I don’t know much about MI but from what little I have seen, I think the original characters were horribly designed and the redesigns for similarly bad. Let’s keep that God awful mess far away from XIV pls and thank you
They’ve used “romantic” relationships between characters as a source of comedy. Look at the AOF endings in XI and XIII, or at Andy’s RBFF2 ending, Ramon pursuing Vanessa, or even Clark grabbing a girl (or K’) and running only to be chased by their love interest (or Maxima) during 02’s credit gags. Andy and Mai are the only characters that have developed in that respect. On that note, has Yuki broken up with Kyo yet, or vice versa. I recall her being his high school sweetheart, but we haven’t seen her in ages.
You don’t wanna see a grown up kyo who finally stepped up and acts like a hero character. I think a lot of the plot threads and hints at development should just go through. It might not have to be this saga, but after this saga is done that should be the next step for the series.
well 1. you said the next KOF. Disregarding that, why couldn’t Kyo develop like that without aging? Also, what guarantees that this will happen when Kyo grows up? Also, the timeskip is unnecessarily large to the point where it countributes absolutely nothing other than small fanservice and a drastic(and probably ill-received) change in character design and probably characters. Also, such a timeskip would make it hard too continue the KOFs afterwards(unless nothing changes, if so then what’s the point). Really, this kind of change has no place in KOF except for a spin-off like Garou.

… … …
Nope.
Absolutely Nope.
Also, Rock is a soft trappish boy who isn’t tough enough to replace Terry. Damn! He’s a shame for the Howard legacy! Geese is an emperor. You’d have to substitute lots of characters by similar ones, and you’ll need a good excuse, because you have to fill at least the classic teams: FF, AoF, Ikari, Psycho, Women and Korea (Don’t know what to do with Japan, because sometimes it mixed with Nests or K’ teams).
And taking out characters to replace them with younger clones is something Namco did in Soul Calibur 5, and it sucked. It was rubbish. You get new characters, but in the end, nothing’s new, except you’ve lost the characters whose looks or charisma you liked. (In example: You take out Zangief and get a new russian wrestler. It’s ridiculous self plagiarism. You don’t want a new Russian Wrestler. You want Zangief!)
You can (and should) make them advance on their individual games. Mark of the Wolves was great. Not only one of the best fighting games of it’s generation, but a good step on the story of a game which hadn’t any since Fatal Fury 3. They could try a new AoF (I don’t need a AAA game, just a fighting game, I want it for the story).
But the dream match is the dream match: KoF is a game to play and compete, and the story is good, but everytime I get a new KoF, first thing I pick K’, Andy and Ryo and hit start.
And I don’t want it otherwise.
I wonder what will happen to the Another World team characters in KOF15 and futher.
Nakoruru is a (semi)-established fighting game character from a possibly returning fighting game from a different time line (Samurai Warriors is a historic fg while KOF is modern).
Love Heart and Mui Mui on the other hand are from Pachinko games, meaning they can’t go to another game with their move sets. Plus I think they can easily be brought to the KOF universe (if Athena/Kensou and Ikari Warriors characters can be in the same universe with KOF, Love Heart and Mui Mui can be the same case).
Love Heart could form a Pirate team called the “Sky Love team”. She would be the leader while two other characters would join her. Two amoung these
The lower pic is the most recent, so they’d likely go with those characters. I’d say the two would be Earth Justice (the guy with the blue outfit and orange goggles) and the girl next to him with the red pigtails or the guy with the green outfit and red hair (the other two girls aren’t fighters).
With Mui Mui I could see her team being the “Dragon Gal team”. She has two friends she fights with in the more recent Pachinko (idk their names tho) so perhaps they could use them as well.
Idk if the pink haired girl is a fighter tho. If not I’d say the panda could be in her team, (s)he could be KOF’s version of XDZW’s Panda https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5oWeqdwWBM
Btw I can’t wait to see Mui Mui’s dragon form in KOF14
If you timeskip KOF and replace the cast with older versions and substitutes, then it wouldn’t be KOF anymore because the point of KOF is to have all these existing characters in one game.
KOF is supposed to be the dream match, crossover title where all your favorite SNK characters are present.
A timeskip to replace all of them with new versions completely misses the point, and hasn’t exactly had a record of positive reception in other games where it’s been done.
The problem with this is that KoF is a series that allows SNK to play like Capcom, Marvel, DC, and every other entertainment property does: It allows them to present characters at their prime, FOREVER. They don’t have to age, KoF is the “Best of” for all the involved characters.
Thankfully, this allows SNKP to advance their other series along a flowing timeline. Since you KNOW the classic will live on somewhere, they can make more bold decisions in the mainline (FF, AoF, MOTW) games.
Biggest issues is KoF became the mainline game for SNKP, and the other series disappeared. This might very well be changing now, with SNKP now trying to become a big console game maker again.
And lastly… KoF is a “yearly” tournament. A time skip would go against the very nature of the yearly setup. If the end of XIV was to give a reason why the characters would need to take a year or 2 off, story wise, we could see some time shifting. But that’s about the only type of skip one should reasonable expect.
Well I just thought it would be nice to see the characters mature a bit and develop. It would be nice to see rock and legacy characters offspring, it’s one of the things I thought was really cool about garou.
I agree it’s a cool thing, and I’d ask for it in about any other series… but KoF.
**SNK’s way of working: **
[] Keep characters people love in KoF, regardless of the story from their universes (hence, Geese is still alive, He can team up with Krauser, Yamasaki can be relevant, etc.)
[] Grow the story of the separate games within their own sequels.

Take any stand-out characters, and then force them into KoF somehow (such as how Yamazaki was given bloodline ties to Orochi lineage, when this had nothing to do with his character in FF.)
The fact the boss to XIV is suppose to basically be a character that can used as an excuse to bring any character into KoF they want to, basically solidifies their way or working. Instead of moving the story forward in years, they’d rather just pluck people INTO wherever KoF is, and have them work by this universe’ rules. The fact Nakaruru is to be appearing says as much.
