, SDM). The good thing about this maxmode activation in between combos is that it lets you do big combos off overheads and slides, which aren’t cancellable normally.

Gamefaqs is useless besides getting a movelist. You should read the previous kof2k2 thread (this is just a continuation of a larger thread, you’ll have to check a few pages back for it). Angel is a very non-noob friendly character. Most beginners that start with Angel just end up button mashing…I wouldn’t recommend her.

Anywhere:

  1. C/D, f+B, rdp+K, hcb+K - 30%
  2. C, f+B(1), df+B, d+P, qcf+C/b dp+P/AC - 33%/50%/60%
  3. Crouch B, A, b f+K, d+P, f f+A, hcb+K - 30%

Corner:

  1. qcb+P, u+K, d+P(miss), f+K, u+P, f f+C - 35%
  2. C/D, f+B(1), df+B, d+P, f+K, qcf+C/b dp+P - 40%/55%
  3. C/D, b f+K, d+P, f f+A, qcb+P u+P f f+A(infinite), qcb+P uf+P f f+C - 50%
  4. Crouch C, df+D(miss), f+P, u+K, f f+C - 30%

Max Mode Activation:

  1. D, f+B, BC, D, f+B, df+K, d+P, b dp+AC - 75%

I wouldn’t recommend learning the infinite, too hard to do in a match. And the above combos are just optimized for the most damage based on stock usage. She has an almost endless amount of combos, but many that aren’t too damaging. I didn’t list impractical combos such as repeating her chain moves from hcf+K which is quite difficult to do.

If theres anyone in this forum that can help with angel info, thats ozshinji so i’ll just let him handle that.

One thing that has been bothering me was in the nosaka video, in the corner…

some UC combo, f f+A

Now the person is launched. Then he does some move right back into the f f+A. Then he finishes off with C+D. Now I know that you’re supposed to do some UC Start move before you can pull off the finisher, but what? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I can try and upload the video to people via AIM. PM me.

Yes, that is the hcf+K trick I talked about. It is hard to do but basically, you can cancel hcf+D into a chain move like f+P/K, u+P/K, etc. After this, you cancel to hcf+D again…and then into another move. This trick can also be done with qcb+P but here, you must do the next move (u+P, for example) immediately after qcb+P, such that you don’t see the qcb+P animation at all.This lets you do something like qcb+P, u+P, f f+A infinites in the corner. It’s not practical though.

I don’t know who this Nosaka guy is though, I’d like that video (I might have seen it already though).

I’m sure most of you who play Angel know how to do what Emil described, but I want to contribute my 2 cents.

In order to cancel the qcb+P into some chain move, you have to tiger knee the motion. What I do is go: d, db, b, ub. Now I hit C and A in quick succession. But what got me confused is that I hit the A RIGHT AFTER the C and that doesn’t seem to work too well. Instead, there’s a very small gap between the C and A. The way I try to visualize is that right when the joystick hits between db & b, I will hit C. Right when the stick hits ub, I hit A.

It took me a while to get it consistently. I can only do it facing left consistently. My hand starts acting funny when I try to do it facing right.

To me personally, angel is one of the hardest player in kof to learn, you have to be very patient with her, it took me nearly two months to learn what i know which is basically crap, however i have been able to do the following; in the corner,hcb C, fwrd B, hcbup C,hcbup C. if have been able to do this then congratulations, but if not then try it, its pretty tough. And thats as much as I can help.

I recenty started to practice with angel and all i got to say something she. Is hard as hell to uses but if you managage to uses her well congarations on that cause it taking me a while to get the cancel offs the hcf k but iam starting to get there l can do the infinite a few times like 5 to 6 but its hard as hell l do qcb a than do u,a than do ff a and then rinse and repeat.
